Actually quite a bit more complex than I thought it would be, we had some hair pulling last night. Ended up having to put together a spreadsheet with all of the data to keep the information in one place, otherwise it is very easy to lose track, especially if you are making a high number of card purchases. If something goes wrong, or goes missing, you'll need it. Just for reference, we are looking for about $4000 in total cards.
Accidentally placed an order with my red card - will need go to target to return it. Another order went missing last night, spent an hour on the phone with target to try to figure out where it had gone missing. Never got a confirmation, and I couldn't see the order in history, but the gift cards were all showing used. There must have been some kind of glitch because they eventually found it an assured me it was on the way. Then the Zen card failed, and that put us over the edge.
The savings is good, but takes a considerable amount of time and effort to do it, and if you make one mistake, or have one gift card that fails on you, lost, unresolved dispute, you quickly evaporate almost all your savings.
We consider ourselves savvy deal-hunters online, so things like this are typical for us. But for a newbie, this can get frustrating very quickly. I wouldn't say this deal is for faint of heart, especially when you can get an easy, worry-free 5% using just the Red Card or
Sams Club.
