Definitely keep your cards! We've gotten credit refunds with both of our last cruises...only about $40 but I think it's because port taxes came in lower than expected.

Thanks for the added tips. Never gave a thought to using them to pay off any charges incurred on board.


When i applied them to the cruise the CM advised me to keep the cards in case any credits were given post cruise and applied back to any of those cards.

Credits? I highly doubt it lol

When paying off the cruise, I use the gift cards until I get down to the final $50-$75 and use my CC for that. That way if there is any refund (a couple of times now I've gotten a refund of $5-$15 sometime shortly after the PIF date), it goes back to my CC and not the gift cards. Then I load up the onboard account with an amount that I know will be spent and bring along some extra and add them as necessary. Then I let the final room charge go through the CC on file.

I even brought extra on this last trip and used them to pay the deposit for this booking.

This thread is so....quiet! Anybody out there???

As of yesterday I have now purchased all of our Pirate Night costumes.

We are also doing a weekly countdown activity. Sunday the kids decorated jars for souvenir savings:



Now I am thinking about our FE. This is our first cruise, first time participating in FE exchange. I don't sew, but I am soliciting help from friends and family members who do sew.

I have also started collecting pictures and designs for our door magnets. I think I am just going to print them in color on card stock, laminate them on a simple laminator my MIL has, and then put magnetic strips on the back. This will cost little to nothing to accomplish.

I am just so excited about this cruise, I want to be doing SOMETHING to get ready for it at all times...

Does anyone else have fun stuff going on to get ready for the cruise?

So far we've downloaded a couple of countdown apps (Because one just isn't enough)
Been slowly working on a few FE ideas. I'm traditionally not a crafty person; but since booking I've slowly overcome my fear of the unknown . My Mom is so proud

I bought 2014 Disney calenders for family members who have also booked and will be sending them along with Christmas gifts this year.

We have almost wore out the DCL DVD.
We are avid port cam stalkers lol and hope to make a stop at Fishlips just to say we were there..

We've started to look at FE ideas and researched some excursions. We've never done the Eastern before so the excursions are all new to us.

And of course we have our Friday Countdown that we like to do.

Other than that we are trying to get the house in order for the holidays. We moved to a new place at the end of June - then 2 days later we had visitors and then 2 days after that one of the visitors got ill and was hospitalized for 10 days - so we spent lots of time going back and forth to the hospital. Once we got over that, DW started with issues in her arm, then next thing we know she's having cervial surgery. She was out of commision for 2 months. She was just coming around and being more mobile just on time for our Oct 6 cruise, thank goodness!

But now - it's time to get to all the unpacking and hanging pictures and such.

Once the New Year gets here, we'll be much more devoted to cruise palnning.
