DISNEY DREAMING! A Nov/Dec 2010 PTR *12/9 ~ Hello Again!

First of all, I love your pin board!! Zach saw it and said, "Hey I just got that same board"! I suggested we put his pins on it & he agreed! :thumbsup2

Your movie nights look like a lot of fun. We usually do a paper chain countdown and take one down each day. It's so fun when you get to take down a bunch at once!

Your AK plans look great! Yay for Demitri reaching 40 inches! That was a big deal for Zach... I think it's always a big deal, but especially for the younger siblings who usually have to sit things out.

Can't wait to hear the rest of your park plans. popcorn::

Hi Tracy...

* love the pin board too...I found a smaller one in our basement that wasn't being used (glad I didn't chuck it) awhile back and now Nathan has it w/ his pins on a shelf in his room, I'd like to cover the cork w/ a piece of plain fabric or felt and decorate the frame....someday, need to make boards for the girls too...it is a great way to display the pins :thumbsup2

* thanks for the parade route viewing tip...wrote that down, we are looking forward to it too

* the movie nights looks fun and glad to see I;m not the only one w/ tons of old Disney VHS tapes, I bought a ton when I worked for the stores before I got married...slowly replacing w/ DVD...but they are still fun...old school style!

* Day 4 plans looks great...and oooohhhh riding EE at night...that looks fun!

Just when I decide not to do the whole pin trading thing with my kiddos I see this awesomely cute board on your PTR and now I am thinking about it again. I was thinking my kiddos were too young but I know they would love that hanging on their walls...what to do...what to do.. :confused3

great update!!! I would agree with you about the parade spot! When I worked at AK, it was a great spot to view the parade and it's where we worked for parade!!

I love the two movie choices too!

Hi everyone! I've been having dumb internet problems most of this week... so much for quality DIS time while on vacation :headache: .... but I think we're OK now.

I promise to come back and properly reply to you all tomorrow! :goodvibes

Oh hey! My ticker is working again!

This is true I may be able to get away with that! I don't think he would guess, but I put nothing past that boy! :rotfl: No, he knows I can keep a secret... I've surprised him with things before!

I can't wait to hear his reaction when he realizes the surprise!!

Don't know how I missed your updates :confused3

The two movie nights sound like fun. I love getting songs stuck in my head :rolleyes1:rotfl:

Your AK plans sound great to me. I'll be looking forward to your santa goofy pictures, how fun.

The song that sticks with me after watching Lion King is always Tumon and Pumba's "The Lion Sleeps Tonite". :rotfl: Love that part!!

Love, love, love the movie night pics! It sounds like you guys are having a great time with it! :cool1:

Your AK days sounds wonderful! The Christmas Tree at AK is Bea-U-Ti-ful!!! Your going to love it!

I don't think you'll have any problems at Tusker House for breakfast! There is a HUGW variety of stuff! They have regular breakfast foods, pancakes, eggs, bacon etc. They also have a lot of fruit, a lot of bagels and cereal etc! It really just a whole lot of food! It's really yummy too!

BTW, are you guys doing the Candlelight Processional Package?! The packages go on sale tomorrow morning!!!

And my tickers are still all wonky! Boo!

Isn't it incredible that five trips in we're still doing new things? Tusker sounds delicious, yummmmm :)

We aren't doing the CP. My kids just wouldn't be able to sit still for it, but I'm looking forward to over hearing it. :thumbsup2 ;)

My ticker is back! I really didn't want it to start over.

I love the way you displayed your pins. I think we are going to start pin trading this year. I think DS4 will like it.

Tusker House is an awesome breakfast buffet and the character interaction is fantastic. We went last year and are going again this year as well. Love the Jamba Juice-so yummy!

We love pin trading.... the search for cast members with pins, the anticipation of scanning what they have and the excitement of trading for something really cool!

Yay, more love for Tusker. Very excited for it! :yay:

I think your AK plans look great!! :thumbsup2

I just mentioned to Marc last night that I really want to watch Aladdin but that is one of the few Disney movies I don't own.

Love your corkboard. :thumbsup2

Aladdin would be a great addition to your Disney library

Thanks for the idea for the corkboard!

Hi! I'm back! I've had nothing but computer problems since the middle of July. First another virus and then there is something wrong with the cable lines on my street and the cable company can't seem to fix it. So sometimes I can get online and sometimes not:mad:

I'm all caught up now. I saw the picture of Dimitri in his Woody pjs . That is what I bought River to wear at the Halloween party at Disney. I wanted him to be comfortable enough to be able to run around and play and go on rides and that looked like a costume too:laughing:

I promise to stay caught up now unless this stupid computer goes out again!

Ugh! Sorry for the computer woes but welcome back! I've had issues with my internet this week too and I've been mostly lurking on a few of my subscriptions. Things seem to be back to normal so now I'm trying to catch up. :surfweb:

Those jammies are perfect for a Halloween party! He has Buzz Lightyear ones too (I call him Buzz-butt when he's wearing them -- sooo cute!) Good call! :thumbsup2

/
I tried to put Aladdin on my Netflix queue before we left and they don't have it! Can you believe that? :scared1:

That's the approach I take. Since we have so many days this time, I am going to pick must dos for each day. When they are done, then move to the, ooh that looks neats.

