Disney Fantasy ~ October 4, 2014 ~ Eastern Caribbean

Welcome, and congrats on the anniversary! DH and I are also celebrating our 10th anniversary on this trip.

What are you planning to do in Florida before the cruise?

Honestly don't know at this point. Maybe Universal and SeaWorld??? WDW may be too much Disney on this trip, or at least be too big to explore in 2 or 3 days.

Disney has the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on select nights during that time frame and Universal has Halloween Nights. Either of those Might be something to do in a day/night.

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise while on the Dream this week.

It's so much easier disembarking when you know you're coming back. Still, it's a sad day when you get off the ship. On this trip we stated an additional day at a hotel that overlooks the ocean about 30 minutes south of PC. While eating we watched the Dream head back out to sea.

This will be our 6th Disney Cruise, but our first 7 day cruise. We'd love to sign up for the FE too

It's Scott (DH -50, well not yet but I will be 50 at cruise time), Brandi (DW - 36) and Connor (DS - 10)

Welcome to you and your family! Check out our Facebook page if you're on FB, and I'll add you to the FE.

Where are you from?

This will be our first 7-night cruise, too!

We are from Chattanooga TN... although DW is originally from Texas, just outside of Houston.

Once we get home we'll jump on the FB page.

We're already gearing up for our first ever DCL cruise! My DH (Jason) and I (Michelle) will be cruising with our DD (Abbie Clair - 3) and DS (Will - 5). We're booked in room #6030. Welcome any tips for this newbie! ;) Have been reading about FE and am very intrigued for more info. Also, if anyone has kids with special needs and can give us any advise we'd appreciate it. Our son is Autistic (high functioning). We think he isn't ready for the parks just yet and have opted to cruise instead.

Cannot wait for next October to be here!!!!

Welcome aboard!

We started sailing when our son was 5...he's high functioning Aspergers. We haven't done the parks yet. But, he's been great on the ships.

We haven't decided where we are staying pre-cruise yet. We've usually stayed somewhere in the Orlando area (8 hour drive from Tennessee), then we drive the final hour the morning of the cruise. We really like the Park n Cruise off Banana River Dr on Sea Ray Dr... but this past year we parked at the Radisson, it seemed a little disorganized. Once we got going, drop off and pick up was fine.

But this next year, I'm not sure. Since its a longer cruise (our first 7 day), we might stay at a hotel at the port and use their shuttle service instead. We will drive in on the Friday, then after the cruise we will probably drive back home to have a day at home before work and school starts up again. On the shorter cruises we've stayed an extra day or two along the coast, but not this time.

If anyone is driving in that morning and want to use a Park and Cruise place, I highly recommend Park n Cruise http://www.parkcruise.com

Thanks for the great tips :thumbsup2
We are planning on driving down Friday Morning but if we are feeling ambitious we may try to head out Thursday evening after work.

Have grand plans on trying to have a Park Day on Friday. Ha!

Thursday after work?!?! Don't think we could do it. :lmao:

Getting up and leaving by 6am on Friday, that we can do. :)

Cool! My boys used to do that with my husband but haven't done it in a while....maybe they need to try it again! (is there an app for that? Clueless here!)

We have been riding our bikes on our local Greenway trail and there are 4 just along our ride alone. Who knew lol

All of the Ports of Call list cache's. Think it would be fun to find and log cache's along the way.

The parks have virtual or visual cache's; due to Disney's request not to place physical cache's around the park.

Happy Happy Friday everyone!!!

Just in case you didn't know... there are only 50 more Friday's until our Fantasy cruise! :cool1:

A word of advice...DON'T OVER PACK....I know this will be the hardest thing to do, or not do...Our first cruise I think we had 8 bags for 4 people, our last cruise we had 3 bags...that included our Tuxes and my wife's formal dress. We have 2 large bags & a hanging bag. My wife packs my son's clothes & my clothes in a medium size suit case and she puts it into one of the larger suitcases...why you may ask...for the stuff she buys on the ship....that's right, board with 3, leave with 4. :confused3 For those who drive to the port, you can carry out your purchases in the shopping bags, but those who fly, you will need the extra suit case. Our first cruise, we flew from Birmingham and had to buy 2 suitcases on the ship just to get our merchandise back. WE HAVE DRIVEN everytime since then. :drive: We are cruise line "junkies", when my wife found out you can only buy cruise line merchandise on the ship, she loads up...

OK, back to packing....take out what you think you need...now put half of it back...do you really need 5 pairs of shoes...NO. Do you really need 6 dresses...NO. Does you husband really need 5 pairs of shorts....NO. Does he really need 6 shirts....NO. What your husband really needs, 2 pairs of shorts (he is not going to be playing in the mud, he can wear them more than once), 2 maybe 3 polo type shirts...1 long pair of dress pants (wear a different shirt, no one will ever know), 1 dress shirt & a tie for simi-formal night, a Tux. 2 bathing suits & 2 t-shirts, socks and drawers...Ladies, are you getting this? Remember, if your like us...you will be in a bathing suit 75% of the time...my wife has learned the "military roll" for my clothes. Plus, there is a ironing board located on almost every floor of the ship....

I hope this helps....

Up next: excursions...
