Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Well, we just got back from our first trip to Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel with it's location and elegance. We weren't too thrilled with our location/view in the hotel, but oh well. I did come home with a small touch of strep and Evan came home with a cold/sinus issues, so that wasn't a fun part to deal with. We went to MVMCP on Sunday night the 13th and it was pretty neat. We thought MNSSHP had a few more bells and whistles, but the Christmas Party was nice. We did get to watch regular Wishes and Holiday Wishes from the top of Bay Lake 2 separate times, which was very, very cool! Anyways, just wanted to update everyone with what is going on and I am looking forward more and more to our cruise!! :)

Hi everyone. The holidays are keeping us busy and off the computer.

LOL - ain't that the truth? It's been crazy busy at our house...to think, when we were a kid we used to think that the weeks leading up to Christmas were sooooooooo long.

It's suppose to start snowing at 9pm tonight and not stop until Sunday, leaving up to 8" here at the house and 12" in the mountains!

WHEW - drive safe and have a great time. :goodvibes

If someone has in mind what they want, you can post over on the Creative DISigns board and someone might make it for you. Sorry I can't do it myself!

That's a really good idea...the DISigns folks are so stinkin' creative.

Awwwww, so glad that you had a great first trip "home." I'll be calling MS bright and early on January 18th to book our next BLT trip. :woohoo:

I hope that everyone has a great weekend. We are getting together with some friends for a cocktail party tonight, and I am doing a GNO tomorrow night (which should be great fun). Of course, I also am going to have to brave the malls this weekend which I'm *not* looking forward to. ;)

Here is a very rough idea for a cruise logo, but I wanted to get feedback. I did this in just a couple minutes using Paint, but it would make it much better if people like it. Saw several other really cute ideas of other double dip logos, so I will try to make a couple other later.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

DMMom, I think that's really cute!!! Better then I could EVER come up with! So creative!!!!

We are back from our whirlwind weekend at my parents! As you know we left Friday night instead of Saturday morning and it's a good thing we did. Had we waited, we would have never gone. We picked Steve up Friday at 9 and it had just started to change over to snow. Within 30 mins, we were in downtown Charleston and the roads were slush covered. The speed limit is 70, but I never went above 60. We saw 2 accidents with 3 very mashed up cars. Slow and steady..... the further North we got the better the roads got. I drove until almost the WV/OH line, then Steve took over. Of course, once he did, the roads got better and we were able to pick up some speed. The temps hovered right at 31-33 so sometimes it was rainy and sometimes snowy. Very wierd. It took us an hour longer to get home than usual. We got to the hotel at 230am, crashed for a few hours and headed to my parent's for the day. Here at the house, we got 12 inches of the white stuff. Heavy, wet, snowman snow! We got home just fine yesterday afternoon. Then, I received a winter weather advisory text message, so I called the kennel to say I would be up as soon as I could this morning, but her church services were cancelled so she invited us to come up and get the dogs early. I am glad we did! It's snowing again! The boys were suppose to have school today, but that was canceled. SO everyone is home, safe and sound and we don't have to go anywhere if we don't want to!

On Friday my Facebook acct was hacked and there for, disabled by FB management. I have been trying to email them to get my acct back! It's very frustrating. I feel I am out of touch with the world now! That was how I kept in touch with my sisters, mom, mominlaw, aunts, uncles...UGH! I might go through withdraw!!! Although, it could be a blessing in disguise. I have gifts to wrap, wash to do and by the looks of the containers, I might have to make more cookies!

I seem to be in a rambling mood today. I better get off here and get some things done! I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy during this holiday season!!!!

VERY CUTE! I was going to suggest this after Christmas. We had one for our Halloween cruise on the Wonder (Hallowonder). It was very easy to spot fellow DISers at Port and made FE gifting a little more exciting for those of us that have some creativity in our bones.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season.

It has been crazy trying to get ready for the Holidays. We just went on our second cruise for our anniversary, October 18th sailing on the Wonder, right after dry dock. This will be our third cruise, I am ready to go, I just have to wait a while I guess. The kids (ds16,dd11,ds10) had a great time with the FE exchanges of gifts. That is really something fun to participate in. I am looking forward to that again coming for this cruise. We have adjoining staterooms as there are five of us, 8089 & 8589. After our past cruises with verandas, we decided to save the money on the room, since we are never in the room except to sleep. Anyway, have to go. Need to finish some Christmas shopping. I will be in touch following the New Year.

Regardless, I love it. Think it's perfect. I'll be calling on you during cruise magnet time!!

