I've used both without any problems. Most recently it's been electronic gift cards.
I have used BB electronic gift cards for Disney gift cards, without any problems, for the last couple of years, or so. Today, when I wanted to get another card, I casually asked the cashier a question, and she paged a manager to come to the checkout area; she did not complete my transaction. When she asked the manager about purchase of Disney gift cards with BB gift cards and if that will continue to be allowed, he insisted that customers can't buy other gift cards with BB gift cards, and that it's nothing new. I told him that it's a recognized allowable practice, and that I, as well as others, have been doing just that, without any issues.
I don't know if he didn't believe me or not, but he asked for my BB rewards number and looked up my purchase history. He acknowleded that he could see those prior transactions, but he kept saying it wasn't allowed and could not figure out how they processed the transactions. His final comment was that maybe electronic gift cards worked, but not physical gift cards.
He then asked the cashier if the transaction worked, and when she said she hadn't tried, he told her to go ahead and try; of course, it went through in seconds. The manager walked away, not admitting he did not know what he was talking about!
I don't think I'm concerned, right now, about this type of transaction being disallowed in the near future. Another
Best Buy store told me earlier in the week that there's no upcoming change.
