For those of you that order them online, how long does it take for them to be delivered. We leave in less than 2 weeks and would love to be able to use my target gift cards (can't use them in the store and get the discount).

It is usually within a week that they arrive. What do you mean you can't use them in the store and get the discount? You can, just the 5% discount is on the remaining balance (i.e. $50 Disney GC - $30 in Target GC= $20- 5% off =$19 out of pocket). Online, they take the 5% off before applying the GCs (i.e. $50 Disney GC - 5% off =$48.50 - $30 in Target GC= $18.50 out of pocket). Just in case you are worried about getting them on time the savings isn't crazy for online vs store. I usually apply $45 in target GC towards a $50 disney GC.

Thank you for the answer, for some reason I was thinking the savings would be more. Once you broke it down, it's not worth the stress of wondering if they will make it in time. :)

We went out last night and successfully received the 5% Target Red Card discount once again on a stack of Disney GCs. :thumbsup2

Has anyone ordered the 3pak $50 gc from Sam's Club Online? When you get the pak it's still in plastic; how do you know the cards have been activated? Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've not ordered them online before.

Never ordered them online but when you buy them in the store they stay in the plastic. I think there's a barcode on the back that activates all of them.

Can you use disney gift cards to pay off your balance or just in the stores?

you can pay off your balance with them,..

you can also take them with you and pay towards your onsite purchases if you are using magic bands to pay.. you just need to do it prior to them charging the card on file.

I haven't had a chance to read up on this entire thread, but just had a couple of questions based on what I've seen about buying gift cards and getting the best discount.

We do have the Target credit card that gives 5% off and I see that you can purchase a $50 Disney gift card online at Target. Can you combine this with Ebates to get 2.5% cash back on top of the 5% off? So then the $2000 balance I owe for our trip would only end up being $1852? Is there a better discount to look for? I know that buying $50 at a time would take a while but we don't go until October.

Also, when you talk about Target GCs, do you mean the ones you get on their specials for purchasing certain items or is there another way to earn Target gift cards?

You do not get the 2.5% back on Ebates for Target for purchasing gift cards. Gift Cards are excluded.

I have read the past few pages, but not all. A few years ago we did the Sams Disney gift cards when they were doing the bonus $10 card. It was a good savings.

We do not go to WDW until Christmas time, but Im looking to save as much as I can between now and then and would love to pay off our balance with discounted WDW cards!

My problem is we live in a rural area, no Target, Sams or Kroger close. I can get to them every month or so if needed. So far it seems like Target has been the best bet. Does it cost to sign up for their red card? We dont shop there so I wasnt sure. Also, does anyone know if Sams did a similar promotion last Christmas? We are Sams members.

Thanks!

No cost to sign up for the redcard. With the Redcard you also get free shipping so you can order online and have them sent to your house without making that special trip to pick them up since it is not close by.

No, there isn't a cost to get a Redcard but it isn't a shopper's card like grocery stores have. It's their store credit or debit card. So, you are opening a credit card or debit card. I shop at Target a lot so the 5% savings I get is a great perk.

I get Target GCs from using Shopkick (I have earned over $50 in GCs with it), Swagbucks, and from purchasing certain items. Each week I look through their sale flyer and see what has the GCs. Often times there are items in the store that are not in the flyer so I take special notice when I shop too. Mainly the $5 GCs are in the personal care/home cleaning/grocery area. You can get the bigger GCs for electronics, but I don't need to buy any of those. Also, if you accumulate a bunch of $5 target GCs, the store can combine them into 1 big card that you can use online. Online only lets you use about 4 or 5 GCs so this is a good thing to do.

And yes, no charge for the Target red card and you get free shipping!

All,

Thanks for all the tips! I decided to try it out also. I agree that the $20/1000 gift card is an added bonus. Mainly, I like the idea of being able to add the gift cards (from Target when the Pharmacy extra 5% was still working - only wish I bought more) myself. I feel guilty when I call Disney and tell them that I have 20 cards to add. Seems like they should have a way to do it yourself anyway. I will search the boards for more info on this account.

I am VERY curious about the Disney premier Visa deal because we have one also. I would be willing to bet that they don't do the 2% though because it is all Chase. Please post when you see your statement. I did put my $10 to open the account on my premier Visa also today and will post when I get my statement.

Got my Disney VISA Premier card statement the other day and it appears it DOES count as a Disney purchase and I got 1 Disney Dream Dollar for my $50 deposit. So 2% rewards for using the Disney Premier card to load up your vacation account. The Target 5% gift card is still the way to go though.

I noticed that Kroger has another 4x fuel promo that is running until 6/17. Time to stock up on gift cards!

This is great to know! Thanks for the follow-up! I was sure that this wouldn't count.

I was getting worried after seeing the post about the 5% not working, so I picked up another chunk of GCs at Target last night and got the 5%. I am going to test loading some of these onto the Disney Vacation account and then making a payment with it. We are not going until the fall so I got in with enough time to still order the GCs for the $20/$1000

can you explain how this works? how much do i need to buy in gc's to get the $1 off a gallon? i'm canadian so not a lot of krogers here however we are taking a trip to myrtle beach soon and i can pick them up while we are there. i'm sure i can get a kroger card (whats involved in signing up) and i will be there during the 4xs event so just wonder how much i need to spend.

You can sign up at any cash register for the card and they just collect basic data like name, phone, addy, etc.

With the 4x fuel rewards, $250 in GC would get you $1 off up to 36 gallons. They usually expire at the end of the next month. So if I go buy $100 in GC today it will net me $0.40 off a gallon to use by the end of June.