Have a merry Christmas everyone!!!

:santa: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!! :santa:

We let the boys open gifts last night, so all is quiet in the house this morning! I am just sitting her enjoying a cup of Kona Coffee from my new Keurig coffee maker while Steve is setting up Connor's new laptop. My hand is sore from the hours of Rock Band Beatles we played last night. I usually don't get into the guitar hero, but maybe because I know these songs better, I actually enjoyed it! It's raining here today, washing away the foot of snow. Suppose to be near 50 today too. The winds are picking up, and that will have me worried with the row of pines in the backyard. Too much water and really high trees, makes for weak root systems.
The muffins are ready! Have a WONDERFUL, MAGICAL Christmas Day!!!

Merry Christmas everyone! We're packing for Disney tomorrow. I can't wait. We haven't done a week there since last Christmas. The crowds will be ridiculous, but we aren't the type to do every single ride every day. I HOPE to do our favorites and enjoy the decorations and time together as a family.

Well, we just got off of a 3 night cruise right before Christmas. We rebooked while on board for this cruise!!! We did not make it into Castaway Cay because of high winds, so we want to make sure we try our best this time with the double dip!!!

Well, gotta go read 13 pages of cruise thread!!

Daisy

Hi, PrincessDuck! We were on the same cruise as you and were so disappointed for everyone that had such a hard time with the rough seas and not being able to dock at Castaway Cay. That was my 8th DCL cruise (4th this year, thanks to FL Resident rates!) and DH's 5th, so we took the sea day to relax, but I know most would have rather been enjoying the island.

We also rebooked for this cruise, the first one that fits our schedule after the kids are out of school. We booked in one of the new Deluxe Oceanview Family Staterooms (GTY), which was just a bit more than two Cat 11 connecting rooms (which we usually get). I'm not sure about all 5 of us in one cabin - DH, me, DS16, DS13, and DD10, but we'll get to find out next year, when we cruise on the Wonder again in a Cat 4 w/Kids Sail Free over Spring Break. We don't spend too much time in the cabin, so it will probably be fine (I hope!).

We decided on the 5 day rather than the shorter Dream cruises b/c we'd like an extra day to explore the new ship. While there is a Sea Day, obviously everyone will be on board, so it might be a bit crowded, so we'll stay onboard the second CC day and enjoy wandering around a hopefully deserted ship. We can't wait! With our Spring Break cruise next year, I'll just need one more cruise to be platinum for the Dream - Good excuse to cruise again sometime later next year!

Although it's very early to begin an FE list, please include us when it starts getting organized. I'd also like for my kids to know some friends before the trip. Hopefully, we'll get lots of information from those sailing on the Dream earlier in the year. I figured June would be almost 6 months of "working out the bugs" on the ship and we should know lots from previous cruisers.

Happy New Year, everyone!
Rose :)

Hello All. I also have neglected to get online and post. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My daughter (5 months old) enjoyed her first Christmas. I can't believe all the clothes that we are going to have to wear for the next couple months. She will have a new outfit to wear every day!!

I haven't noticed that anyone else on this board is from the midwest so let me give you an little update on what we have going on up here. This week the high will be -5 and the low... -25:sad2: My husbands family and I are snowmobilers and this past weekend the weather was okay. I ended up getting frostbite on my chin (my own fault). But now this weekend when we go out we will be in layers. The baby will stay with Grandpa, if anyone was wondering.;)

Well I hope everyone has a great New Years! Lets all hope 2010 treats us all well.

Good morning everyone! I would love to join your thread if that's okay :goodvibes

Our family just got back from our 2nd Disney cruise. We sailed on the Magic during the week of Christmas. It was a great trip! Some rough seas, though not bad I actually liked it...and it was challenging to get into Castaway Cay, but we made it! This was our first time ever being away from home at Christmas. The ship was decorated beautifully and Christmas day was very special onboard and of course the trip overall was great! Not sure I'd want to be away from home every Christmas, but I'd love to do it again sometime. Anyone who is planning on a Christmas cruise in 2010 and has any questions about cruising Disney at Christmas, I'd be happy to answer them.

By the way, hey Bill! I'm sorry we didn't get to meet at one of the DISmeets last week, our family was only able to make the first one onboard. Did you get a chance to meet any of the other people in our group? Hopefully we will get to meet on this cruise.

Anyhow, I rebooked this cruise onboard. I booked it not knowing our school calendar for sure. When I got home, the calendar was posted and the children's last day is scheduled for June 10th - whew, talk about cutting it close! But all's well that ends well and we are really looking forward to sailing on the new ship.

