Disney Gift Card Deals

I also cash out my checkpoints and swagbucks for Target GC then use my RedCard for the extra 5%
when you redeem swagbucks, do you get a target e-gift card or an actual gift card mailed to you? I've never redeemed swagbucks for anything other than amazon gift cards!

Here in TN, they haven't allowed the redcard 5%off in years on Disney gift cards..
That's interesting. I thought all Target registers would be programmed the same way.....to give the 5% discount when paying with the Redcard.

A previous poster mentioned the Topcashback website which gives 2% back at Cardpool. Just got an email that Cardpool is having a "sale" on Walmart gift cards. Link to Cardpool through TopCashBack and purchase Walmart gift cards. Then use the Walmart cards at Sams to get your Disney gift cards . . . TopCashBack = 2% Cardpool = 4% Sams = 4.68% Personal Credit card used in purchase = 1%?? It works out to over 11% in savings. Not bad. I believe Topcashback limits you to $1,000 in purchases. Jodie

Thanks for this info!

Cardpool is out of stock of Walmart gift cards right now. Boo hoo! :-(

It is an egift card code. It either has to be used online or in store with a smart phone/ipod touch, etc. You can not print it out and use it.

I think the only physical swagbucks will send you is the gas cards.

FYI, Sam's Club online currently has a Disney $50 gift card three pack for $142.98. Not quite the 5% that Target offers but close, especially if your credit card gives decent cash back.

Amy

I can only find the one $50 card for $48.88. Does anyone have the link to the three pack--or is it something that they only have every so often?

Forgive me if it has been mentioned, but I saw this tip somewhere online and did it today and it worked great!

It only works when there are 4x fuel points at Kroger.

Buy a $100 prepaid Visa (not variable amt.)
Total is $105.95 and it activates immediately.
You will get 424 fuel points (the $6 activation fee also gives 4x points.)

Then buy a $100 Disney Gift Card (I got the variable amt. one) and pay with the prepaid Visa.
You will get 400 fuel points for that.

That is 800+ points which equal .80 off per gallon.

If I just get the 17 gallons for my car I will only get an extra .80 doing it this way, but every little bit helps! If I am able to fill both car tanks at once - 34 gallons [35 is max] - I will net $21.25 after taking the $5.95 fee out.

If that works, I save 21% on each $100! Worst case scenario [17 gallon fillup], I save 7.65% on each $100, which is a little better than saving 6.80% on each $100 if I only bought the Disney Gift Card.

Plus I get my measly $1.06 from my Disney Visa - I need to get a better paying cc!

I feel sheepish that I hadn't thought to do it that way - the activation fee always scared me off. I'm glad I did the math!

I also earned points this way:
Buy $100 prepaid Visa for $105.95 = 424 fuel points.

Use Visa to buy groceries at Fry's on Fri/Sat/Sun when they give 2x fuel points. Spend $100 = 200 points.

Total= 624 points, or .60 off per gallon. That's $4.25 savings with my 17 gallon fill up after taking out the $5.95 fee.

If I just bought $100 groceries with my regular credit card I'd get 200 points = .20 off per gallon. For 17 gallons that's $3.40.

So an extra .85 at least, and much more if we are able to take 2 cars through to fill up!

Here in TN, they haven't allowed the redcard 5%off in years on Disney gift cards.. i just buy them all online and save the trip. The nearest store is 45 min away as it is... I'd be spending more in gas just to go buy the darn gift cards. Online from home with free shipping works for me! :)

We live in Chattanooga and I stacked with the pharmacy discount in January to buy about $1800 of Disney gift cards to pay dues on DVC, saving 10%. In February I got discount to buy APs. We have 2 stores in our area and I have bought at both as well as in Orlando area in last 6 months.

This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Does Kroger sell any other prepaid Visa amounts other than $100?

Went to BJ's yesterday. They have $50 cards for $47.99 and $100 cards for $95.99. We got several for our cruise next week

yay for this! I didn't want to have to get a Target cc but I have a BJs membership, thanks for posting

I was only able to find the $50 card online. What was odd is that when I "selected my store" and chose the one closest to me the price dropped to $46 and change. I tried to purchase at that price but it would just show the $48.88 price.

When I went into the Sam's club by my home I was able to get the three pack for $142.98.

I like to buy them online because I can use my Starwood Amex and get hotel points for my trip next year to London. So, I went next door to the WalMart and purchased a gift card for the amount I needed on my Amex then went to Sam's to purchase the cards.

I hope that come this holiday season they do the $10 card offer.

They have $25 and $50 - I want to say $3.95 for $25 Visa and $4.95 for $50 but I can't remember now.

If the fee is $4.95 for the $50 Visa:

$54.95 = 219 points = .20 off/gallon
buy a $50 Disney gc with the Visa = 200 points = .20 off/gallon

Total: .40 off/gallon.

17 gallon tank x .40 off = $6.80 - $4.95 fee = $1.85 or, 3.7% off per $50. Meh.
35 gallon max x .40 off = $14 - $4.95 fee = $9.05 or, 18% off per $50 - definitely great!

If you just bought a $50 Disney gc, not the Visa:
$50 Disney = 200 points = .20 off/gallon
17 gallon tank x .20 off = $3.40 =6.8% off $50
35 gallon max x .20 off = $7 = 14%
_____

If the fee is $3.95 for the $25 Visa,
$28.95 = 115 points = .10 off/gallon
buy a $25 Disney gc = 100 pts = .10 off/gallon

Total: .20 off/gallon.
17 gallon tank x .20 off = $3.40 - $3.95 fee = NEGATIVE .55 = Don't Buy $25 Visas!
35 gallon max x .20 off = $7 - $3.95 fee = $3.05 or 12% off per $25. Pretty good!

