Disney finally Made Me Mad

Say what you want about Pooh....

For as long as people are willing to spend $40 a head on breakfast just to see Pooh at Crystal Palace....I'm pretty sure Disney is confident that they can make him a FP+ tier 1 attraction. (especially in a park with very few things for little ones to do)

It's not $40 a head, it's more like $25. Quite reasonable, and not unlike most other breakfast meals in WDW. We spend $25 a head to eat a nice breakfast and get into the MK early. Pooh is a nice bonus and we don't have to wait to see him elsewhere later.

I think Disney is attempting to create more options for the rolling FP with this, possibly testing the waters for guest response to FP+ only attractions, I think the numbers of people who will book it as an initial FP are low and likely have little impact on the big picture in Epcot.

We don't even LIKE Pooh and we do CP for breakfast. We love getting into the MK early and we love looking out over the park while we eat. Oh, and Pooh's puffed pancakes are TDF!

...and for the families who don't have an extra $150-$200 for breakfast....they can see Pooh instead of Riding Test Track (that their kid probably cant go on anyway)

I cant believe how many parent are like "screw my kid if he wants to see Pooh, we're riding Soarin!"

But they could have seen Pooh for free before, in the same spot where it is now FP+ Only.

I don't think anyone is questioning the FP+ part of it...it's the FP+ only part that is boggling and makes you wonder what they are up to.

This news makes me sad. It was one of my favorite little "hidden" spots for a nice little M&G. It was a nice break from the sun, a really cute little set up, very short line and something to interest my little ones in the WS. I will miss it.

At a time when some people were starting to come around on it. Really has me scratching my head.

Summer's coming.......

Their biggest "I just bought a ticket at the gate, what do I do now?" crowd. There's gotta be something for them to grab.

Hey, Disney said they're very encouraged by how many guests are now using FP+. And, we've had spurts of busy through the Holiday weekends and Spring Break. Now, it's full on, no break. I guess it shows they are getting a lot of advanced ressies.

But, it still always goes back to capacity. Somewhere, Bcrook is nodding and smiling......;)

My wife only does CP because of Eeyore so that other argument up there doesn't hold water with us.:confused3

I also wonder if these Meet and Greets will become "above and beyond" current M&G in terms of interaction. Since the CM's will know how busy they are, perhaps the characters will be able to spend a lot more time when they aren't fully booked.

Are you kidding? I totally said screw my kid if he wants to see Pooh

More like Pooh is available to meet in multiple places in the parks, so when the choice is between meet Pooh in Epcot or skip a 60 minute line, you better believe we're skipping the line. Our trip is about all of us, not just one member of the family.

And anyways, your argument was that parents of kids who love Pooh are definitely going to skip Soarin'/TT FP now to meet them. Maybe if Pooh and Tigger were as hard to see as Anna and Elsa, but they are certainly not. This parent of a Pooh loving toddler will direct him to Pooh meet and greets elsewhere or obtain them as a 4th possibly 5th FP, he'll survive the horror, I'm sure.

Jeremy's comment about screwing kids out of seeing pooh could have been directed at me too. I knew it was going to sound selfish. Really I'm not selfish IRL. I have an ADR at CP on our first day so not worried about not meeting Pooh and Tigger. However, if I didn't have an ADR, my plan would be arrive prior to RD and ride TT. Have FP+ set up 9-10 for Soarin', 10-11 living with the Land and 11-12 turtle talk or nemo. Once I ride Soarin' I would move up Living with the land (I'm thinking there will be availability to do so). And then once I ride living with the land, I'd move up turtle talk or nemo. I'm thinking I can get all this done by 10:30 or so. Then book FP+ #4 for Pooh & Tigger. To be fair my trip is at the end of Oct so I do think the ability to move up #2 and #3 FP+ will be there since it's a less crowded time. I'll make sure to visit Epcot during the week so I not dealing with the F&W crowd. But I do think it's quite probable to do all the main rides in Epcot and still get a FP+ for Pooh and Tigger.

My next trip is with my sis and her family. It'll be a one and done for them. I know this trip will not be all about the rides and we'll be taking it a little slower than I am used to (I am usually a rope dropper to closer). I know I won't be going on space or splash numerous times b/c my niece and nephews will want to ride dumbo, PP, and Pooh ride more than the bigger rides. I'm totally fine with that. It's all about them. But they are tall enoug to ride Soarin' and TT and I personally think it would sad to not let them have the opportunity to ride those rides.

Great, now that's what I want for dinner, thanks for the craving ;)

Exactly.

I don't get the "YAY NOW SOMETHING FOR KIDS TO DO!!" as this is not a new attraction and not one that saw excessive waits.

Wait. Maybe this is just a "test". Or did Disney know they were going to do this all along and are just now rolling it out. Huh...

How will this work with DAS cards. I am assuming they won't be allowed since there is no standby line with a wait time posted to give you a return time...

I can almost guarantee you that the DAS will not be allowed at the FP+ only M&Gs. They'll be treated like the M&Gs that don't have a FP+ line -- not usable for DAS holders.

Pretty much this! :thumbsup2

So what if they took a ride that DOES have excessive waits FP+ only?

Is that better or worse than making Pooh FP only?

I know, I know. But as Mom pointed out at least we won't have to carry little pieces of paper around and worry about losing them or dig in our pockets to find them. :rotfl:

And you get to pick your own time to come back to a line that likely would have been empty enough to just stand there and wait. Yay!

Which one? I've had a number of them over time. Not all of which can be posted here.

I don't know the real word, but I too have quite a few options.

I'm always willing to take one for the team.

Or two. :drinking1:

I'm with you.

At a time when some people were starting to come around on it. Really has me scratching my head.

Ah... The summer crush hasn't started. Demand is still much too high for supply.

Choosing it for a 4th FP+ really is the smarter choice seeing as how WS doesn't even open until 11:00 anyhow.

Not that I think the M&G ever really needed a FP+, just that if a family really wanted to meet Pooh and Tigger it would be smarter to use it after the original 3. I think. Who knows what Disney will do next. Bathrooms might end up as FP+ Tier 1 options. Or, you'll need to buy bathroom tokens.

Off topic - but can you describe these puffed pancakes? I know I won't be able to have them (stupid gluten), but I might try to recreate. =)
