I tried buying $500 of GCs in the Target Store on Thursday (4/24) with my pharmacy rewards. The pharmacy rewards didn't apply to the GCs, but I did get my 5% red card discount.

Pharm rewards no longer work on gift cards. Luckily the red card discount does.

Of course they "said" that (that's why I don't "ask"), but did you actually "try" to buy the gift cards and the computer didn't take off 5% with your red card?

Yes after I swiped my card and the balance due didn't change that is when I said something because I always got it in the past. She called someone over and they said the discount doesn't work on any of the cards as of a couple weeks ago. I had them cancel the transaction. I was able to do it online last night.

I bought $600 of gift cards today and the 5% came off no problem. We never got pharmacy rewards here in NY, so I didn't lose anything there.

I don't think you will lose the 5% red card ever target does not have to pay a swipe fee on the red card so that saves them 2-3% off the top. They make an average of 10% of profit on gift cards. iTunes is high margin since apple makes 30% on everything in the iTunes Store that is why I guess they give 10% off them some times. My guess since Disney is a premium brand they might not make much more then a few % that is why we don't see any good discounts.

I still say its too much work for 5% ! I also feel sorry for the Cast Members who are handed 50+ cards! My Credit card will give me 3% with no work or hassle

Just noticed a promo for this Fri/Sat/Sun only. Here is the verbage on their website. I haven't been to the store to see what "restrictions apply." Will check it out on Friday . . .

Hopefully it's the normal restrictions (Kroger gift cards, prepaid MC, etc.).

I need to get Target, Gap, Disney, and Dominos. And maybe Amazon.
