Disney finally Made Me Mad

Well there is always one in the bunch and I guess it's me.

I actually think I might like this. I absolutely hate waiting in line for m&g's. While I'm waiting to meet these FP+ only characters I can now Shop, get snacks, use the bathroom, wait out of the sun, and not worry about my son having a meltdown. I'm sure the shop & get snacks is what Disney is really hoping for$$$!!!

If there is a character he wanted to meet previously (we have not been since the new DAS only GAC) we took turns waiting in lines. With FP+ we can now sit and read the map and do all the things mentioned above without having to keep checking with my the rest of my party waiting in line if it's our turn yet.

Now I can say "ok buddy our turn is between this X time and X time" which is much better for us.

I'm hoping that they still will be available later in the day. But we usually have multi-day trips so I also could see us booking it with the initial three later in the week after we did all our must sees and must dos.

Just my opinion :)

...and THIS is the true benefit of FastPass+!!!

It lets all guests have a good experience doing the things that are important to THEM.

I refuse to believe (maybe I'm just being naive) that Disney would turn an extremely popular attraction into FP+ only with absolutely zero alternatives. That would be absolute madness for the CMs, if nothing else.

I can somewhat see the logic in doing it for a meet and greet with alternatives elsewhere. I don't like it, but I can see why Disney would want to do it. The exclusivity of it might pull people to it instead of a more popular alternative for their additional FP, however it's only restrictive to guests who want to meet without a FP in that park. The backlash wouldn't be near as bad as something like 7DMT.

I hear you, it's bananas to think about. Here's the thing though...they might not have a choice. I don't know the capacity numbers for 7DMT (bcrook does I bet!), but what if there aren't enough spots to have a standby line and still have a functional FP+ line based on current prebooking numbers.

I think you are right- I think they have visions of a FP+ only WDW where you must have a reservation for everything you want to do. I'm starting to feel like a cow being herded and I don't like it. I feel like they think we are stupid and they can manipulate us anywhere they want us to go. I also feel like they have absolutely no clue how big the pushback is going to be on this if they start heading in this direction.

Based on the long lines I saw at guest relations, Disney knows what kind of pushback they will get, and they don't care. They are invincible.

So what would be the true benefit of FP+ only from a guest perspective? I see how it benefits Disney, but not how it benefits guests.

That's the issue being brought up over and over, yet nobody seems to have a positive response to that part of it. I bet adding FP+ here wouldn't be a blip on people's radar if it was a tier 2 (you might even have the majority here happy), would have a bit of discussion if it was a tier 1, but nothing compared to the reaction that a FP exclusive meet will get.

The idea of more of this coming down the line is downright scary to many of us.

I'm on board with FP being available for M&Gs. I just really dislike FP being the only option available, especially with FP numbers so limited.

Sure - the more the merrier. Just an FYI though - I have 8 nieces and nephews that'll be running all over the place so you might want to bring earplugs.

So it will be just like visiting Crystal Palace, only the crowd will be smaller. :)

I personally could care less about M&G's but the idea of making one a tier one FP only is outlandish. If you want to get through to the powers that be, don't show up at all. That's right, a boycott will send a message that this is unacceptable and they will be forced to rethink it. Trust me, this will work.

I was starting to come around to FP+ since they added the ability to get more but making attractions FP only is ludicrous. Where will this end?

I dunno, I don't think they would release enough spots for FP+ that would cause them to have to basically eliminate stand by. They know their own numbers to not do that, unless of course they did it intentionally.

But again I (naively) don't think they would.

ummm...the fact that less people will get FP+'s for Soarin and TT, making that FP+ easier to get.

All changes to fastpass work well for some part of the population.

So in your case, you aren't needing the tier 1 FP for test track or soarin, that makes the meet and greet valuable. But far more people need or want to use the tier 1 for one or the other of the headliner rides, and now can't even see pooh at Epcot.

In July, there will be 50,000 people wandering around Epcot. Disney only has a total of about 22,000 FP to give out for both rides combined. That is a whole lot of unhappy people with nothing to use their FP on. They have to create something.

Fastpass counter service is in the future.

But again I (naively) don't think they would.

But if the goal of the FP+ is to "lock people in" then it's in their best interest to release as many 7DMT spots to FP+ prebooking as needed.

We'll see. The whole thing is just bizarre.

How can you be so sure?

I'm confident that's what Disney hopes happens, but they are not Anna and Elsa. They are available for meeting at multiple other places that don't require sacrificing a headliner to meet. People are much more likely to book this as an additional FP rather than the initial one, even the least savvy tourist can likely realize that Pooh & Tigger are available elsewhere and Soarin', TT, Illuminations, hell even Maelstrom are not. Otherwise, shouldn't the Character Spot FP+ appeal to families with children leaving the Soarin'/TT for others?

I think they may be a popular choice once Soarin/TT become harder to get as more people use their initial 3, but that hardly opens up more Soarin' and TT. I think this is done to give more options to make FP+ look better by putting FP where it wasn't needed, kind of like how Philharmagic and Figment have one.
