Disney Parks Moms Panel 2015

In 100 words or less, we'd like to know: what is the number one reason you'd like to be a part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel?

I didn't make it to R2 last time, but here's my answer now. :)

I love Disney World so much and wish I could be there everyday. Since I can't I want to be on the mom's panel so I can help others get to Disney. Talking Disney is almost as good as being in Disney. Spreading the Magic brings the magic a little closer to home until our next trip to see the Mouse.

I'm in the process of finishing up the planning for our anniversary trip in Feb! Plus, we're running in the Princess Half again! I'm also planning my middle schoolers' class trip to WDW in May. This will be my 4th trip taking 40+ people! I love every second of it!

Can't wait for it to officially start!!

Question for all who have made round 2 in the past and had to submit a video:
What did you record your video on? Video camera, phone, digital camera, web cam? Did you do any kind of editing?
The video totally stressed me out! It's not the being on camera part, it's the technical part.
I'm trying to be better prepared if I am fortunate enough to advance to round 2 again this year!

Hi, I am new to this group, so trying to figure it all out. I have wanted to apply to the Moms Panel for years, think this is the year I will give it a try!

Last year was my first time applying, so I can only tell you about my one and only experience with the video. I did mine with our regular camera, set to the video setting. I was by myself the day I shot it so I had to find creative ways to prop the camera up while I spoke...like balancing it on top of a box placed sideways on a chair. Camera kept sliding off the box!

We have a basic video editor on our computer (an older version of Adobe Premiere Elements), which I used to do some simple cut edits. So, my video was a little bit of a production, but only just barely. Did everything right here in my house. I know lots of people just look straight into their phones and speak for 60 seconds and wind up with great videos, but no way I could do that. I had to write something ahead of time and edit it because I could never remember what I wanted to say otherwise! :) I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it. Whatever allows you to be yourself and "show your Disney side," as they say, is perfect!

Thanks for your input Kathy! :thumbsup2 I know they don't expect us to be A/V experts, just Disney ones! I will have to play around with my computer and camera and see what I can come up with.

I used my iPhone. The biggest problems were compressing the video down to the size limit and flipping it (as it kept displaying upside down.)

I filmed the video in either of two ways... you have to guess -

1. Using my SLR camera's video button on a tripod

2. In a Hollywood sound stage and Spielberg directed it.

::yes::

Does anyone have the requirements/rules for who can apply from previous years? I would love to look them over.

This is what I did, and I made it to the final round! I did mine in about 3 takes. No script. Went to bed thinking about what I wanted to say, and then did the video the next day. I was at WDW at the time, so I recorded mine in front of a Monsters U bush. Gary commented on how it looked like the bush was trying to photo bomb my video.

This was from 2011. I don't think it has changed except for the training dates.

Last year I kept saying to myself "What is the intent of the question or task".

In the case of the video, is the intent to see if you can produce a well-edited flashy video? No. The intent is to see your personality and how you do on camera. I know people that did YouTube worthy videos with music & lots of editing. Some even used old clips & pictures to produce their videos. They didn't make it to Round 3.

The same goes for the questions. They don't care what you choose as your favorite attraction, restaurant, or resort. They want to know the WHY behind your choices. They want to see your passion for Disney.

I almost did mine at WDW, too. I ended up finishing my video the day before we left. Should I make R2 again this year and the time frame are the same, there's a good chance I might be doing it while on the Dream or at WDW.

I finally caught myself up through this threat and wanted to drop in to say hi. I'm planning to apply for the first time this year. I've thought about it the past 2 but never actually did it. I've always loved and visited Disney and in the last year caught the running bug and am deep into everything runDisney as well.

Welcome! Always nice to have another Dad join us. :) Which runDisney races have you done or are training for?

I just wanted to poke my head in and wish you all the very best of luck! This truly is the most wonderful time of the year - new friendships are formed, old bonds are renewed, and there is pixie dusted excitement all over the place!

Be yourselves, rock your Disney Side, and check and recheck for grammar, punctuation, and spelling! I look forward to following the journey with you all!

I used my video camera and put it together on iMovie. I shot it in 4 different spots and had a lot of fun! Mine took a lot of takes :).
