Hi, PrincessDuck! We were on the same cruise as you and were so disappointed for everyone that had such a hard time with the rough seas and not being able to dock at
Castaway Cay. That was my 8th
DCL cruise (4th this year, thanks to FL Resident rates!) and DH's 5th, so we took the sea day to relax, but I know most would have rather been enjoying the island.
We also rebooked for this cruise, the first one that fits our schedule after the kids are out of school. We booked in one of the new Deluxe Oceanview Family Staterooms (GTY), which was just a bit more than two Cat 11 connecting rooms (which we usually get). I'm not sure about all 5 of us in one cabin - DH, me, DS16, DS13, and DD10, but we'll get to find out next year, when we cruise on the Wonder again in a Cat 4 w/Kids Sail Free over Spring Break. We don't spend too much time in the cabin, so it will probably be fine (I hope!).
We decided on the 5 day rather than the shorter Dream cruises b/c we'd like an extra day to explore the new ship. While there is a Sea Day, obviously everyone will be on board, so it might be a bit crowded, so we'll stay onboard the second CC day and enjoy wandering around a hopefully deserted ship. We can't wait! With our Spring Break cruise next year, I'll just need one more cruise to be platinum for the Dream - Good excuse to cruise again sometime later next year!
Although it's very early to begin an FE list, please include us when it starts getting organized. I'd also like for my kids to know some friends before the trip. Hopefully, we'll get lots of information from those sailing on the Dream earlier in the year. I figured June would be almost 6 months of "working out the bugs" on the ship and we should know lots from previous cruisers.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Rose
