I'm so sorry, that really sucks about your ADR! I can't believe their refurbing that restaurant already when it just opened not too long ago... I hope they offer you some type of better ADR for the trouble. If not, seeing as our trips are already so similar, I'd say go with Captain's Grille because that's where we'll be eating that night LoL! But, our reservation isn't until 8:30.
 
Count me in on being aggravated too, that would annoy me to no end. It hasn't been that long since they changed that restaurant over, they shouldn't be refurbing it already :confused3.
 
Bummer about the ADR! I was also thinking Dolphin or Swan but the DDP situation rules that out. I hope they offer you an ADR at a better time than you are finding when you finally talk to the CM! pixiedust:

Here's the official word from MouseForLess on the closing.... "to add new signage, new outdoor seating and a new merchandise area. During the closure, guests can enjoy breakfast a la carte breakfast at Flying Fish Cafe as well as regular dinner offerings at Disney’s BoardWalk. The pizza window will remain open during the refurbishment. When the restaurant reopens, inside the lobby, a special arrival awaits telling the story of Cat Cora and the interior of the restaurant will showcase a functioning olive oil display."

Just what is functioning olive oil? :rolleyes:

Hi Tracy! I've checked the online reservation system again this morning and nothing new to choose from. Still stalking the December cancellation thread, but I'm pretty much waiting to hear back from the CM at this point.

I was out and about with Ariana and Demetri at a Playhouse Disney event at our local mall when Alex called me with a phone message from Disney reservations. For a second, I thought... upgrade! :banana: But then he went on to explain that our reservation for Kouzzina had been cancelled because the restaurant was being refurbished.


Say what?? Forty-nine days before we're leaving and I'm supposed to find something available for six people?? Ack! :scared1:

I'm betting that if you call that CM they will get you a ressie for wherever you want near the time you want. Since ADRs is just glorified call ahead seating. Captain's Grills is going to be closest to the cost of Kouzzina. Have you given any thought to anything at the Swan/Dolphin?

Worst case....you can eat at either Beaches & Cream or ESPN Club because they don't take ressies.

don't really know what to offer...but Heidi's back up plan in the BW area sounds good

For now I have the Crystal Palace early dinner ADR booked if we stay in MK and then head to the Boardwalk later... and I've booked the Captain's Grille later ADR if we decide to keep that instead.

I'm going to continue stalking the online reservation system and the December cancelled thread until the CM calls me back. :surfweb:

I left a second message this morning. I booked a third possibility at the Flying Fish if they'll waive the 2 TS credits... I want to let go of those extra bookings ASAP.

We weren't planning on the No Way Jose but now that you mention it, that sounds wonderful. We were planning on checking out all the Boardwalk resorts to see their Christmas decorations that night so we may have to make a pit stop.

I have no idea how I missed the cancellation of your ADR but all I can say is WOW! :scared1: :scared1: Nothing like getting a wrinkle thrown in at the last minute. I hope they do something to help make things better for you.

Just a quick little update..... Megan, a CM dedicated to the Boardwalk called me today and after a few rounds of telephone tag, we finally got to speak with one another. Apparantly I am not the first to ask if we could have the Flying Fish reservation at one TS each instead of two, and the answer was no. I'm kinda shocked really. They're not offering anything in lieu of the inconvenience. She said she'd help me get a reservation somewhere else but nothing that the system isn't already telling me is available.

I asked if we could get the Captain's Grille ressie closer to the Kouzzina time we had of 6:50pm instead of 7:55pm and at first said no, nothing was showing as available but then said she would call directly there and see what she could do. That was a while ago and I'm still awaiting her call.

Not exactly a pixie dust filled solution.... hopefully she calls me back with good news.
 
I would not be pleased with the way they are handling this... They decide less then 2 months prior to close a restaurant and you are suppose to just take what you can get now??? You have had that reservation for 4 months!! :headache:

If I had any reservations for that many people I would let you take it, but mine are all for 2... :confused3
 
I can't believe the way they're handling this. Usually they're so good about annoucing refurbs at least 6 months in advance so people know. I can't believe they decided with only 2 months notice. It's really not fair for people that plan so far in advance. I hope they can find you an earlier reservation to meet your needs!
 
I would ask to speak to her manager, it's not like its 5 months till the trip. They know how hard it is to get a TS reservation this close to a trip... ridiculous
 
wow..I'm shocked as well! You'd think they would be bending over backwards to attempt to get you something..it's not like your asking for Le Cellier or CRT for crying out loud and I'm telling you, I HAVE NEVER seen Captains Grille even 1/2 full so why they can't pull strings is beyond me. I'm sure your family would rather have an earlier ADR and maybe slower service if the staff is short handed than have a later ADR!!!

Can't wait to see what the response is!

Oh no! So sorry to hear they aren't going to do anything to help you. For a place all about customer service this is lacking to say the least!

Aw you're sweet for saying that :hug: I'm disappointed they waited so long to tell me too. This apparantly happened at the end of September so anyone that has known about this has had 'first crack' at what reservations remained. :headache:

The reservation system is on a planned down right now too until Thursday morning. I can't check if anything new has popped up. ARGH! I called her again this afternoon asking if she'd tried to reach me at work -- our phone lines were acting up -- and she did say she's waiting to hear back from the "Boardwalk managers" to see what they can do.

I realize a lot of people are in a similar situation as I am right now, but honestly, what else did they think was going to happen? It's been four days now since they first called me with the news and I still don't have a resolution. Grrrrrrrrr!