Good plan, good plan. Don't forget to watch out for the oh that smells delicious ones too.

Oh boy! Demetri will finally be able to ride EE! And in the dark, perhaps! :woohoo: He must be so thrilled... it's a major rite of passage to be "big enough to ride!"

Love your nice-and-easy touring plan... especially for Animal Kingdom. That park just begs you to slow down and look around.

Lovin' the countdown chain/movie night pix! :lovestruc The kids are so into it!

And your cork board-decorating project is fabulous. All my pins are out of sight in a binder... except for Nurse Minnie that I wear on my uniform (see below). Its must be fun to have them on display to enjoy year-round!

Kathy

Demetri is very excited to ride EE. One of his favorite parts of our 2008 trip were all the 'big boy rides' he could go on. :goodvibes

The corkboard is a bit empty now but it will soon enough start to fill up with our fall schedules. :thumbsup2

Great job on the pin board! Think it'll ever be completely full? ;)

I like that little song from Aladdin too. Sometimes those reprises are better than the regular song...there's one from The Little Mermaid too that I really like.

Your AK plans sound great! I love that park so much. Awesome Demetri will be able to ride!

I hope it fills up! :rotfl: The Little Mermain reprise... is that when whe's on the rock singing to an unknowing Eric? I love that part too. :lovestruc

It looks like it'll be throughout the day and he'll be in his Santa gear at the meet n greet area!

Yup! We are going to have the GTG on the evening of our AK day! If Doug loves it, I'll be sure to have him pump Demetri up! If he hated, we won't talk about it. :goodvibes

I am not sure what we'll do about Kali either!

Santa Goofy will be a hoot! Good plan with EE.

Hey that's great you have a pin board now too! :thumbsup2 The segments once a week we can take down from the chain really work out for us. I love how it gets smaller all at once. :rotfl:

Demetri was sooo close to being 40 inches last year, we were tempted to run out and buy him thick soled shoes just to give him that extra boost - he was so ready to ride them!

Julie

We're slowing converting to DVD too but the majority of what we have is definately still VHS. They're just safer for the kids to touch.

Well, if you decide to go ahead with it, you can always just try splitting one starter kit and seeing if they like it. Then you'll have pins for a board and can try again next trip..... :thumbsup2

Good to know!! Love that insider information.... :rotfl: :thumbsup2

Wow! Wouldn't you know when I have a weekend with nothing planned my dumb computer goes down all day Saturday! Oh well at least I can get on today.
:laughing:We got River the Buzz Lightyear pjs too!

49 pages in one day and I am all caught up :rotfl:, so far, so good. I am loving your trip report. I would love to be able to go around Christmas one of these years. I have always wanted to see the Osborne Lights. In 2008 we were there in January but it was about a week after they took down all the holiday decorations. I read your other trip report a few weeks ago, and was enthralled by your report. The thing that really made me want to read it at first was Ariana, my nephew Dawson is autistic and we used to have a fear of taking him to Disney without his mom. Unfortunately, we have asked him a few times and he has no interest in going. I don't think he has any understanding of what it is, but I don't want to push the issue and him not have a good time. Every one of his cousins have not went except for him :sad1: Oh well, maybe when he is a little older.
I can't wait to read more

I hear ya! I had a whole week off and I hardly got any DISing done. :sad2: Aren't those jammies the cutest thing?

Ok, I need to see pictures of the Buzz and Woody Pjs!!!! :thumbsup2

Oooo dang, Demetri's already in bed but I'll get pictures up soon :thumbsup2 You can partially see the Woody ones in our last movie night update.

Well hello there and :welcome: to my little PTR! Thanks for coming aboard! Oh wow, you read my other TR too? :worship:

Good idea not to push the trip on your nephew. Have you tried showing him trip planning DVDs? How sweet of you to want to take him! :goodvibes

We are so very excited to go at Christmas time! :santa::yay:

Yikes, where have I been the last three days? Ah yes, I'm back at work. :headache: I missed my own under three months boogie!

I need to make up for that........

Gosh its getting closer and closer :teeth: Lets boogie with you :dance3:

Hello everyone! So sorry I haven’t updated in a while. Planning is going ahead on the January trip, I’m back to work and the kids are cramming in last minute summer things before they head back to school on Tuesday. This long weekend, the weather is damp, cool and windy so it’s the perfect time to tell you about our Day 5 plans. Just before I do however, here are a few cleanup items.

The first is our movie night from last Tuesday! It was Demetri’s turn to choose what was going to be our viewing pleasure and though I was a little surprised his first choice wasn’t Cars, I knew it was going to either be that one or……

bolt.jpg

Bolt!

We absolutely love this movie. Bolt, Penny, Mittens, Rhino…. soooo funny and we laugh throughout. We were a little different this night with our snackies… George had gone out earlier in the day to pick up some groceries and he came back with a few surprises….

