Disney Early Morning Magic - Details & Prices

People will stop coming.

You're right about that much. Prices are already bordering on to high. As long as Disney keeps trying to reach further and further into the pockets of Joe Average, more and more Joe Averages are going to spend their vacation dollars elsewhere. Like I said before, ROI. When the value of the entertainment no longer meets up to the expense of experiencing it, the dollars will go somewhere else. Return on Investment works both ways.

The fact remains that change happens .. and Disney's popularity is at an all-time high, so they are offering extras for those who have (and want) to spend the money.

We can agree that attendance is very high. Perhaps all time. That means revenue should be similarly high. I am fairly sure I recall reading that profit was way, way up (at WDW, not including Shanghai). Typically what you would expect is that a company would introduce additional CAPACITY to handle that crowd. What we were told about the price increases previously was that it was their way of mitigating the crowds because they couldn't add capacity. Now it turns out that they can in fact add capacity, they just want to plop a big fat surcharge on that capacity over and above the profits they already make. You are also right,"If they get too greedy and prices truly ARE too high. People will stop coming". This is what you are seeing manifested on the forums. Will it translate into a downturn of attendance? I don't know, but their recent last minute opening of the blackout dates for Florida resident tickets would seem to indicate that onsite hotel reservations were below expectations and they needed a quick fix to fill them.

Time will tell, and Disney might not even reap the full negative impact for years to come.

Interesting to me is the fact that with mine train opening the Pooh ride has diminished in popularity. My mom walked on Pooh at 9pm as Wishes was going on. Remember when this was a massive wait.

As a DVC member, how do any of the things you mention affect you? You are not forced to buy DAD or EMM, you won't pay resort fees (I think? You have your own dues, right?).

No one is certain if the resort fee will be included as part of our annual maintenance fee or not - I don't have
Disney's crystal ball. There are things that they have listed in the resort fee survey that are not part of our contract. I already pay over 2000 a year for my DVC dues - I don't want to be nickeled and dimed any more than any other guest. Right now I just look at my maintenance fees as prepaying for my room. By adding on "pay for" events you are limiting my ability to use my resort guest benefits.

I still have to buy a ticket to go into the parks - just like every other guest not willing to shell out additional money because Disney wants to charge for something else. Just like every other guest there adding crowds that before might not have been there will probably increase wait time and diminish my ability to use my paid for admission ticket.

My favorite time of day in the parks is EMH nighttime. Disney is once again curtailing a resort guest benefit by selling tickets to this event and probably eliminating what would have occurred twice in a week by doing so - so yes that impacts my benefit for paying a premium for a vacation. They keep taking away - EMH used to be 3 hours now its down to 2. EMH was originally a paid for event, only at MK, available only to resort guests willing to pay but they strictly limited the # of tickets sold. I remember my kids going on the rides available during this like they were going through a revolving door. Truly worth every penny.

I haven't done rope drop since BOG opened for breakfast. I figured what everyone is describing would be the case.

Is it possible that Main Street empties out around 8:15 or 8:30 or are there still too many people coming in? I just figured we would forego the early rides and dawdle a bit until things cleared out for photos before heading to breakfast.

This is what I did, we entered at 745 when they first let everyone in. We hung out in town square for a bit so that our girls first view of the castle would be unobstructed. Then we stopped at some photopass photogs closer to the castle and had only short lines for pics. Then we went to our 825 bog breakfast.

By the time we were done eating close to 9 the line at pp was already listed at 25 minutes but was actually closer to 15.

The pictures and easy walk up main street were the main reason for doing a bog breakfast for me. Now they've raised the price to 24 for breakfast and are letting even more people in, not sure if the value of the breakfast will still be there. I took this pic of my girls on our way in and its one of my favs.

I mostly feel sorry for people with trips right now, you plan and plan and disney throws crap in at the last minute.

Very nice. THIS is why we love early entry. :)

We've mostly been heading west for our Disney fix, and you can't really do this there.

We plan on becoming DVC members once we have kids, but the recent changes have begun to make me wonder what that will look like. If there is nothing keeping Disney from extending the WDW-wide price increases to DVCers, is it still going to be worth it in another decade?

I hope they won't charge you an additional fee if the resort fee is implemented. Disney should recognize that, yes, they make tons from their once-in-lifetime-crowd, but the people who love it year after year are valuable, too.

I always thought Tomorrowland was great at rope drop- no one goes there! We'd hit Astro Orbiter, Buzz mult. times, the "stinky cars" lol, and have no problems whatsoever. By the time we are done crowds have finally picked up and off to our FP rides we go!

We did this with Adventureland after our CP breakfast and it was awesome. Everyone ran to Mine Train and we had a very enjoyable first hour. :)

I haven't read every response, but here's my question. How are they going to handle everyone showing up for breakfast at 9:30am? Seems to me if you pay that much money you are doing it to ride the rides. So people will ride until after 9am when the crowds show up. Then all head for breakfast at the same time. Sounds like a total mess in the making. They won't be able to handle the swarm of hungry event people all wanting to eat before the 10am deadline.

Sorry folks, but welcome to capitalism. Every company does it. A Coca Cola costs exactly what they think you are willing to pay. If you don't like it, don't go. If enough don't go, it will go away. If resort property suffers, they will do something to bring it back up.

Hi, Captain Obvious here.
Just wanted to say I do not care if you are a Disney stockholder.
Be blessed.

70 for an hour/half!!!

Geez. Hey Disney, being money hungry isn't very magical.

I find it insulting to even offer this.

And for the people saying familes go to for breakfast paying the same price to get in the park early. Well then in this case, I would take the 10 dollar no show fee and just get in the park early to look around and still be first in line for the ride I want to hit first.

Resort fees, EMH fees, magic bands probably will cost a fee one day, magical express fee one day.. etc etc.. It won't ever end if the paying customers don't express some sort of outrage to it.
So true! 10 bucks=early entry

So WDW site has a "Hollywood Studios Special Activity" page that goes no where right now. Under its heading is menu/prix fixe etc....
I'm wondering if a similar entry may be in the works for DHS?

I agree, If I were to do this that is what I would do to take full advantage of the three rides. I am assuming disney thinks it will be a rush at that time but some will want food before doing the rides.

How will MK handle rope drop on Early Morning Magic days? How do they handle it for regular EMH mornings? I keep hearing that even though the park doesn't technically open until 9am, the gates are regularly opened 15 min or more early. If I'm paying $69, I wouldn't be too happy to see the rope drop crowd arriving at 7DMT at 8:45. Maybe they'll hold the rope drop group back at the rides until exactly 9 am.

Of course we dont't know yet, but I woudl be willing to bet that when there are these early morning events, RD will not occur 15 minutes early, and the attractions that are open will not be open to anyone who has not purchased a ticket. There will be people in the park having pre park opening breakfast, but they will no longer be able to ride the Mine Train until they are released into the queue.
