Disney Gift Card Deals

I agree on the Kroger 4x being the best deal right now.
I did get 10% buying wmart gcards on cardpool then going to SAMs for the WDW cards.
I didn't realize tcb would pay for purchasing gcards from cardpool, so I missed that extra bit. But I had to wait so long to get paid by tcb, I'm not sure I would do it anyway.

But I saved 16% with Kroger 4x.
So I'll stick with that.

Yeah, I'm at about 19% (8% with 20 gallon fillup + 6% on my Amex + 5% toward my kids' fundraising obligation for swimming).

Makes my every two or three year Disney Cruises in reach on our tight budget.

I spread out when I buy so I never have too many fuel points. My current balance on my cruise is about $1000 and has to be paid in full next January. I know they will run 4x points 3 more times this year. So I'll just buy $300-400 in Disney gift cards each time. Right now I'm sitting on 1,800 points plus 400 from last month. I fill up twice a month so I'll easily use those points by the end of June.

Wow! Wish my Amex gave me 6%!!!

I just bought $500 worth of Disney gift cards in store at Target yesterday, and the 5% came off, no problems. I also bought Starbucks cards to give for Teacher Appreciation, and those were 5% off, as well.

Not sure why the poster upthread had issues - maybe it was a one time glitch? But the Red Cards still work in store for the discount!

I just ordered more $50 DGC online from Target. I got my 5% RedCard discount ... just letting you all know who were worried about the 5% going away. It still works online. I haven't tried in-store because that requires me driving 30 miles :drive:.

I just bought $1300 in gift cards at target, 5% applied ;) Now calling to apply them to my reservation has kinda been a pain. But worth the savings to me!

Have you tried the Disney vacation account? It makes it really easy to apply those Giftcards into one bundle. I've been utilizing it to save for our Disney cruise, 1 $50 Giftcard at a time ;)

Not to mention you receive 2% back with every $1000 spent - every little bit counts!

I'm doing the same for our upcoming WDW trip. I'm uploading my cards to the DVA and then plan to buy my tickets from there. I couldn't figure out another way to pay with all those gift cards in advance and get my tickets early enough to make FP+ reservations. Hope the purchase goes smoothly.

There have been LOTS of complaints, however. Just make sure you read the FAQ's and T&C's carefully. One thing to note is that you can't use a TA and also pay with the DVA.

As I understand it, you can no longer stack the 5% Target Pharmacy rewards coupons with the 5% red card discount, but the red card 5% still works.

this is very cool! Thank you for sharing! How do I set up a Disney vacation account?

You have to set it up with $10 from a credit card. Then you can start adding gift cards. I find their system to be a pain. I often get error messages, so I have to try again later when adding my gift cards. Just be sure to read everything. You can't use the account in conjunction with a TA. Its for big things like tickets, packages, cruise fare, etc. You can't use it to pay for dinner at WDW, for example. Its a new product, and there has been lots of confusion it seems. Good luck!

NO!!! Looking into it now! :)

Hi, so this was news to me. I hadn't heard about this. I have a bunch of Disney gift cards accumulated for a trip that is already booked (bounce back from last year). Any idea of this would work for us? I can't seem to figure out if this would work if you already have reservations. Also, do you have to have some type of auto-savings or can you just do multiple gift cards? It would be nice to get another $20 per $1000 back.

Thanks for the tip!!

Yes - you can definitely add multiple gift cards to the account (I have been doing just that). I do believe you can pay your cruise balance from the account. Just read ALL the Terms and Conditions + FAQ's first. And keep your gift cards after loading them in case you need a refund. Also, there are several threads about DVA's - not a bad idea to read up before opening.

This DVA seems interesting to me. If I use my Disney Premier card to deposit the money into the account do I get a 2% bonus for it being a Disney thing? If so this seems like a pretty sweet deal and easier than buying a million gift cards from Target for the 5%

Don't know about the Disney Premier card for sure, but kinda doubt it would count as a Disney thing. Its a $20 bonus for every $1,000 in PURCHASES - like tickets, cruises, etc. If you spend $1,999, you still just get $20.

IMO, the thing to do is to still buy the million Dis GC's at Target. But then upload them to the DVA to get the additional bonus.

However, I still like the Costco cash card deal. I book my cruises and name Costco as the TA. That cash card works out to about 8% of the cruise fare - a better deal than the DVA.

Read the fine print. You must have the account open for a while before the bonus kicks in (6 months I think).

I think I read 120 days before you can request the gift cards.

That sounds right. It will be interesting to see how this goes. I'm not really doing it for the bonus gift card (although its a nice perk), but as a way to consolidate my gift cards so that I can purchase park tickets easily.
