Disney Parks Moms Panel 2015

Thank you Palmtreelover!!

What are the odds? If they take 20 (I think Gary_Jerry said 16-22) everyone has about 20% chance from this list. If we assume there are at least this number that aren't on the disboards, then maybe 10% chance!!

Sounds pretty good to me!

Except then I am DVC. There are 7 on that list, plus I think there are at least 3 more that I know of from twitter and Facebook, plus others we don't know about. So maybe 5% chance of making it on the panel.

5% sounds a lot better than 1 out of 20!!

I am ready to be chosen!! :rotfl:

Email me Gary_Jerry!!! ...:cheer2:...:cheer2:...:cheer2:

5% Sounds pretty good! I keep hoping they will take more than 1 DVC panelist, maybe? It would be such fun to meet up after all this time!

For those of you not on Twitter, Gary posted a bit ago that R3 notifications will tentatively be going on on Monday the 10th.

While this is nice news to have, it seems the revelation came at a price. For some the clues and games are increasing their stress and communicated this to Gary. As he has said many times, his goal is to make this fun and decrease stress, so I think he felt badly some were feeling this way and gave us the Monday date.

I'm left feeling like someone popped his Mickey balloon, or made him drop his Dole Whip on the ground.:confused3 I'll admit it is a bit crazy/stressful, but maybe I'm wrong in that it is a fun crazy/stress? For those that have only applied the last two years, this experience is vastly different than it used to be. The first four years I applied there was virtually no communication about the process, and we might get a tweet stating "pixie dust alert" 5 minutes before emails came out.

Even my hubby was getting into the fun. He has been planning a "before" and "during" photo of him during the process which he posted tonight. He is always so supportive and listens to me go on and on and on every year about the panel, and is always there to cheer me on. The clues and hints have given him a way to participate with me this year.

I think this process is ALWAYS going to be a bit crazy because we all want so much to be part of the magic, but I appreciate all the effort Gary has put into trying to make the wait more fun. I hope today doesn't ruin the fun part for him, and I am hoping this doesn't mean an end to the clues!

Yes to all of this. I enjoy the clues and it makes the process more fun.

Use this hashtag: #‎thankyougaryjerry‬
and let Gary know just how much you appreciate him!

Ditto!

To quote Gary_Jerry -- Well played!!

Bring on the emails -- only 6 more days@@ ...:cool1:

What fun we had with #DisneyMP and #ThankYouGaryJerry trending! Now if we could all hop on the Disney Fantasy (can you tell my speciality is DCL) we could keep the fun going in The Tube!!

I have to agree that it seems like poor Gary's Mickey balloon has popped. :worried:

I do see both sides though. After I applied for R1, I literally forgot about it. I didn't follow this board, and didn't pay any attention to Twitter. It was much less stressful than this round. I mainly didn't follow anything because I did follow last year and it added to the heartbroken feeling to watch everyone else move on. Making it to R2 this year, I wanted to seek people out that were in the same boat to gather support. But, I have to say, with all the clues, etc. I have been way more stressed about it. My stress could be heightened because we leave for WDW on Nov 13, and I was really worried the notice wouldn't come out until I was on vacation. I normally "unplug" for our vacations.

I'm not saying that I would email Gary about it. I think that is ridiculous - I wouldn't want to ruin it for all the people having fun with the clues. I would just elect to stay off Twitter and Facebook.

Also, I would think that by emailing him you would pretty much guarantee yourself a "no, thank you" email on Monday.. just my two cents though.

I agree completely. If the clues are stressful, by all means, don't follow the Twitter and don't join any of the groups that are dissecting the clues.

I don't know the situations of the people who emailed to complain, so I don't want to sound judgmental, but it sounds as though they were asking Gary to stop giving the clues. Not cool when so many others are having fun with them.

I also agree that emailing Gary about the clues being 'stressful' might hurt one's chances of being put on the Panel. If a person is perceiving the clues as stressful, the responsibility of being a Panelist would likely be perceived as even MORE stressful.

