I just want to make sure I get the whole thing right. You buy target gift cards at raise. the turn around and buy disney gift cards at target making sure you have your redcard listed as the way to pay and you get the additional 5% off.

yes. when you checkout on target.com, before hitting submit, you'll hit edit on the payment line, de-select redcard, select the gift card button, and enter the gc #. the 5% redcard discount stays on the order, thus saving the extra $$$.

Your red card has to be the default payment BUT remember to click pay with a target gift card and not submit the transaction to pay with your Red Card.

Just FYI, you don't have to de-select the red card. I always leave it checked after I enter my GC's

Let me see if I can explain this more clearly.

Any GC that you buy from one of the online discounters has the potential to be used by the original owner if they held onto the GC number and the pin code (or what Target calls the access code).

Even if you purchased a physical GC and have it in your hands, the owner can still make online purchases with that card if they have the GC # and access code.

For that reason, you want to "move" the funds on those cards to a GC of your own. Adding the GC from Raise (or cardcash, or cardpool, etc.) to your Target .com account is not going to protect you, since the original owner may still have all the info he needs to use those funds himself. You need to transfer the funds to another GC to protect the money. You do this by combining those GCs on a "safe" GC that only you have owned.

To combine Target GCs, you need the Target app for your mobile device. It will link you to the mobile target gift card website sign in page when you tap the my GiftCards link. You will want to add your "safe" Target GC first. Then your new GCs can be saved to the account and combined on the safe GC.

Just wanted to say that this method worked very well for me for 5 or 6 gift cards. But then I made a mistake and instead of combining the online seller card onto my original card, I put my original card onto the online seller card. :scared: User error on my part! At least my original card only had $1.13 left on it. I've successfully used all the cards I've bought online and had no fraud so far, but it was a good reminder to slow down and make sure I'm taking the right steps. :teacher:

I did the exact same thing a week ago. I moved the $53 I had on my physical card over to the Raise Target GC I had just purchased. I did this right before work and was worried the entire amount would get cleaned out before I could use it. At my first break I drove up the street to the grocery store and purchased another Target GC and then carefully transferred everything from the Raise card to this new card. I've since printed out the step by step instructions a PP provided so I won't make the same mistake again.

Ok so I had a 5 dollar gift card from target which I loaded. I just purchases $52 gc from Card zen(or whatever it is called). I went in and chose my $5 gc and hit combine and added in my card zen gc. It went through and combined it. I have to wait until I get my red card in the mail before I can purchase the gc online. But once I get it, I put my red card in as default payment and then when I check out I just make sure to pay with gift cards..

Question...and it may be stupid(that is my disclaimer). Once the card zen is combined with my original target gc..Im safe correct? So when I buy my gift card(disney) on Target, I want to make sure I have some left over so I can repeat this whole process? Or do I need to get another physical gift card to add in ?

We didn't need to wait to get the red card, we did the signup online and linked the debit to our checking. The next day we confirmed the deposits and used the numbers from the print-out.

I think you can use the same physical gift card, just keep loading on it when you repeat the process from step #2.
I got my redCard online and didn't have to wait to purchase in store. The print out had my account number on it.

Just a follow up. Giftcard Zen sent me a refund on that one bad gc out of my batch. It was addressed in less than 24 hours after I opened the ticket with them when it didn't work. I've purchased three more cards since then with no problems.

I got mine in the store. The temp. Card has all but the last 4 numbers starred out . I read it and it specifically says for in store use only:(

I'm curious...do the gift card sites accept Visa/ MCard/ Amex prepaid gift cards? I am sure it is listed on here somewhere but since I get 5% cash back and fuel perks (which should cover the $6 fee) I was just trying to think through a little more of a discount. It's probably not worth the few cents but just wondering.

Just checked the movie rewards site and there were no gift cards available. Just a $3 rewards coupon. Maybe next time. At least I know to save my points for that.

PSA. Keep in mind as we save our 13 - 15% it does not take much to lose our savings. Just yesterday I received a package that contained an article of clothing in lieu of my gift cards. I've previously had problems with DVA. Others have had problems with gift cards not activated, or buying target gift cards to find the funds wiped away. I'm finding its a significant amount of work to earn the savings, you have to stay on top of things to realize savings.

Regards.

Yes to using a prepaid giftcard on Raise and no to using one on Cardcash. I tried what your proposing and felt like it was one step too many. Just my feelings. I have a post earlier in the thread about it somewhere. I can post moremore details when I'm not on my phone.

I'm saving > 20% right now. I'd have to encounter huge issues to negate my savings (which should be around $800). I get that people run into problems from time to time, but I guess some people value their time much more than I do because I can't imagine thinking this is too much work for the savings.

do the discounts on raise.com go down when disney cards are in stock or is this dip below 8% because teachers and graduates are done selling their end of the year cards?
