Disney Gives Us the Warm Fuzzies - Take Two. TRIP REPORT HAS BEGUN! 1/20 Pg. 92

We're planning for the first show on Sunday. It's usually less crowded than the other weekend shows.

I missed the special on Friday -- I didn't even know about it until yesterday when I was writing down all the other Christmas shows I don't want to miss. I was so disappointed.

Oh what a bummer! Maybe they will have it on YouTube. :confused3

Oooh, love those gingerbread houses!

I can't wait for The Princess and the Frog either. In fact as I'm typing this there was a commercial for it and said it's the best Disney movie since The Lion King. I'll probably have to wait until winter break to see it but that's alright.

SO CUTE!

You inspired me to email my mom and schedule a bake date for next weekend.

I miss cookie day from when I lived in Chicago, it was like that. SO much fun.

But a lot of fun with just me and my mom too :)

I'm not a baker. A cook yes, but not a baker.

So it gets interesting!

I've heard of 2 kids being freaked out by A Christmas Carol. We plan to take all the kids...and still do...but it will be interesting. I think they are old enough but...

hmn.

Oh my gosh, what fun on cookie day!

I'm liking the idea for next year with the wine, too. ;)

Those houses came out great, isn't it fun to see what different people come up with? I love the variety. And thanks for the warning on the Christmas Carol. We actually haven't seen it yet, and I was wondering about whether or not to go for 3D. My son is really excited for the Princess and the Frog though. :thumbsup2

Hi! I followed a link in Jen's siggie to you guys' PTR. :goodvibes

LL - you can really see a huge difference in your before and after pics - you are doing amazing!!! Cookie day looks so fun. I don't know how you resisted all that candy though. I think I would have eaten as much as I put on my house.

Your tree look so cute. :thumbsup2

I love your haircut from the first post too. :goodvibes

Yeah, glue not so much...candy not so much. I LOVE ginger. Period.
Really? I don't like gingerbread....though I like ginger in other things. :confused3

I think your kids will be fine...I think 5 and under would be too scary. You will have to take pictures of your baking creations!

I would pass on Christmas Carol, maybe next year at home on DVD. :thumbsup2 I bet your DS is going to LOVE The Princess and the Frog.

Very cute houses. We are going to make some on Sat.
Have fun making yours!

I think I did take a picture of it, next time I upload photos I'll post it for you! :thumbsup2

Oh those gingerbread houses are adorable!!! My boys love making them every year! This year we made the Gingerbread TRAIN... not as exciting, but they still had fun.... What great candy and house decorations your mom came up with!!! It is fun to let the kids just "do" -- and regarding the mom worried about the amount of candy -- just wait until their precious grabs the frosting tube puts it in the mouth and squeezes... :rotfl::rotfl: That was our new experience this year!!!! Frankly the most exciting part is taking the hammer and demolishing the stale gingerbread house after New Years... at least that is the way a boy things!!! :lmao:

Oh and DITTO on the Christmas Carol... even mine I didn't want to take them, thought they would freak -- we were going to go over Thanksgiving. We settled for the Muppets version instead! :thumbsup2

Such a fun update!!

YAY YAY YAY for Disney in January!!! :goodvibes

Oh wow... your gingerbread house looks incredible  Cookie day sounds like a ton o fun, although I am not a very patient person so I don't know how I would do LOL!
Ooo I just saw the Disney's Christmas Carol in 3D also, it was amazing!!! Really well written, too.

I saw that train kit this year, it was really neat. I bet the boys loved decorating that.

Ooh, demolishing them with a hammer? That sounds like a lot of fun. :rolleyes1

You can't go wrong with the Muppets version of the Christmas Carol. :thumbsup2

I am sure you would do just fine! It was well written, I liked the story part of it a lot.

So you all know those plans we've posted so far??

Throw them out the window. :rolleyes1This is going to be our theme!!

I've gone and done it again. I've added another night! :scared1: LOL!!! NO WAY...You adding a night LOL! Well I guess I should come out and confess I've added a day too.

Let me go back a few days so you can get the full story. It's a shame we don't have sound...this would be a great place to enter flashback music!

I've been trying like mad since Monday to apply the 30 - 45% room only discount to my Pop reservation. No luck.

Then I tried the Annual Pass discount. No luck.

Then I tried the Florida Residents discount. You guessed....no luck.

Did I forget anything, Jen? Nope, but can I say how much it SHOCKS me that there is no type of discout at all for our dates...really...doesn't Disney understand the main reason I live in Florida and own an AP is to get these discounts LOL!

I could apply the 30 - 45% room only discount to Deluxe and Deluxe Villas but that really wasn't in my budget. Nothing for values and nothing for moderates.

