Attend the DVC and shopping presentations they have drawings at both for give-aways. Back in Feb at the DVC presetation DW and I won a tote bag and passport holder, at the shopping presentation we won a bottle of tequila. At the shopping presentation they had other items including gold earings, extra discounts to some of the stores, gift baskets, and additional items.

Landyard will be given when you board for your second cruise when you become a Castaway Member. 1st time cruisers won't receive a landyard unless you are DVC members.

There are "shopping guides" on the boat who will give a presentation and coupon book at each tourist port you stop at. Just pop in to listen and get the book. Sometimes you get discounts; others it is something free.

We have never played bingo, so I can't help you there.

Jan 2012 will be my first Disney cruise. I'm the only DVC member among our group. Will everybody from my room get a landyard? Or...only me?

We went to the Shopping presentation this past May and we all won a gift. Be loud and excited!! She throws them out into the seats to the area that is loud and excited. You will also get a lot of coupons for free items in Nassau. Mostly earrings and necklaces. We even got some gem stones, unset. We also received coupons for $$ off of items at the bamboo sheet and towel place. I bought the towel set.

We sailed on a B2B as 1st time DCL'ers. We received our lanyard on our second cruise!!

I was on the Dream in April with someone that was not a DVC member.
One night we got a wooden box with 2 landyards in it.:cool1:

They also give out prizes at games other than bingo (ex. trivia). They give out things like key chains, water bottles, etc.

Hi All!

On our first cruise in 2005 I vollunteered for EVERYTHING! I also know that being excited (you are on a Disney cruise so that should be easy), enthusiastic and supportive of everyone who is playing a game or winning a prize (whether you know them or not) seems to help get more goodies. I don't know if it is the positive attention I attract or the good karma or both, but that has always stood me in good stead. And I am very fortunate and win a lot of things.

Pay attention to the special announcements in your Navigator. There are some free drawings and the winner must be present (I like those best myself) opportunities for free bingo cards if you make a gift store purchase during specified times and other "deals" to be had if you keep your eyes peeled.

Also being your most friendly, helpful self with the castmembers is a good ifpdea ( and the right thing to do too). On our first cruise, because I was my usual upbeat, fun self I seemed to win more and a CM who had seen me at several other onboard events even bent the rules to let me join a special tour group.

Oh, and if you haven't done it already, be sure to join your meet thread (or start one if there isn't one already) and join in your cruises FE (Fish Extender - kind of like a Secret Santa) gift exchange with your fellow DISer's. Oh, and when you join your meet thread, don't just be a lurker. Get in there and interact. It will add immeasurably to your cruise experience.

My DIS pals helped cheer me into a Disco Dance contest (and believe me I SOOOOO can't dance) where I won a medal. There were also a couple of folks who were booked into the Roy suite who threw a party and invited everyone on our cruise meet thread. I think that experience was one of the best "freebies" and memories from our trip.

Enjoy your cruise!

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

The important question though is - how have the towels been? Any buyer's remorse?

I have wondered about this myself. I do have a shirt from there, bought it in Sept 2009, still in wonderful like new condition and I love it!

DVC will give the member as many lanyards and hats as they ask for. We have taken back lanyards and hats to friends and family not even on the cruise many times. It's a great free souvenir (sp?) for the people at home. :thumbsup2

I have a shirt and shorts, my wife Capris from the store - but the towels were a whole other level of cost (+ shipping) and/or space in luggage. We passed - but since we'll be returning soon...

Agreeing with a previous post:

1. Go to the DVC presentation!! I didn't think I'd be interested in going, but I had a couple hours to spare at that time while DD was with the teens. It was very interesting if you don't know how DVC works. They have 2 different types of presentations, one for DVC members only, and one for anyone who wants to learn about the DVC. They had "trivia" type questions and you could win small things, but not sure what they were cause I didn't win. But everyone who attends recieves a DVC reusable shopping bag, and a neat black & white print of Walt Disney and his wife. I will try to get a pic on here soon. If you attend the DVC member one, I heard you recieve more stuff!!
It lasted about an hour and ten minutes.

2. Join your cruise meet and do the FE!!! This was so much fun! You will recieve little gifts from each of the participants, which is a neat little added surprise to each day.

Here's the free DVC tote and print:
