Disney Magic - Dec 10, 2011 - Western Caribbean Cruise - Sun, Fun and Beaches!

We also got our cruise docs last Friday. It's getting so close now. :cool1:
I finished our FE gifts today. I can't wait to pass them out.
We are so VERY busy. We just sold our house and I started a new job. Now we have to find a place to rent and pack and move. We are supposed to close on the house on Dec 8th. Got boxes anyone? :rotfl:

Oh what changes!! We did all that about a year and a half ago... let's just say I am not looking forward to moving anytime soon! (Though that conflicts with not really wanting to stay in this city, but hakuna matata, right??)

And we got most of our moving boxes from Freecycle. After we unpacked... guess what, we put them back on Freecycle!

Hey everyone What documents did you receive because I am in the states (at Disneyland) and not at home. I wont receive anything I asked the Travel agent about anything else we will receive because we were leaving for our holiday and she said nothing (dreams unlimited) but now you are all saying you have received things can you tell me what it is and am I going to need it for check in??

Thanks Lauren

Thanks to all of you for your advice!! I think I am cutting it a little close! My older son already asked me not to book too many things in close intervals!! (he knows how I roll)

As for travel documents from Disney, I have received only my luggage tags with a nice booklet to keep them in and I have done the online check in and printed out all of the documents and signed them. Other than that, a while ago I received the brochure about the travel insurance.

We are getting so excited for this trip!!!

Sinderelly, I am amazed that you can accomplish the house closing and new job along with this trip!!!!

Really the most important thing was the luggage tags and even those are not that important. I've been told (never personally did this) that the porters on the dock will have generic tags that they put you room number and name on. So no worries and if you did/will do online check in you can print off the signature form to sign and all is good and if you can't don't worry it can all be done in the terminal. (this I know.our printer died right before our first Disney cruise and they took care of everything there)

Haven't gotten my docs or tags yet. Does Disney send them, or the travel agent? I think my travel agent is out of town. She hasn't responded to my e-mail last Friday and that isn't like her. I don't want to seem like a psycho Disney traveler, but I have hit a level of neurotic anticipation about the trip. Let's get going already!!!! :upsidedow

The ship seems like it is going to be sparse. All categories of rooms are still open and you could still book Palo for dinner.

I'm not positive about DCL but with other cruises. Yes the cruise line sends your documents to your travel agent and then you have to get them from the TA. I'm thinking this is the case with DCL too as you and Carmen both don't have them and she also used a TA.

Wether we can accomplish it or not remains to be seen. The home inspection is Thursday here we go!

On our last cruise everyone in our meet thread received their travel docs at least 10-14 days before we did and yes, I started to panic a little. Our travel agent emailed DCL and they gave us a mailing date which meant we should have received them way before we actually did. I think they were mailed Pony Express. When they finally arrived, it looked like horses stomped all over the envelope. :rotfl2:
I know how you feel as I like to have all our ducks in a row too. :)

I think you are right, Tracy, still no docs here! I'm going to call my TA later today and will report back. :)

On an unrelated note...the spreadsheet is done. How do the groups usually distribute it? I've got an excel document and a PDF (map of ship decks) to send to everyone.

We're leaving for our trip one month from today!!!!!!!!! WAY too much for me still to think about. I need to make a list...

On our last cruise meet thread we received the FE list via email. We just PMed our email addresses. Would that be okay?
Also, how are we going to handle any cabin changes or updates? I'm not sure if anyone will be upgrading at the port? I know we are going to check to see what's available. Ideas anyone?

Well it's official, we are now heading home on Sunday instead of Saturday. The main reason is because the 6:15 flight got pushed to 7:50! Way too long of a wait to get home. We still had some points (dvc) to use this year so called and found a Room!:cool1: We would have preferred to get home Saturday and have Sunday to recover but our new flight lands around 1 so still some time to recover. Now to decided what to do with Saturday. I really want to see the Osborne lights but not sure.

I'm not sure how to handle late room changes. But with only 10 cabins there has to be an easy answer. Maybe we could plan a meet for the first day and then if there is a room change, it could figured out then. I don't know much about the magic but there must be a good place to meet. As far as time I would suggest before the muster drill. Everyone should be on the ship by then?

I need to make a list just like Carmen...

Spoke to my TA today and docs are in the mail. Pre-paid my tips and double checked my reservations. So far, so good. Now I will just have to stalk the mail carrier.

I think a PM of the list makes the most sense. Will meet up whenever people want too. We have the first port time and expect to have guest services and spa run complete by boat drill.

Okay, folks. So remember how I had that post-cruise reservation at Pop? Well, I still hadn't recieved a confirmation (and no payment had been taken) after two weeks a couple calls to my TA.

Sooo...I called Disney. And guess what? No reservation in the system.

So. frustrated!

I've decided to go ahead and book that part of the trip on my own, and am wondering if it might be worth the splurge to go moderate?

So, if you had the choice, would you stay at Pop, or spend and extra $60 and stay at CSR. This is only a one night stay, and will be our first time at WDW. I love the look of CSR, but the theming of Pop might impress the little ones more. However, I'd also like to impress DH, who isn't excited about going to WDW at all.

WWYD?

Well if your trying to impress your DH then a value is not the way to do that. My biggest pet peeve with the values is the size of the beds! They are doubles (or fulls). My husband is 6'4 if we tried to share of full we'd fall out! Now that said it is only one night and $60 is a lot, but it might be worth it if it helps your DH see the (Disney) light!!

Just my opinion

That would be a difficult decision. We loved POFQ for the theming and because it's smaller and quiet. The boat ride to DTD was great... But we really LOVE Pop.:lovestruc The double beds would be a downside though. Our room at Pop had a king bed and was very comfortable. Good luck with your planning whatever you decide.

Carmen,

Are you spending the day at MK and just coming back to your room to crash? Or are you just spending the night and looking to enjoy the amenities of the resort? If you are crashing, save your money and go Pop. Your kids will like it and they will have been wowed by MK already. If you plan on enjoying the resort CSR is beautiful and the pool is great. If you stay at CSR make sure you book near the main bldg. Some of the rooms are quite far from it since it is a resort geared to conventions.

My 2 cents :)