Then I started to beat myself up. Why had I canceled that perfectly wonderful Port Orleans French Quarter reservation? Why didn't I just wait a bit. Well, because I didn't think I'd be able to swing a trip at all. I really didn't or I would have NEVER given up that POFQ room. I feel like I've let Jen down even though she insists Pop is fine. You have never let me down, but I love you for caring so much!!! And it is...but I wasn't thrilled with Music last May and I don't want that feeling again. I just don't. I'm spoiled and I know it. I'm spoiled too! DVC will do that to you!

So then I started playing with dates. Then I started playing with my 2010 vacation dates at work. I decided to take a day away from the summer and add Jan. 15th as a full day on my trip. Of course then I wanted to fly out the 14th so I added another night. So as I was playing with dates, I was able to secure a room for three nights with the 35% off discount at a moderate....at POFQ! WOOT!! We get to have our beignets after all. With the discount, these three nights actually come out a little less than paying rack rate for the Preferred room at Pop.

Therefore our reservation is as follows:

Thursday January 14th - Leslie flies out after work, stay at POFQ. Jen starts driving and stays the night at Lake City, FL

Friday January 15th - Jen arrives in the morning. We both stay at POFQ. I talked to my principal and since finals will be over she had no problem approving the day as long as my grades were turned in before I left...no problem with that!!!

Saturday January 16th - POFQ

Sunday January 17th - Pop

Monday January 18th - Pop

My departing flight has been changed. The itinerary is being tweaked. Another ADR has been added. Suitcases have been pulled out. The only thing I haven't done is change my ticker. I refuse to send Madame Leota back to front. Just not going to do it. :rotfl2: Me too,I like being ticker twins LOL!! :rotfl2:

In addition to resort obsessing, I've been trying to solve my luggage situation. I'm not crazy about having to go to baggage after my flight lands at 10PM nor do I like the idea of getting my checked luggage in the morning after I arrive.

I pulled out my suitcases trying to figure out if I could squeeze everything into a carry on and a backpack.

The answer: HECK NO! :rotfl2: I don't know what I was thinking that it would work. This serious overpacker could have saved you the trouble and told you that LOL!! We'll be lucky if I make it out of my house with less than 3 bags, my purse, and my laptop bag LOL!

Marc actually came up with an idea. He suggested that I send some of my things to Jen so she can throw it in her rental car. I asked Jen and she was kind enough to agree to do that for me. Hence, why I bring the rental car, I'm not limited to my luggage capacity which feeds my inner overpacker delightfully!!!! I learned a long time ago not to fight with that beast if I didn't have to LOL!!! Of course that does bring me to the parking issue :rolleyes1

I plan on sending her my black rolling Disney duffel bag. Do you think you'll notice if I trade your Disney duffle for one of my red ones :rolleyes1I might pack a few of my tshirts and my bigger toiletry items so I don't have to worry about that 3oz rule. Then on the way home I can just check the bags because luggage pick up is pretty easy at my airport and it won't cut into any precious Disney time. :rotfl:

Here's my teeny carry on...where will the clothes fit?
JanPTRAgain032.jpg

Here is my bag of bandages and blister prevention/care...so far. I plan to be STOCKED UP!
JanPTRAgain033.jpg

The really sad thing is my stash of bandaids is comparable to yours...we will be well supplied and I think between the two of us we are definitely keeping the Bandaid industry afloat!!!

Here are some more toiletries I picked up this week. I'm going to put my shampoo and conditioner in those pink and purple bottles. I also want to get one more for another hair product I use.
JanPTRAgain059.jpg

I also received my Disney tees and they are perfect! They are even a little baggy but not too big. I am so excited for them. I wish they had more of a variety online for Plus Size. I'd really LOVE a Little Mermaid shirt. :rolleyes1 My Disney tees also arrived and I love them!! Both have been worn to school and have been given the two thumbs up approval from my students!!!

The $15 hoodie I ordered is good too. It fits but it's a little short but for $15 I am going to keep it.
mickmin.jpg
First thing on my to do list when I hit Disney property...buying me that 2010 hoodie, but its my tradition LOL!

My Old Navy order came in too. I love the long sleeve tees and short sleeved tees as well. I think I'm going to feel much more stylish in Disney. Okay well tshirts may not be stylish but I'm going to be feeling good! :rotfl2:Hmmmm...Old Navy....I wonder if I need anything...enabler:rotfl2:

Once I finish tweaking the itinerary, I'll start posting the plans....again. :rolleyes1

Oh My Goodness! Here you go again....:dance3:

Honestly it all looks great! For now....
;)

Hurray for three nights at POFQ!!! Now, you really should get The Princess and the Frog soundtrack! ;)

I know this has been discussed previously...but I can't wait to go see that movie!!! I'm very very excited!!!!!!!!! That and with Harry Potter coming out on DVD very soon...I'm all types of excited LOL!!!

Yay for adding nights at the POFQ. And I'm with you about not changing the ticker. I changed resorts, but Pooh is making his way to the end. I just can't do it :lmao:

Your bandage supply looks good!!! Love the purple suitcase.
