Day 9, Saturday December 13th

The cast…

Me, Erika, 34, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
DH, Steve, 36, extremely tolerant of my obsession, loves Disney vacations
DS, Matthew, 10 ½, loves Disney World, tried many new things this trip
DD, Alexa, 7 (almost 8), as Disney crazy as I am

I was a little sad today, since it was our last full day. We are going to the MK to get a last ride on our favorites, then going back at night for Wishes. I knew it would probably get crowded, but we made sure to be there at opening. For the very first time we went straight to Big Thunder Mountain instead of Fantasyland. I guess my kids are growing up on me. We walked right on and then rode again. You could tell they were expecting big crowds today, they already had a second train on the other side, ready to go when necessary. Splash was not running, so no last ride on that one for the boys. I decided this was the only chance for the Haunted Mansion and ds was ready to ride. Dd wanted nothing to do with it, but we kept on walking and I told her she could close her eyes if she needed to. Much to my surprise she actually went on it, without throwing a fit. I told her I’d buy her the cool pin we had seen if she rode it LOL, great bribe tool those pins are. She kept her head down in the stretching room, and some woman walked by and mussed her hair and said “it’s only a ride”. She was not amused. When we got in the doom buggy, I could tell she was still worried. I told her I’d buy her a stuffed ghost when we were done too. She did quite well, she didn’t shake or cry and kept her eyes open most of the time. She was fine when we got off, but decided she only wanted to ghost and not the pin. It didn’t help that we had some really loud teenagers a couple of buggies in front of us, who screamed through the whole ride. Later when she walked through the park she said that she’d bring her ghost back for the next trip so he could ride again LOL. We then went to see Mickey’s Philharmagic. This show gets better every time you watch. It’s just wonderful!!! We went and got Fastpasses for Buzz before we had lunch at Cosmic Rays. The crowds were definitely much heavier than they had been the rest of the week. We rode Buzz and decided that was enough for MK until evening. We took the monorail over to the Contemporary and rented the water mice. This was my first time driving, I had never driven any type of boat before. Once I got used to it, they were quite fun. Dd and I got a really poky boat though, the boys flew around us in circles. Alexa had a blast doing this, and can’t wait to go again next year.
When we got back to the hotel the kids went swimming again for awhile. Me, I prefer warm water, unless it’s 90 degrees, so again I stuck to the hot tub. When we were done, it was our last night for the “what’s for dinner” dilemma. We opted for the ESPN club again. Turns out we really like this place. Wishes was scheduled for 9 and we arrived back at the MK about 7:30. We went fully expecting a zoo and that’s what we got. Mobs and mobs of people. Since we had a little time to kill I suggested we take the train back to Frontierland and check the fast pass time for Big Thunder. We have never ridden in the dark and Alexa said if she could ride one more ride before we went home she’d pick that one. Fast pass return time was 9:20-10:20, which was perfect, the standby line was huge. We got the passes and fought our way towards Fantasyland, through the crowds of people lined up for the parade. There was no line at Small World so went on it, one last time. We had to share our boat with a bunch of people this time LOL. It was getting closer to Wishes time so we wandered our way to Main Street. We stood near the Hub at the end of Main Street. As it was getting closer someone tall came and stood directly in front of the kids. We moved to the other side of the street. Then a little girl in front of us started screaming. Her dad was holding her and she was screaming bloody murder for mommy. Mommy was holding the camera and the camcorder and totally ignoring her little girl. She just kept screaming for mommy to hold her while daddy struggled to hold her up, and mommy kept ignoring her. I didn’t really understand why mommy couldn’t hold her and daddy couldn’t the pictures, why make her so miserable. We were worrying that this is all we would hear on our camcorder when we taped Wishes. Then their friends kid started to scream. We moved again. Then we watched Wishes. Wow!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know if it was the fact that we were leaving in the morning, or if it was just that moving, but I had tears streaming down my face and couldn’t speak much for a few minutes afterwords. Beautiful, amazing show!!!
When it was over we turned into Salmon. We swam upstream to try to make it to Frontierland. Not an easy task considering everyone else was trying to leave. We got through and turned in our fastpasses and walked right past all the people in the very long standby line. It was so cool to ride at night, it really made it a whole different ride. We were so glad we rode it in the dark, what a great way to end our trip.

and Cosmic Rays is one of our favorite lunch places.......hubby gets that steak and cheese sub and I get a chicken ceasar salad......and we share.....YUMMY....can hardly wait for April.........thanks so much for your report........it has been great to go to Disney with you