Our family includes me, DH, and two DD's - one will be 9 at the time we sail and the other will be 20.

I need to go back and read earlier posts in the thread to catch up on everything, but just wanted to stop by to say hello :wave2: and see if we can be added to the roll call...

Wow! I love to see all the new families that are going to be coming! This is going to be a great trip! I only wish it was THIS june and not so far away!

Been a quiet winter break for us. Just hanging out at home. All I have left is the big Christmas tree to take to the attic and the outside decorations. The outside is coming down today since it's going to go up to 45 and be mostly sunny. Tonight, the rain, snow and cold move in. If I don't get it done today, there's no telling when it would get done! This weekend I hope to get our kitchen painted. Steve is not onboard with it....yet. Once I start, he'll help, but he doesn't want to fool with it. BUT in 2 weeks, I am getting ceramic tile put down in the kitchen and I don't want to paint after (which is what Steve wants to do) I can just see me spilling a gallon of paint on my new floor! No thanks! Plus, if we get it done this weekend, I can pick up hours at work the next 2 weeks before I have to take the week off for the floor.

I never did hear back from Facebook, so I just opened a new account and started from scratch. What a royal pain! I think I have found about 80% of my connections. Every once in a while it will dawn on me that I have not heard from someone and then I know I didn't re-establish that connection.

Off to get the day started! Make it a great day!

Hello and welcome to all of our newbies. I'll get the first page updated today. As for us, this weekend we officially un-Christmased the house and things are close to being back to normal. DD is living up every minute of her last week of freedom before school starts again and I'm gearing up to get our 2010 Disney trip booked. YAY! If I don't check in before the new year, I wish everyone a great 2010!! :woohoo:

Welcome to all the new families. It should be a great cruise.

Isn’t the quote from The Ten Commandments?
I’d love to help. I had fun making the magnets for our last cruise. I’m actually making some for a friend that is leaving in a week and a half.
My hand is sore from the hours of Rock Band Beatles we played last night.
I got that for Christmas too. It is fun playing songs that I know.
Merry Christmas everyone! We're packing for Disney tomorrow. I can't wait.
I’m jealous. Have a great time. I hope to take my family at Christmas some time. I haven’t been to Disney at Christmas since I was in high school. I won’t say how long ago that was.
I haven't noticed that anyone else on this board is from the midwest so let me give you an little update on what we have going on up here. This week the high will be -5 and the low... -25:sad2:
It is cold and snowy here too in Iowa. Keep warm.

All I have left is the big Christmas tree to take to the attic and the outside decorations. The outside is coming down today since it's going to go up to 45 and be mostly sunny. Tonight, the rain, snow and cold move in. If I don't get it done today, there's no telling when it would get done!
I got all of the inside decorations down on the 26th. Who knows when we will get the outside down. It is way too cold and too much snow.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and enjoy your New Years celebration.

Crystal, thanks for adding us to the roll call.

Just to give you some added info:

DW: Kimberly (me)
DH: Tom
DD20: Lindsey
DD9 : Morgan

I haven't read all the posts, but I see alot of Carolina folks on this cruise - hooray for the Carolinas! I grew up in Charleston, SC. My family moved to the Charlotte, NC, area about 7 years ago.

I also see that there are some other teachers in this group. Our Christmas cruise also had a lot of teachers in the DISgroup. I'm not a classroom teacher, but I have my own business as a private math tutor. I taught high school math many years ago then worked as a corporate trainer and curriculum developer before having my DD9. Then I decided I wanted to work and be a SAHM so I came up with the idea of going back into teaching by the way of tutoring. I love it!

Yanno, now that all the Christmas Decor is down, it's kind of sad. No more Merry and Bright...just dark and cold. Blah. When is summer going to be here? <sigh> My thought the other day as I was looking out the window....I wish I was looking at sun-kissed palm trees instead of snow-laden pine trees! I need to move further south!

Our family just got back from our 2nd Disney cruise. We sailed on the Magic during the week of Christmas.

I know a family that was also on the Magic during Christmas and from Charlotte - do you happen to know the Potvins?? I know its a stretch, but it is a small world after all!
Welcome aboard to all the new families! At the rate we are going we will have hundreds of pages in this thread by the time we sail. Christmas was wonderful for the Byrd family, and now we are just praying that our time off will creap by - not really happening though. It is also cold here and we are expecting rain for the next day or so - which really stinks - I wish we'd get some snow!!!