2010_0901Misc0003.jpg

….for Alex.

2010_0901Misc0002.jpg

…for Ariana.

2010_0901Misc0004.jpg

…for Demetri.

Smaller little containers giving each kid their own flavor. Yum! Of course, Alex had to share with me! I’d remembered we had sprinkles ….

2010_0901Misc0006.jpg

….and there you have it. Our treats for the night!

When the movie was over, it was time to take another section of links and a Mickey head off!!

2010_0901Misc0007.jpg

2010_0901Misc0009.jpg

We haven’t been able to bring ourselves to toss the link sections and for now they’re taped on our fridge door. :rotfl:

The next thing I wanted to show was a picture of Buzz-butt. For Demetri’s birthday last February, he’d gotten an awesome pair of Woody pj’s and he was wearing them for our second movie night.

Tinker_Tam wanted to see the Buzz ones. The other night it was time for jammies and he’d chosen them so I grabbed the camera. Here you go!!

2010_0901Misc0010.jpg

Aren’t they cute??

Alrightie now. This next day is completely up in the air. Once again, here is how our days are lined up so far:

Saturday, November 27th – Arrival Day
Sunday, November 28th – Park Day 1 - MK and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party :santa:
Monday, November 29th – Park Day 2 – DHS
Tuesday, November 30th – Park Day 3 – DHS
Wednesday, December 1st – Park Day 4 – AK

I’m not totally and completely happy with this day. I think it’ll be one of those days that we decide what to do once when it comes.

DAY 5
RESORT / DOWNTOWN DISNEY
Tuesday, December 2nd
Park Hours: n/a

I’ve really, really liked on our last two trips planning in a resort day. We got the chance to sleep in, explore our resort, go swimming, do laundry and just take it easy. This trip, I’m not completely sold on it for whatever reason. Maybe I’ll change my mind, but I just don’t know what the weather is going to be like early December. If we don’t go swimming, that’s a big chunk of time not doing anything and I really don’t want to just hang out in the rooms and watch TV. As awesome as Stacy is – a whole day? On the other hand, George would be perfectly content catching up on some TV and just chilling for the day. I, however, would go nuts.

“But”, you ask, “you’ve said this is a resort and Downtown Disney day. Why not just skip the resort time and go shopping?”

OK, show of hands how many people actually asked that question? :lmao:

Well, turns out Kathryn doesn’t like shopping. Hates shopping, deplores shopping. I found that out by accident when back to school shopping came up. She was down here for a visit and though Alex had mentioned before she wasn’t big on it, I didn’t realize to the extent that she disliked it until recently. I’m still keeping all of these plans a secret so neither have no idea I’d planned this DTD day, though Alex did say once that Disney is just different and she probably wouldn’t mind it.

So I don’t know. She wouldn’t say anything, but I wouldn’t want her bored out of her mind either. Maybe we can split up. She does like old school video games so perhaps her and Alex can go to Disney Quest while the rest of us wander DTD. Demetri would be upset at that though, he’d want to go to Disney Quest too. But with my annual pass (did I mention I was getting an annual pass to cover the January trip?? :woohoo:) I get a bit of a discount buying the Disney Quest tickets. A more economical option would be for them to go mini golfing with the 50% AP discount. I think they’d have fun with that actually at a fraction of the cost. How long does a round go for? :confused3

Ah yes, the annual pass gives me other discounts too. So whilst they are mini golfing, the rest of us will be shopping at perhaps one or two of these places:

October-1st-and-2nd-254.jpg

October-1st-and-2nd-252.jpg

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop
Why have I never been here before?!?

08n201608.jpg

Arribas Brothers
This is the “walk extremely carefully” shop. :rotfl:

SHL_BASIN_240.jpg

Basin
Bath bombs!

SH_WOD_998.jpg

World of Disney
The never ending store. :yay:

I’d like to try Goofy’s Candy Shop again too. Last time it was just too crowded and we left empty handed.

2009_0820pics0135.jpg

So all day long we don’t have any plans…. until dinner time. I’m really looking forward to our ADR this night…. ;)

2009_0822pics0037.jpg

Wolfgang Puck Café! This was the chance place we happened into on our last trip. We did a walk in very late in the day after we were supposed to have been at MK but were rained out. It was absolutely fantastically yummy and one of our best meals of the entire trip.

We have a 6pm ADR here so we’d still have plenty of time after dinner to continue shopping if we wish, or just call it an early night and head back to the resort.

I feel much better about this day with the mini golf thrown in there for Alex, Kathryn and Demetri. I think that’ll be a nice change of pace for them and something new for the boys.

So, what do you think?

Thanks for the PJ picture! Those are too cute. I picked up some shorter sleeved PJs in the toy story characters for Gavin but now I am wondering if I shouldn't get a pair or 2 of the long sleeved. Hmmmm.... Are those the ones from the Disney store?

Your day sounds awesome. I keep saying we are taking a resort day, but so far I don't have it scheduled! :rotfl:
