Disney Magic - Dec 10, 2011 - Western Caribbean Cruise - Sun, Fun and Beaches!

I leave Saturday I am so excited for my holiday!!

Yay! Safe travels!!

I'll go ahead and make our spreadsheet, it won't take long with only 10 cabins!

If you have your stateroom number, please PM it to me and I'll add it to the list. I think I'll make a map as well for us, so we have a visual of where everyone is located.

Any thoughts on a meet-up anyone? I'm not sure what the norm is for those...is it usually the first day?

We are back! We got back Monday evening from the Dream and WDW. We have alot of catching up to do.
The Dream is a beaufiful ship but DH and I both prefer the Magic. We are excited tp get back on the Magic again.
We now have our cabin assignment. We are in cabin #2056. I am sorry we won't get to meet Kiki but it seems we have a great group. :yay:

Welcome back, Sinderelly! Glad you had a good trip. :)

I've been seeing this said in alot of the Dream trip reports. Is it an atmosphere thing? Or do you think because there are so many more people on board? (Or maybe a combo of both?)

I think it's a combination of things. The Dream seems to have some design issues. Like having to walk through Cabanas to get to the aft elevators. We discovered while delivering FE gifts that there are some decks that you can't walk all the way through without going to another deck. The pools don't seem to be any larger on the Dream but way more people :scared1: On the Magic we used the mid ship elevators alot but it's almost impossible on the Dream because they are so crowded. We found ourselves walking to the aft elevators many times after waiting for such a long time on the mid ship ones.
However the beds on the Dream are SO comfy and have more room underneath to store luggage. The animated artwork was amazing on the Dream. I guess we will always consider the Magic "our ship". :lovestruc

We got our luggage tags in the mail yesterday. We should be able to work on our FE gifts this weekend.

Question of the day: Did anyone receive their refund from DCL on the port/tax charges?

I still hadn't seen it come through our account, so I called DCL and they said it was processed on October 11. But I checked with our bank and we never recieved it... Weird. It's only $48, but it's driving me crazy that it's in limbo-land.

We got our tags on friday!!

November is a super busy month for my family. My DH, DS, Dmil, Dfil, Dsis in law, best friend, myself and a few more family all have birthdays in November. I'm worried about the cruise and not getting everything ready for the trip as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas. I just realized that by the time we get back and settled it will be less than a week to Christmas. Busy, busy!! It will make the vacation so much more relaxing, knowing everything is settled.

As far as the "refund goes, I logged onto the online cruise center and it says
Cruise cost x, amount paid x, balance (37.45)
I think it might even be a different color. I'm thinking this is the "refund" and that maybe it will be applied to the shipboard account. Giving you an OBC for the amount rather than an actual refund. I imagine sending either a check or putting it back on everyones CC might not be cost effective and that by giving you the OBC they can more easily take care of it. Just my two cents, could be wrong.

:cool1: SO excited, I got my cruise documents and luggage tags today!! Stateroom #6654~ I can't believe we are a little more than a month away!

This is my first solo trip and I'm a bit nervous. I am hoping to meet so many of the nice people on this thread!

Have a wonderful weekend!! ~Seaprincess (Lisa)

We are cabin #7625. Question for everyone who goes to Disney on a regular basis.(I haven't been there since 1998) After spending money to stay at WL and get Mickey Christmas Party tickets for that evening, is it possible with a flight that lands at 2:20pm to get on the shuttle and get to WL with reservations for 4:10pm at The Plaza in MK and make it ontime? The Christmas party on 12/9 must get really full, or this is a very popular restaurant because I couldn't get a reservation until 9pm if I didn't book at 4:10. Is this something that has cancellations and I should keep checking? Can you call directly, rather than book online? I didn't want to spend the extra $$ for a character dinner(Colton doesn't like Winnie the Pooh that much) but wanted one fairly good meal for that day. But my logistics may be way off with timing.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What I meant to add was the money spent on the resort and tickets was to be for a possible upgrade at the port. Good luck to all of you who want upgrades!!

Yay!:cool1:

My luggage tags arrived on Friday and I bought an extra suitcase last week, too. I am an over packer so instead of freaking out about making it all fit; I broke down and went with two suitcases. I can't wait for this cruise!

If you really land at 2:20 (no delays) you could be at WL by 3:30 using magical express. WL is close to MK, there is a boat launch to MK which could take 20+ mins to get there. Plaza is fairly close to the entrance to the park so all in all I think it is doable. Using the party tickets you can't enter any earlier than 4 anyway. I think it will be very close and that is if everything goes according to plan. That said I would keep the reservation but I would keep checking for a later time. Also have you checked the restaurants at WL that could be an option. Just keep in mind that while your time is for 4:10 and they tell you to be early you could show up a few minutes late and still possible be seated. Just don't show up an hour late and expect to be seated (but it can't hurt to ask) The plaza sometimes will accept walk ups even if they say they are full online. I think its partly due to some people making reservations and then only having dessert (or appetizer).

We too received our documents; Austin and I are in stateroom 5024.

Have to agree about the Dream, we were on the MV and while the ship is absolutely beautiful with lots of innovative artwork and energy saving innovations...there are indeed design flaws (e.g, the basketball court is right about Palo, the Enchanted Garden is on deck 2 with staterooms, etc). The new ships have capacity for 1 1/2 times more guests....our hearts too belong on the Magic and Wonder.

Don't forget that you will be arriving at WL during prime check-in time. I remember it took us quite awhile, this was on a Thursday evening. We came in on ME, and waited in line for 20 minutes.

I second eating at WL. We LOVED Whispering Canyon Cafe, it was so fun for kids and adults, and the food was phenomenal. I dream of their family style buckets of food. We ate at The Plaza for breakfast one day, not saying it wasn't good, but I wouldn't do it again. We are also not excited about characters. (Okay, that's an understatement... I just about had a panic attack right there.)
