Disney reimburses unsuspecting customer

What you think is toting the company line is just a low tolerance for idiots in my case, but I just speak for myself.
The polite term is "fools" not "idiots". "We don't suffer fools gladly." Personally, I don't think mentioning even the polite rejoinder is constructive, but if you're going to say it, I think it might be better to use the more polite term. :hippie:

What you think is toting the company line is just a low tolerance for idiots in my case, but I just speak for myself. It is always someone else's fault. There was information for both the 2007 and 2008 dining plans available on the Disney website. If you are going in 2008, you might want to be sure you aren't reading the 2007 Dining Plan brochure.

Caveat Emptor.

Goes back to my analogy of the clothes on the sales rack. Now if a person was charged an extra dollar per person, per day, then Disney owes the person the extra dollar per person, per day. That's all. Not an 18% tip and cost of an appetizer. (so if it's a family of 4 and they were there 5 days, then $20--definitely not $100-$200--that's ridiculous). As I said--you don't get something for free--someone has to pay for it and I don't want to pay because some people did not do the research they should have done. I have researched everything. A purchase of over $600 for my family certainly necessitated it.

You must never have been a child. :rotfl:

Do you think your parents really didn't know what was going on? Just because a kid thinks they've pulled a fast one doesn't mean they did...now I'm not saying I knew everything.....but I could sure tell if they were lying to my face....same with employees and customers.

Well I purchased the DDP without knowing it had changed booked my holiday in May2007 and have not ben informed of a change since booking, so if I wasnt such an active member on these forums I wouldnt have a clue.
But saying that I am in the UK so maybe it is different for us regarding bookings.
I can see a lot of people from the uk who booked last year not finding out whats included until they sit down............:confused3

Do you think your parents really didn't know what was going on?
Do you really want to have this conversation HERE? :confused3

For the record, I've confirmed with my parents that they really didn't know what was going on, quite often. I also know, with absolutely assurance, that my brothers sometimes really don't know what is going on with their children. I think your perspective on this is naive, and unfair: Parents are not perfect, and it is unfair of you to place that expectation on them. :sad2:

If anyone was caught unaware of the change, it was self inflicted. Disney did thier part. As to whether this reembursement sets a precedent, absolutely not. They will deal on case by case basis. Some will get something, most won't.

I was reading this thread on a whim, and I JUST LEARNED the the DDP that I purchased for 2008 doesn't include apps or tips. I had no idea. The CM did not tell me this when I booked. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr.

No, no, no. You are supposed to wait until you get there before you do this. Stamp your feet a bit, and wag your finger too. Then you will be all set.

Wait, so that doesnt make them a 'fool or an idiot?'

Not everyone gets there information from the same informed sources and I find it amusing that so many feel 'put out' that anyone could purchase this plan at any point and not be 100% informed.

Someday I hope everyone will be as perfect, informed and full of disney knowledge as 'some' dis'ers I know.

In fact I am going to make that my 08' campaign pledge!

bicker...thankyou!!!!! You have hit the nail on the head.....be an informed shopper. The other OP's who claimed they booked a 2008 vacation and were not informed...shame on you!!!. We knew about the changes last June and booked in Sept. for Sept. 2008. How can you say you were never informed by the CM, when I have called to change our ressie 4 times and were told about the new DDP changes everytime. We also downloaded the 2008 DDp plans from the WDW sight in Oct. 2907 after returning from out recent trip.. which listed the plan changes correctly ( tho the 2006 restaurants were not completely listed at hat time). Come on people.... be honest and responsible for your purchase!!!!:confused3

weezee, because not every single person that has done business with disney has gotten the exact same person you did! Not only that, but disney changed the wording on their website 'after the fact' because of all the confusion. You say be informed, but travel guides, disney's own website (until recently) travel agents, AAA, CM's, have all given out mis-information in regards to the DDP.

Your single example doesnt erase any of that.

Ah Bicker, simply put, you are wrong.

We were NOT told about the changes to DDP when we booked a bounceback offer in September. The CM tried to sell us on the new Deluxe plan, and the wine plan, but did not tell us the changes to the regular plan. I also was not told about the changes when I booked something very recently. (though the CM did confirm that we had been to WDW last September.)

For another example, I recently called and asked about the quick service dining option at CR (as I know the food court is closed). The CM started to tell me about Chef Mickey's and the Concourse Steakhouse. Not the new place that hasn't opened, Chef Mickey's Character buffet and the Concourse Steakhouse. I said, "but those are TS, not QS." "Oh Yeah, I see that now, "she said. There was more. She was totally clueless.

So maybe this person (op) WAS telling the truth.

My question is...how can all these OP say they were not informed, when I have talked to four diiferent CM's who have informed me of the DDp changes, on 4 different phone conversations.....just my experience, but I must say WDW has been very upfront and informative with every conversation since our initial bounceback booking last Oct. You must underdstand why I am perplexed that others claim thay have not received any update info?????

Disney makes changes to their packages every year-- it's up to the buyer to know what they are buying.

The 2008 Dining Plan brochure was on the website the day the changes were made, and it had the correct information.

As has been stated on Many, Many topics, CM's give out bad info all the time. So does AAA, so do Travel Agents. If you will recall, the wording of the 08' plan until about a week after was also mis-leading and the site was difficlut to navigate. When has disney's website ever been easy to use? Heck this new plan is less than a month old, so what is so difficult to believe that 'some' people getting there information from any of these sources thinking they were informing themselves with due dilligence have found out quite the opposite? I find it completely acceptable and likely that this has happened many times to people who thought they had done their homework. As the year goes on and te new plan becomes old hat I expect this particular issue will go away, but it doesnt excuse the way it was implemented.

Conversely, I find it 'interesting' that anyone would spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on ANYTHING without being fully aware of what they are buying. To blame the vendor is ingenuous.

Again, I point to Disney's own website which would have mislead anyone that knew of the old plan because it stated that gratuities were included but didnt specify that it was only for the dinner shows. That mis-leading statement went through at least two re-writes after the fact to make it more clear.
Again, as hard as it is to believe, not everyone that goes to disney researches their trip on disboards (for shame) and multiple sources have given incorrect information, to and include Disney CM's.
In fact I would wager that if you called and talked to enough of them someone would be more than willing to mis-inform you on any number of topics.
To place this solely on the consumer because Disney did such a whiz-bang job of informing their consumers of these changes and eliminating any ambiguity is ignoring reality.

Since that information is no longer available, I have to ask - did anybody seeing this information notice if they were looking at the 2008 plan, or the 2007 one?

Regarding the next comment ('as hard as it is to believe...'), no, it's not at ALL hard to believe that thousands of Disney Guests aren't even aware of the DISBoards, never mind being able to research their trips here.

However, again I state: I find it 'interesting' that anyone would spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on ANYTHING without being fully aware of what they are buying. That's anything. A trip, a house, a car, a television set... to not be aware of what one is spending one's money on, then blaming the vendor is, again, ingenuous.
