Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

For the AP preview, everyone needs to be an AP holder and your AP must be valid on the day of the preview (as in block out dates do apply). Also yes you need a valid park ticket. For the DVC preview, everyone who is registered to the room is allowed in but the blue card holder needs to be present when checking in.
Hm, I didn't get any emails about the preview and am an AP holder. Hopefully the link to register will be somewhere I can access

Castaway Club Pearl Level Begins May 1, 2023

Disney Cruise Line revealed the start date for their soon to launch new Castaway Club tier, Pearl. Starting May 1, 2023, guests who’ve completed 25 sailings with Disney Cruise Line will become Pearl Castaway Club Members. However, at this time those booked on these early Silver Anniversary at Sea summer sailings are unable to take advantage of early access to activity planning and remain at the 120-day Platinum booking window.

The cruise line’s Castaway Club page has been updated with the Pearl level but just like they said previously, “a pearl is a valued treasure that takes time and care to take shape.”

Meaning, additional details on the new Pearl benefits will be announced at a later time. As for now, Pearl level will include a special gift, one-time dining at Palo or Palo Steakhouse and exclusive early booking privileges.

Has anyone used this service lately? I haven't used anything but a car service since pre-Covid days, so I have a few questions:

1. Did it take a long time to board for trip to resort?

2. How long did it take you to get to your resort, - How many stops did they make on the way (I realize it will vary each trip depending on the make up of the passengers and where they are staying - just looking for a ballpark)

3. How long before your flight did they pick you up?

Thanks in advance...

The time I used them I only used the drop off at Resort

Once we got our bags and walked over to the Sunshine Flyer location and checked in we were on a bus within 5-10 minutes.

For our trip we wound up being the last stop and stopped at about 4 different resorts with our bus. Took about an hour from the airport to our resort with the stops.

I have only used Sunshine Flyer since the end of DME and I really like it. It’s usually about 10 minutes from check-in to boarding, and usually less than an hour to drop off. Pick up is about 3 hours before your flight. The best part, in my opinion, is that it’s a short walk to the pick-up area, instead of that long, are-we-there-yet? walk that it was to the DME (now Mears) pick-up area at the airport.

I used them for my solo Jan 24th - 31st trip.

1. Did it take a long time to board for trip to resort?
It took 15min from when I checked in at the desk to when my Resort was called to board. I was the only one traveling to All Star Sport on the bus. There were other people going to the other All Star Resorts.

It took 40min from when we left the airport to when I arrived at All Star Sports. I was the second stop. Animal Kingdom Lodge got dropped off first. There were people on the bus waiting to get to the other All Star Resorts when I left the bus.

3. How long before your flight did they pick you up?
I was scheduled to get picked up 4hrs before my flight take off time. They say to wait at the airport pick up area at your resort but the bus picking me up pulled up out front of the All Stars Sports resort for some reason for my pick up time. I was happy I kept an eye out to where the bus went when it arrived so I was able to walk over to catch the bus.

THANKS!!

Where is the boarding place in the airport? I remember that LONG LONG walk to the DME... Do they drop your off at the same place on the return trip?

Edited to add: I sure miss the luggage delivery and airline checkin at the resorts!!!

You know where you come down the escalator from the upper level and then you would turn right for the long DME walk? You turn left instead and the door is practically right there. And yes, they drop you off in the same place they picked you up.

I only got to experience luggage delivery once, and it actually took so long that I had to call them after I got back from the park that night, so I kind of like handling my own bag.

Yeah, I did the checked bag once and I didn't see my bag until like 1 AM. I wasn't thrilled about that.

Wow, I never had any issues with the luggage delivery except the time I forgot to stop at the desk at the DME loading place and let them know. I finally got my bags after I stopped by Bell Services and told them, and then they were able to clear up the issue...
Absolutely LOVED not having to schlep bags around the airport and lugging them back to the airport from the resort!