If you just bought the $25 Disney gc, not the Visa:
$25 Disney Visa = 100 points = .10 off
17 gallon tank = $1.70 off = 6.8% off per $25
35 gallon max = $3.50 off = 14% off per $25

Compared to the $100 Visa gc with $5.95 fee:
17 gallon fill up = 7.65% per $100
35 gallon fill up = 21.25% per $100

The moral of this story: try to use max 35 gallons or close to it to make this work!
Hope I got my math right! :rotfl:

Thought about this last night quite a bit. I’m gonna apologize in advance for this over-the-top wordy analysis . . . This works quite well IF you have a looong time to save for your vacation and if you can have time to purchase all gift cards this way. Since you are getting SO MANY fuel points for such a small purchase price, you will accumulate gift cards pretty slowly. For example, a $500 gift card would earn a whopping 4,000 fuel points in this scenario. Our cruise next summer is a $5K cruise. There is no way I could accumulate enough gift cards (cause my fuel points would expire before I could use them all). So, in that case, I would buy what I could use at Kroger, and then buy the rest at a discount somewhere else - probably Target or Sams. So, in that case, when evaluating savings, you would want to look at TOTAL DOLLARS SAVED, not just percentage. Or figure your overall percentage saved. For my situation, I would be better off NOT using the prepaid Visa and just buying Disney gift cards using my credit card (works out to 14% off that way if you get all 35 gallons). Its the fee that reduces your overall savings . . .

Consider this scenario . . . planning for a $5K cruise in a year. There are usually 4 times each year when Kroger runs their promo – Easter, Father’s Day, Back to School, and Thanksgiving . . .

Kroger Visa Prepaid scenario:
Easter: Buy $600 gift cards = 4,800 fuel points (can’t use much more than this)
Father’s Day: same
Back to School: same
Thanksgiving: same

So, after a year, you have accumulated $2,400 in gift cards toward your cruise. Total savings for each promo is $168 less the $35.70 in fees, or a $529.20 grand total.

But I still have to purchase $2,600 in gift cards elsewhere. Assuming I do this at Target saving 5%, I will save another $130. TOTAL GRAND SAVINGS = $659.20

Kroger Non Visa Prepaid scenario:
Easter: Buy $1,200 gift cards = 4,800 fuel points
Do the same for Father’s Day, Back to School, and Thanksgiving. After a year, you have accumulated $4,800 in gift cards. Since there were no fees, your savings for each promo was $168, or a grand total of $672. You still need to buy $200 in gift cards from Target, saving an additional $10. TOTAL GRAND SAVINGS = $682

You are actually better off in this situation NOT using the Visa Prepaids due to the fees. Its dependent on how long you have to accumulate gift cards before your vacation.

Does anyone else have a headache now?

Edited: I forgot to take into account that the fee will earn fuel points. If you add this in, then total savings in the first scenario is a little better. But the "non Visa prepaid" scenario above still saves more $ overall - at least in this situation.

Lol! My DH was so excited to report he used our $0.50 off a gallon fuel points yesterday to fill his car. I was so bummed he wasted it on 20 gallons instead of using all 35. We usually take both cars together and get exactly 35 gallons. What would've been a $17 savings ended up being a $10 savings. Boo. :(

I take gas cans with me to get the full 35 gallons. Then DH just fills his car using the gas cans I bring home. I can never coordinate our schedules for us both to be at the pump at the same time, so gas cans work better for us.

Jodie

For those who use gas cans: Doesn't gas go stale if you don't use the gas within a certain amount of time? I would love to maximize the savings. However, my car only has a 13 gallon tank, and my husband's work pays for the gas in his company car. Even with a 13 gallon tank, I only fill-up about twice a month. My trip to-and-from work is less than five miles round trip.

I don't know if or when gas goes bad. We always use our gas within a week or two at the most. Lucky you! I wish I used what you do in gas. Between my DH and I, we use about 35 gallons/week.

If you wanted to take gas cans, you would use the extra gas in a few weeks, so I don't think your gas would go bad. You would just have to carefully plan how many gift cards to buy so that you don't end up with more fuel points than you can use.

Jodie

That's the problem. We let fuel points expire a few times. No more than maybe 10 to 20 cents a gallon. But every little bit hurts.

On our last Disney trip last fall, we had to time our gas/mileage to ensure filling up at a Kroger gas station. Our first tank full was free, but we had to pay for the remaining gas. We had about 50 cents in points due to expire beore the end of the trip. We ended up having to pay for a half tank of gas in Knoxville, then filled up 150 miles away in Dalton, GA.

We don't have another Disney trip planned for at least another five years. However, we buy Kroger gift cards for major purchases (Lowes, Best Buy, Amazon).

I agree. I let points expire once, and now I'm more careful. To be honest, if you don't get the full 35 gallons and use lots of gas, I think there are other discounts out there that are better. For someone who doesn't use lots of gas, I like the idea of buying Walmart gift cards at a discount, and then using that gift card to buy discount Disney gift cards at Sams. That the best thing out there now imo if not using Kroger.

For other merchants, I've purchased discount gift cards from Cardpool. You'd have to check the discount %, but it might be better for you than what you're getting from Kroger.

This is a great breakdown! I do prefer the straight 5% discount at Target than the headache coordinating full use of the fuel perks. Now I have to work it all out again but thanks!

I told my husband not to use the fuel discount! He likes to fill up when he still has about 1/4 tank - so even less savings! We're hoping have matching empty tanks by the end of this week so we can see if we can fill up back to back to get 34 gallons total. I have never been this interested in my gas tank level! :lmao:
