Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

DMMom - we'd love to relieve you of some of your snow, but everything shuts down around here when we get even a good dusting. Small southern towns are just not equipped for snow. But the boys and I love it - school's will close and its a good excuse to do nothing! DH is not so fond of the snow since he works for the Highway Partol and has to go out and take care of all the smarties that think they can go out and sight see! All they usually see is the otherside of a ditch!

Crystal, thanks for adding us to the roll call.

Just to give you some added info:

DW: Kimberly (me)
DH: Tom
DD20: Lindsey
DD9 : Morgan

Thank you Kimberly - - I'll get the first page updated. :goodvibes

Yup - that would totally be where I'd end up (which is why, on the rare occassions it snows in Atlanta, I enjoy from our front yard). :rotfl:

Does anyone have any fun plans for tonight? I wish I could say I did, but I have to work today until 6:30 p.m., so that means I won't get home until 7:30 p.m. Still, we'll be celebrating quietly at home, so it won't be a total loss. Talk to you guys in 2010. :grouphug:

I have not been keeping up with this thread a lot but I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/holiday season. I have been enjoying spending extra time with my family.

I hope everyone has a great New Years! This time tomorrow we can say that our cruise is "next year". :woohoo:

Our family just got back from our 2nd Disney cruise. We sailed on the Magic during the week of Christmas.

I know a family that was also on the Magic during Christmas and from Charlotte - do you happen to know the Potvins?? I know its a stretch, but it is a small world after all!
Welcome aboard to all the new families! At the rate we are going we will have hundreds of pages in this thread by the time we sail. Christmas was wonderful for the Byrd family, and now we are just praying that our time off will creap by - not really happening though. It is also cold here and we are expecting rain for the next day or so - which really stinks - I wish we'd get some snow!!!

Hey! There was a family on our cruise from Charlotte. The mom was in our DISgroup, but I'm not sure of her last name and I didn't get to meet them onboard unfortunately. Her DISboard ID is michellemb. Is that your friend?

Hope everyone has a fun NYE! We are spending it with friends on the street, so no driving! Should be a quiet (and safe) celebration...

I like the earlier post that said that in a few short hours we will be able to say that our cruise is "next year"! Since we just got off the Magic last week, that seems soooo incredible to think of the next one in terms of next year already...:goodvibes

Although it's very early to begin an FE list, please include us when it starts getting organized.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Disney kept the fish!!!

Hello All. I also have neglected to get online and post.

OMG...you need to post more sis. I saw your city and I was like, "Oh my gosh, someone from Stillwater is on here." Thankfully I remembered it was you before I humiliated myself.

Welcome to all the new families. It should be a great cruise.

Isn’t the quote from The Ten Commandments?

I agree, and yep to the question. Nice! Love that movie for some reason.

Yanno, now that all the Christmas Decor is down, it's kind of sad. No more Merry and Bright...just dark and cold. Blah.

Ditto on the Blah...which is why I'm not ready to take the tree down. But I'm sort of over the rest of the stuff. Probably start tomorrow and do one room at a time. My house looks like Santa threw up in it.

Happy new year all. So happy to be saying our cruise is next year!!!! Wahoooo!!! And ack...gotta change my sig. I turned 32 on Sunday. :( I hate having a birthday so close to Christmas. I feel like all the years celebration takes place in one week. :(

ROFL!!! Ana! this is tooo cute! I'll have to remember that for next year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am excited to say we are cruising next year! Can't wait to say we are cruising next month, next week! I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but I really would like for the cruise to hurry up and be here!

For NYE I started to paint the kitchen. I started to paint at 7 and finished the upper half just before midnight. I was actually cleaning the rollers at midnight. Then I was up and painting by 830 yesterday and got the bottom half finished. I got all the essentials loading back into the kitchen, but the decor I haven't done anything with yet. Not sure where I'll put it. It's been in the same spot for 7 years....time to shake things up a bit! LOL So that was our ever to exciting NYE...Steve worked until 9pm and I watched paint dry! whoo hoo! :thumbsup2

I am getting ceramic tile put down in about 2 weeks, so I went with a color to compliment it. Here's hoping it looks right!

It snowed last night, leaving us with about a half inch. It's forecasted to snow every day this week, so I expect school will be canceled one day, but we'll see!

It is so exciting to repaint/refloor. It makes it look new. Have fun rearranging.

For NYE, my DD had a friend sleep over. They made it just until midnight. Kevin, Ethan, and I watched Phineas and Ferb and other Disney channel shows while building a lego town. Not too exciting, but a nice family evening.

itutorfortravel - I doubt that the mom in the family I know had time for the DISBoards and her name is Amy so michellenb wouldn't fit. I volunteer every summer at a camp held locally for children who have cancer and their family. Ellie Potvin was a camper along with her twin sister and parents last summer. They live in the Charlotte area and this trip was planned last mintue. Ellie is no longer in remission and recieving her 4th line of treatment in an effort to slow down the tumor growth in her hip and lungs. That cruise was truly a MAGICAL trip for the whole family. For more on this wonderful little girl and her family go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/elliepotvin. I will warn you that her mohter's journal entries are heartbreaking, but uplifting at the same time.

It's always so heart breaking to see these Caringbridge sites. I lost a friend to breast cancer in 2008 and became familiar with the site thru her family's updates. And more recently, one of my closest friends has a little boy (19 months old) who is dealing with a stage 4 childhood cancer. His mom does an amazing job with the Caringbridge site as well. I hope and pray they get their chance at their Disney cruise when he is in remission. Extra prayers for Logan are always appreciated.

Hi there, I looked at Ellie's Caring Bridge site and she and her family really look familiar. I may have seen them on the cruise. What a heartbreaking story for this little girl and her family. My prayers are most certainly with them.

It is exciting to think that we can now say our cruise is next year! I had to laugh at my almost 8 year old today. Last year we surprised her by telling her near her birthday that we were going on our first Disney cruise (which was last April). Today she asked me if that was her birthday present and I could tell by the way she asked that she was trying to figure out if she would have an equally fabulous gift this year! I had to explain to her that it in fact was not her birthday gift but that we just thought it would be fun to surprise her with the news near her birthday! Whew, glad she brought this up as she'd be one disappointed little girl if she thought every birthday was going to be a Disney cruise - ha ha.

Tomorrow is our first day back to school and it's going to be hard getting up so early. Especially with the incredibly cold temps we've been having in Charlotte this week. Man, it's hard to believe I was in my swimsuit snorkeling less than 2 weeks ago!

Have a great evening everyone.

Happy New Year everyone!

My wife and I gave (well I gave it, my wife was on the phone) my MIL the DCL DVD as one of her Christmas presents and told her all about the cruise (we hadn't told her about it). She was very excited and said she is going to start saving up her spending money now.

Hello Fellow Cruisers!

Happy New Year!

The kids went back to school Monday, on a 2 hour delay, and haven't been back since! We have had snow...about 5" of it....and it's made for some pretty slick roads. the main roads aren't bad at all, it's the secondary roads that are bad. If the buses can't get through some of these country roads, hollows and ridges, they cancel school...which has been the case the last 2 days! It's stopped snowing for now, but will start again Thursday night. I am hoping the boys will go tomorrow, but I am sure they will be off Friday since they are predicting up to 6" more!

The contractors are here starting on the kitchen floor! I am so excited! I can't wait to see it completed!!!! Photos to follow!

I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy! (and warm and dry!) What I wouldn't give to be on a cruise right now!! It's toooo cold!

I haven't posted in forever. How is everybody

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and 2010 is your best year yet.

Our little Ansley is really growing. She's smiling and holding her head up. Last night, we only got up at 2:30 and then she woke up at 6. Not to shabby.

Our house is for sale and we were under contract until Monday! The buyer called and backed out...after we moved in with my parents. We are trying to keep a positive attitude. I'm ready to build my dream home while interest rates are low. We have a showing tomorrow, so maybe this is our buyer.

My wife's grandfather is in hospice (w/ ALS), so keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh yeah, I like the logo w/ the ice cream scoops!

Talk to you all later

Steven

It's stopped snowing for now, but will start again Thursday night.

We too are expecting snow on Thursday...which will completely shut down Atlanta until it all goes away. I definitely expecting a snow day (from work and school) on Friday. :thumbsup2

Steven

Glad to hear little Ansley is doing well, and will definitely say a prayer for your wife's grandfather. Hope also that you get your house sold soon. :goodvibes

Hi all. Hope everyone is having a great year. I have managed to exercise 3 days this week. Not so much a resolution since I never keep those. Just a goal to look my best for our cruise next year. :)

Crystal: Lucky duck. A snow day. Those always seem to happen around here when I have to be at work, so no fun! But hope you guys enjoy it.

It's too cold around here to snow. Which I guess is advantageous. I hate snow. One day I will convince my DH to move south. What I wouldn't give to call North Carolina home!!

So we are going to the Mouse's house in March. DH isn't a Disney fanatic so he is quite content to stay offsite. Any recommendations onsite versus offsite? We are only staying overnight since we are only going to Florida for a wedding in south Florida and taking 2 days out to drive to Orlando and enjoy the Magic Kingdom for a couple of days. We are participating in Disney's Give a Day Get a Day. Wish my DS could participate. He misses the cutoff by 2 months. :( Oh well.

Hi all. We just booked Monday and are in room 7538. We found out about this trip from BananasTwo. My DH has been friends with BananasTwo DH for a very long time.... :0). I'm Stacey, 37, my DH is Scott 37 and our DD Adair will be 2 in three weeks. This will be her second cruise, my 4th cruise and my DHs 6th cruise, all of our first Disney cruise. We can't wait to learn everything everyone has to share in order to make this cruise the best one yet.

Welcome to the new cruisers! So exciting! You'll love DCL! Although, we have never cruised with another line, we love Disney!

Ana, there are advantages to staying onsite and off. The ease of transportation on site, the themeing, the dining, the extra magic hours. For offsite you can usually get a bigger place, so more space...even 2 bedrooms...and a kitchen and washer and dryer. (yes you can get that with a villa at WDW, but you'll pay a lot more then offsite) Personally, we have a timeshare/condo in Orlando, but we don't generally use it! We'd rather be onsite and in the heart of it all. My brotherinlaw almost always rents a house. that means bedrooms for each of the kids, a master suite for them, kitchen, washer and usually a pool. For me, that would be a destination in itself, yanno. There really isn't just time to enjoy all that the house would offer if I am going to the parks. I guess it's all in what you want. A bed and a shower? ...stay at a value. We LOVE Pop Century! Want a place to hang out and relax? ....stay at a condo/home. Personally, I don't want to cook or make beds when I am on vacation, so the hotel is better for me! LOL Good luck in your choice, but no matter which way you choose it will be a good one, 'cuz you are at the House of Mouse!!!

Kids went to school today, but are coming home 2 hours early due to the impending snow storm! I am just about 99% sure they won't go to school tomorrow either! Oh well.....

The kitchen is coming along. they are getting close to finishing the layout of the tile. Then they need to leave to get their kids off the bus. Tomorrow they will come back and grout and we'll be done! (if they can get back here!)

Make it a great day!

Hello Everyone- As I type this I am looking out my window at work watching it snow. The one inch that we were suppose to get ended up being 4 inches. It took me two hours to get to work. :headache: As some of the others on this board in MN we need over a foot of snow for school or daycare to be cancelled.

Anyway my daughter and I will be joining my sister (BananasTwo), her DH, and my neice and nephew in Florida this March. I am trying to get my DH to join but he has a million excuses in the book. One being March is a busy time for his business (how I fight that one, I am not sure.) Maybe a little TLC from me and his daughter for the next two months. :love1:

Well I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be enjoying it in bed reading my new book I got for Christmas.

Nicole

? I tried copy and pasting pics from my shutterfly and this site says I need to have 10 or more posts. Is that true?