I think it's pretty presumptuous of anyone to try to tell Gary how to do his job, which is exactly what emailing "constructive criticism" (to quote Gary) is. He is one of the most creative minds Disney has currently, and for us to get an insight into a little bit of that is a gift. I actually kind of question whether someone really has a "Disney Side" if they don't appreciate that. As others have said, you can easily avoid the clues if they stress you out. I also think those people pretty much guaranteed a no for themselves. While I do believe the committee tries to make the process as unbiased as possible and really tries to make a decision based on the submitted material alone, I'm pretty sure they also have some autonomy to pull the plug on someone who is going to be a Negative Nancy right out of the gate. Complaining about clues now. What's next? Complaining that the training trip is too tiring with the long days? Complaining about having to answer so many questions? Would you ever email a potenial employer that he or she is making the hiring process too stressful and to change something about it? Of course not! But that's exactly what, not 1 but, 2 people did. I'm really at a loss.

Someone on the Facebook page posted a "Debbie downer" picture in regards to this and it made me laugh out loud... Just what popped to my mind when I read those tweets from Gary! I'm sure the people who emailed him just "snapped" under the pressure and didn't think about how it would effect Gary or the rest of us who enjoyed the clues. Stress makes some people do weird things, like apparently self-sabotage in this case. I am enjoying following the excitement, cheering all of us on, because after this is all over I still get to go to Disney World ;)

Yeah, I felt bad for Gary. He was just trying to make things fun, not stress anyone out. On the bright side, I guessed correctly on my post from yesterday re: the 10th! I know that it's subject to change, but we all know it has to be coming soon. How else could they have the final panelists chosen by the 22nd?

I've been thinking about the answers to my essays (which I feel more strongly about than my video). Also, I haven't looked at what other hopefuls have posted because I didn't join the FB group, so I have nothing really to compare it to. So, do you all mind if I ask you some questions about how you answered some things?

1. Did you add a greeting and/or closing sentence (with your name) for your sample DMP questions? In the first round, I did not because a person's name wasn't given; this round, I did include those things.

2. In the question about your sources, did you name specific sources or were you more general about it? When this question has been asked before, I've been more general, but this time I was very specific.

Just wondering what others did for those questions.

I suppose the bright side would be there are now two less people in the running for a coveted Moms Panel spot :thumbsup2

1) I did a greeting but not a closing.
2) I was both general about some and specific on others, I guess. My answer was pretty short I think.

You know I barely thought about my R1 application. I hope I didn't overthink R2.

I agree. I think any complaints really hurt the complainers. If I were 'hiring' the position, I would absolutely cross those people out. They just aren't right for the 'job' if the clues are too stressful.

I think they would avoid people who are too "over the top" in any capacity.

I am in Round 2. I've been pretty quiet about it here and while I'm in the FB group I'm just not really participating in all the hoopla. My twitter handle and persona is my day job so unless they want to talk about concerts and album sales it isn't really "disneyfied." Again, laying low there.

I'm not worried or stressed at all. I want to get on the panel. I think it would be fun but I submitted my answers and video. No use second guessing myself. I'll be at WDW Monday and know more then!

I hope Gary knows how much his willingness to help and share things really means to all of us. I really appreciate anything he can share. It's so much better than not knowing anything.

I guessed Nov 10th, too, but then talked myself out of it when I saw everyone else saying the 17th & 19th!

And I'm pretty irked that a couple of people decided their feelings are more important than anyone else's. But that's a separate post, if I decide to comment more on it at all.

But I really wanted to weigh in on your questions about the questions. :) Here's what I did...

1. I did add a greeting and name at the top of the two sample R2 Q's. (Didn't see R1 Q's because I had the MP FP+.) I also had a closing at the end, but did not sign my name. And now that you mention it, I suppose I probably should have, if it's supposed to be just like an actual Q to the site. Rats. (Guess I can use that as my excuse if I don't advance!)

2. I named four specific sources: Disney Parks blog, Disney Moms Panel page, and two third-party websites. Not room for much more when you name sources and why you use them.

So...there you have it! :)
