So what if they took a ride that DOES have excessive waits FP+ only?

Is that better or worse than making Pooh FP only?

Just as bad? Worse maybe, because Pooh can be met elsewhere, but there's only one Soarin'.

I was commenting on idea that this is good because there is now something for kids to do. This was there for kids to do previously and it did not require a FP. So what has really been gained from a guest perspective here? The ability to skip what maybe was 5-10 minutes with the downside of needing to burn a FP here to participate at all?

Choosing it for a 4th FP+ really is the smarter choice seeing as how WS doesn't even open until 11:00 anyhow.

Not that I think the M&G ever really needed a FP+, just that if a family really wanted to meet Pooh and Tigger it would be smarter to use it after the original 3. I think. Who knows what Disney will do next. Bathrooms might end up as FP+ Tier 1 options. Or, you'll need to buy bathroom tokens.

You know I always felt sort of guilty when I used to play Roller Coaster Tycoon and would charge admission to the washrooms, but maybe I was just ahead of the curve

This change has me really, really concerned about the direction things appear to be heading.

Am I going to be paying thousands of dollars for my family to only see a few rides that we have (hopefully) reserved in advance? Having rides or M&Gs that are FP+ ONLY is ridiculously alienating. The tiering (only able to choose ONE tier 1 ride in Epcot?????) is ridiculous. It's forcing me onto rides I don't want in order to get another FP for a ride I do want.

I was excitedly planning our trip but now wonder if things are going to be worse by the time we expected to arrive.

Honestly? I think I may have to put planning on hold until I see how this plays out.

Swim at the resort, go bowling, eat at restaurants, but don't ride the rides.

I've been joking about "appointment riding" for a long time now. This really is getting a little too closer to reality than I like.

It's getting closer. Instead of rides and attractions, spend $120.00 to see festival of the lion king during Harambe Nights!

Summer's coming.......

Their biggest "I just bought a ticket at the gate, what do I do now?" crowd. There's gotta be something for them to grab.

Hey, Disney said they're very encouraged by how many guests are now using FP+. And, we've had spurts of busy through the Holiday weekends and Spring Break. Now, it's full on, no break. I guess it shows they are getting a lot of advanced ressies.

But, it still always goes back to capacity. Somewhere, Bcrook is nodding and smiling......

This Pooh news stinks!

My guess why this is FP+ only is that they wanted more FP+ attractions in EPCOT. The current setup doesn't lend itself to two lines, and the capacity is low, so the area might get too crowded if they had two queues, with SB moving slowly due to FP+ priority. That being said, this never needed FP in the first place. GRRR. Just when I was almost coming to terms with FP+. They reel me in and they throw me back.

Last trip, we met Pooh and the gang at CP dinner. We were there because we want to meet Piglet and Eeyore. Currently, I think Pooh is everywhere (MK, AK, Epcot). I think there is no problem cutting 1 location, but making the Epcot one a T1 FP+ only is just absurb thinking.

IMO, if they want to make something "T1 FP+ only", it'd better be meeting some very rare characters, not Pooh and Tigger.

Ding, ding, ding! Disney needs more FP+ options for people to use for those extra FP+. The more exclusive they feel, the better. I wonder how much this will spread to other M&Gs?

I hope all of them as I can't stand FP+ and what it has done to stand by lines for the ride attractions. Making all of the M & G's FP would definitely force some people out of those lines.

And you get to pick your own time to come back to a line that likely would have been empty enough to just stand there and wait. Yay!

Or better yet....... you have a FP..... and you show up 15 minutes early......... but have to stand and wait 10 minutes for the light to turn green......... while Pooh just sits there all alone!

This is a "test" to see how FP+ only works. Logistically, public relations, all of it. And they start in Epcot, AK, and DHS

But what about MK, would MK be left out of this? Nah!...Let's say in about two weeks or so time...perhaps a new, high-demand ride comes out of the gate with...FP+ ONLY.

I bet FP+ booking is through the roof for 7DMT. Possibly every spot is already taken. They can't have a standby line, if they do, then FP+ looks bad when people are waiting too long in it. And then the standby line clogs up their new baby New Fantasyland even more than it already is. I bet A&E get added in the same time.

There is no way this stops here and there is no way this is just about Pooh in WS.

I think you are right- I think they have visions of a FP+ only WDW where you must have a reservation for everything you want to do. I'm starting to feel like a cow being herded and I don't like it. I feel like they think we are stupid and they can manipulate us anywhere they want us to go. I also feel like they have absolutely no clue how big the pushback is going to be on this if they start heading in this direction.

I refuse to believe (maybe I'm just being naive) that Disney would turn an extremely popular attraction into FP+ only with absolutely zero alternatives. That would be absolute madness for the CMs, if nothing else.

I can somewhat see the logic in doing it for a meet and greet with alternatives elsewhere. I don't like it, but I can see why Disney would want to do it. The exclusivity of it might pull people to it instead of a more popular alternative for their additional FP, however it's only restrictive to guests who want to meet without a FP in that park. The backlash wouldn't be near as bad as something like 7DMT.

Well there is always one in the bunch and I guess it's me.

I actually think I might like this. I absolutely hate waiting in line for m&g's. While I'm waiting to meet these FP+ only characters I can now Shop, get snacks, use the bathroom, wait out of the sun, and not worry about my son having a meltdown. I'm sure the shop & get snacks is what Disney is really hoping for$$$!!!

If there is a character he wanted to meet previously (we have not been since the new DAS only GAC) we took turns waiting in lines. With FP+ we can now sit and read the map and do all the things mentioned above without having to keep checking with my the rest of my party waiting in line if it's our turn yet.

Now I can say "ok buddy our turn is between this X time and X time" which is much better for us.

I'm hoping that they still will be available later in the day. But we usually have multi-day trips so I also could see us booking it with the initial three later in the week after we did all our must sees and must dos.

Just my opinion
