I think cost control. They can have a more limited menu and probably charge exorbitant prices, which I will admit I will try at least once if I can get a reservation.

I wonder if a lot of the non family style meal restaurants at WDW will be shifting towards a prix fixe only model going forward ... looking at you California Grll. I can see this as way of ensuring a high cost per guest even when not ordering family style as you have to select 2 to 3 courses

LOL Of course they have a choice. It’s just stuff. No one will die if they don’t get a T-shirt.

Who says they’re buying with their AP discount? They don’t have to use the AP discount to turn a profit. To me, the buyer in this case is no better than the seller. Buyers are what keep sellers in business. If you don’t like reselling, quit supporting it and it stops.

This. If people keep buying the stuff at inflated prices, the sellers will keep doing this. It still sucks if you're someone who won't buy from the resellers, but you can't get the items you want.

The article says "with a two-course prix fixe menu for lunch, and a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner" With the potential for a very limited menu, is this effect of a supply issue or just more cost reduction measures ?
Lots of these 2 and 3 course prix fixe menu's at restaurants that also have a regular menu. Wouldn't read into it that they are the only things offered.

It would seem to fit with Chapek's model.

I think it's to avoid the "I'll have a water and a cupcake" type situation.
Good chance there is a fixed price only with a few choices per course.
More revenue for sure, easier on supply as well.

From the Blog: "The Space 220 restaurant menu will feature stellar dishes and gourmet recipes, with a two-course prix fixe menu for lunch, and a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner."
It sounds like there may not be other options. Of course, there will probably be choices within those prix fixe menus. I hope they post menus soon, and provide reservation info, too. It would be a miracle to get one when it opens in September, but I hope someone from the Boards is able to go and report back!!!

See, I read that totally different than you. I read it as "will include" while you read it as "only". Either one could be right. Guess we will see when the menu comes out. :tigger:

Disney doesn’t do both options at any resturant I’m aware of. It’s one or the otherz
Can’t some of these awesome restaurants have some basic food, along with their “upscale, contemporary” stuff?? There’s a ton of places I can’t even go in WDW because there‘s no food I can eat 😭😭 and with prix fixe, I can’t even try for a drink and a side/dessert.
Yep - with ya there. Cali grill as affordable pizza and sushi options.
Anyone try to just get one Prix Frixe and share it with two? (Found this on PlanDisney, so guess not: With regard to Be Our Guest Restaurant, because it offers a prix fixe menu, Guests are charged on a per person basis. That means that you will be charged according to the number of people in the dining party. "

Chefs de France has had both a la carte and prix fixe. I'm not sure if they still do.
I tend to think Space will only offer prix fixe. But, we shall see.

Hoping I see the post that indicates it is available for ADRs before they are gone--heading down in October! If not, we have waited this long--it will keep until May.
