disney grand california sale start 1-25-09 for founding members

I'm wondering the 100 pt minimum was done away with or just the fact that you still have to buy 100 pts or more and they are just letting you break that into smaller contracts.

That is what I would like to know also.

WHAT!!!!!!!:crazy2:

When did this change??? We are on the founding members list and didn't buy because we did not want 100 points.

Can anyone confirm if the minimum is gone???:mic: :joker: :clown: :joker:

Last I checked (yest pm) the minimum was NOT gone. It is still 100 points. K

Are they allowed to call you in Alberta? I thought DVC was only allowed to call one province in Canada, that being Ontario.

They are only allowed to sell in Ontario. We had to travel to a disney park to purchase. They can call us whenever they want. I have talked to my guide on the phone before.

It looks like the minimum is still 100 so we will pass:wave2:

Just curious--did you call again and confirm this?

Sorry you have to pass.

... and she told me that the 100 point minimum only applied to getting incentives. Looks like we are back in the game for getting GCV points!

ooh ooh ooh... does that mean we can get smaller amt of points with $112 and still get the DP with it just without $5 GC or no DP either?

I am so thrilled for you! I am so happy that folks who were planning to buy along will no longer be shut out. :cool1:

I'm being told that the 100-pt minimum is still being enforced. However if you buy 100 points or more, they will allow those points to be split into multiple contracts of less than 100 points.

bummer :(
oh well, it's worth a thought :)

I am getting so confused...is the minimum 100 or not? :confused3 I would really like to know why everyone gets different information from their guides. I am waiting for my guide to call me back so I can at least try and get an answer from her. If it is lower than 100 we may be in and if not, then no deal! I am going to be so disappointed too, because Disneyland is our favorite and we may have to only go there every 2-3 years now since we bought in at SSR and will most likely not have good luck making 7 month ressies.

If I were in your shoes I'm talk to my guide directly and if he/she says you can buy in for less then great! If not then I'd push them on it and have them check. And then if it's still a no go I'd keep following up periodically throughout the Founders' period. I'd also keep following along here. If someone posts that they got in for less I'd email them and see if they'd mind sharing their guide's name and phone number.

It's seriously possible that the word about this within the DVC offices isn't final or consistent. Or that it might change. It's just the reality of how things roll out in large organizations.

I agree. Everyone who wants in at less than 100 should call their guides at least twice a week. They want to sell these points and if the guides are telling their supervisors about the demand for small contracts it will happen. Things are very fluid right now. I was told by my guide that my contracts could not be less 100 on Saturday and then on Sunday I was told they could be as small as 25 points. Don't give up hope and everybody call!

I was going to do a 200 pt add-on, but after seeing the point chart I just can't justify it. Too many nice hotels around Disneyland to justify this.

We started staying at the Grand about eight years ago when my DGD was born. We took our toddler DGS to DL to give our DDIL and DS sometime alone with the new baby. We loved the GC. We are big fans of the Arts and Crafts movement. We love being so close to the park. We have always had excellent service from the CMs who work there. At first, because of the expense we would only stay at the Grand for one of our three yearly trips. But as time went on we found that we missed being at the Grand and that the cost was worth it to us. I have stayed at many five star resorts in my life and my favorite by far is the Grand. The only area it suffers in comparison to other nice places I've stayed at is in the rooms themselves. The lobby is magnificent. We like both of Resturaunts. The pools are nice and the proximity to DL and DCA is so nice. But now that I can stay at the villas (have you been in the models?) the rooms will match the excellence of the rest of the Hotel. I am so pumped about my points at VGC! Eventually I will sell my 300 SSR points and buy some more VGC.

Here's my million dollar (or point - heh) question: Do you think points will be available later on? I would be thrilled if that happens so I can save up to buy more points someday.

Yes, all the resorts hit the resale market eventually.

There will be a chance that the small VGC resale contracts won't make it to the boards or past ROFR, so it would be good to get on a waiting list from Disney too, but you'd have to pay the going rate...

Off to make my call to buy 100 pts!
