Disney Rainy Days!!

Well, the day we were supposed to leave (there was a hurricane, so we had an extra 3 days), it was raining all day. So, my friend and I went to Riverside (we were staying at the french quarter) and rode the multi seat bikes, and then took the boat down to DTD, and watched a movie and walked around the shops. You could also check out the other resorts -- the deluxe ones are nice to check out, go hidden mickey hunting around disney property, or even go to one of the parks, and just go on the indoor rides, and shops!

We would do whatever we had planned for the day, rain or not! We only encountered one rainy evening on our December trip so we lucked out there. But a couple of years ago we hit some major storms on a trip to Disneyland. We put on our ponchos and trudged through the park anyway. It was during the week after Christmas and we didn't notice that the crowds got any thinner. People were determined to go anyway just like us.

The only thing that would keep us out of the parks would be really hard winds along with the rain. If it was tough just to walk around, we might think twice. But a little rain? No problem! Our kids are on the older side (11 & 8) so we don't worry about strollers or little ones being washed away. They're both boys and they're tough and they love adventure. A WDW adventure in the rain is right up our alley!

On our May 05 trip it rained (more like a downpour) every morning we had planned for a park but it did not stop us. We just put on our ponchos and carried on as planned. It actually worked out to our benefit as there were absolutely no lines at all, we were able to walk on a ride all morning long.

Nothing stops us in disney... you know you already paid all that money.. you might as well enjoy it! Sometimes the crowds thin out when it starts to rain.. they go back to the resort for a break... so it makes it nice either way!

The last time me and my family went in 1998 (May) we just continued through the rain, chuck on the bright yellow Mickey poncho's and waded our way through it...not that it lasted that long, talking 10mins at the most!!

:thumbsup2

We love rainy days at Disney!!!! Everyone stays away from the park and the lines are super short:banana:   In 05 we were there during the hurricane in Oct. The news announced Disney was closed due to the weather - by about 1pm the rain had stopped and we were wondering what to do - so we called the parks and it turned out Epcot MGM and Magic were open ....and away we went! The news were still reporting the parks were closed and we had the place all to ourselves ( and a few other die hard park goer) - a little chilly - but still great!

On our DGD's first trip with us, we were in what they called "the leftovers" of a hurricane. It POURED!! She and I put on ponchos, (the yellow ones at the time) and DH toughed it out and we went to the parks!!! A little rain was not going to melt him!!! About half way through the morning, he got a poncho!!! Anyway, Kala had a wonderful time!!! The lines were short and few people were in the parks. It was great!!!

Fast forward to last August and we were in DTD with her friend and family when it started to pour!!! First we were just going to go and do what we intended, but the rain started coming sideways so we went into a store, and waited till it subsided enough so that we could go again.

Don't let the rain stop you!!! Go ahead and do what you intended to do. These two particular days were a couple of the best times that we had at WDW!!!!

We were there last June and for a day and a half it was overcast and raining most of the time -- but no storms. We ended up going to the waterparks. Our kids loved it! We didn't burn our feet on hot cement there was NO waits for any of the slides and we were getting wet from the rain anyway, so we thought we may as well enjoy it! We actually got to ride Crush N Gusher over and over without a wait.

Of course if it was storming they would have closed the park due to lightning, but if it is just drizzling all day that is our plan from now on.

We go to the water parks. There is no one there, and you are going to get wet anyway!
