Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

its almost here!! cant wait! but hey what r these fe things? ive never been on a cruise so i dont really know any of the lingo.

Cold and rainy here in the Midwest. I am so ready for a cruise!!!! Woosh, I would love to take you up on your offer of going to Pink with you and your mother. Getting a little frantic about getting the FE gifts done, plan to work on the all day Friday. Wow the count down is really on!
Carla:hippie:

BTW, read on a FE board from 09 that FABRIC MARKERS are better than SHARPIES for the pillowcases. Any thoughts? :confused3 Think I'm going to exchange sharpies for fabric markers. So glad the kids didn't open them yet! :yay:

1) Hey Heidi! Every year my kids get t-shirts autographed by their classmates on the last day of school. After doing this several years with both fabric markers and sharpies, I can tell you this: both last forever...I have even washed them accidentally in hot water and they don't fade. The times they used fabric markers there appears to be less "bleeding" of the color compared to the sharpies - like they are made less watery or something. So for that reason I'd consider the fabric markers, but they are more expensive and you'll get more use out of the sharpies in the long run. I don't think you can go wrong either way - they'll turn out great!
Also, I never remembered to follow that rule of putting the item in the dryer after using the fabric markers and it worked just fine.

2) swimminggirl16 - to answer your question, the "fe gifts" that others are referring to is a gift exchange some people do on the dis cruises, and it involves hanging a special pocketed pouch outside your cruise door and then there is an organized gift exchange (fe stands for fish extender). It tends to go over big with people who have young kids.
Welcome, and I hope you find some teens to meet up with on the ship and enjoy your cruise!

3)Question for everyone: I saw someone on the general cruise boards post they already know their dining rotation for their May cruise. Where is our dining rotation listed???? I didn't know we could get that ahead of time, last time I didn't know our rotation til we boarded.

Cindy

I have already gotten my boys' summer wardrobe out. A lot has been outgrown, but there are some awesome consignment sales around here and I even found DS7 a mickey mouse hawiian shirt!

I will be working on finishing up my FE gifts this weekend, hopefully will have them done and packed away ready for the trip.

23 days til we leave for our precruise stay at Pop, 24 days til we board the Dream....and way too much to do! I have had the opportunity to work some overtime (which is a rare thing in my job) which has limited my free time but thanks to the kids and my husband things are getting done at the house. Our kitchen/bathroom remodel has been completed and I love spending time in my new kitchen. Now we have an Ag building going up as we speak. The kids have started track and field, with DD having her 1st indoor meet tomorrow. DS was released by the doctor for activities. I am a tumbling/trampoline judge with 2 meets to do this and next weekend and DD was asked to Prom and now we have to shop for a dress....I am so going to need this cruise/WDW vacation. Whew!! I hope everyone else is gearing up. We did clothes shopping a few weeks back..the kids are taken care of but I need a few things. I wish the weather would get springlike here....you Michigan folks no what I mean. It seems like forever since I have seen the sun!!

Swimminggirl16- keep those posts coming so you can PM my daughter. She does FB but I understand your hestitation of giving your info...If you PM me I will get her on the Dis to respond. She is going to be 15 in a month. She is FB friends with two other girls going on this cruise....one she met on our cruise last year. So welcome to the group!

Mozposse~ we'll be at Pink the first night after 2nd seating for dinner....would be great to meet ya there.

Swimminggirl16~ I just noted you are from Kentucky...DD just loves that state! She wants to move there some day. She has a couple friends she tumbled with from Louisville and we've been down there for a couple of competitions.

54Disneyfun~does your DD FB? Mine does, she is currently FB friends with 2 girls who are on this cruise. One she met through DIS and the other was on the same cruise we were on last year. Have your DD PM mine through DIS and they can exchange info.

Yeah!!! I see our tickers are working again. That makes it much more fun to count down :thumbsup2

I have a shopping list of last minute items to get this weekend and I am having the kids try on all the clothes that we plan on taking. I am bringing mostly warm weather stuff (and praying for sunshine) but will also bring a light jacket and at least one pair of long pants per person, LOL. I hope we don't have to do laundry, but at least we can if we need to (maybe on our B2B day).

I'm hoping to finish up our FE gifts this weekend too (I'm mostly done with the ones for this cruise but I still have the ones from the April 7th cruise to assemble). Right now it looks like I have an entire carry on bag full of just FE gifts (yikes). Oh well, it will give me something to carry extra stuff home in, LOL. The kids already have a wish list of things to buy on board (and who am I kidding...so do I, LOL - I'm praying the Dream Inaguaral Dooneys are still available when we sail)

It is hard to believe that we only have 3 weekends left before we cruise. It will be here before we know it!!! :cool1: :cool1:

im so glad there will be kids my age! and i have a little brother who is 14 so he will be happy to know theres kids his age too. and i would love to get to know your daughter. i am on fb but i would rather keep my name off of here so when we privite message sometime ill give it too you:) i cant wait to meet you guys! where r u from? im from lexington, kentucky.

:scared1: 3 weeks and 3 days to go! Yikes! :scared1:

:laundy: So much to do...so little time...Can't wait, though!!! :beach:

pirate: We really need to get down to business and lock in the location for the DISmeet. I think we all agree that Day 2 - Nassau - is the best day. Some were saying up on deck (???) I need to look at the deck plans...but we could meet out there before or while the ship is docking in Nassau. Weren't we thinking 9AM? The ship docks at 9:30AM. And then those going for the Mango Rum Run...could head into Nassau after...Thoughts...:rolleyes1

pirate: I believe that the FE exchange is set and in place...so check that box off!

pirate: Some of us may be able to meet up at the port (The early birds.) What can we wear or have on that would signify a DISer??? Or should we post pics here...and attempt to spot people??? Ideas... :upsidedow

pirate: I hope everyone is having a great week! It's raining cats and dogs today...at least it's not snow! We play in a baseball tourney this weekend...wish us luck...we might face the team that we just split from...

I made a DIS tag for my purse/carry on bag out of the self laminating luggage tags (like these) that I bought at Target:

http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Bag-Ta...IO3W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1299797673&sr=8-4

I think mine is just the green Mickey head with "I DIS, DO YOU" inside. I wore it on my bag when we were in WDW but I also plan on wearing it on my carry on bag when we get to the port.

Is there a good spot in the terminal that we could meet, one that would be easy for everyone to identify?

I got some items I ordered for the cruise from artscow today. I love getting packages in the mail! :lovestruc

Dh is taking the boys all day Saturday and I will be working on finishing up our FE gifts and getting them packed and ready to go!:wizard:

I also plan to have our DisSigns on my tote bag so if anyone spots me make sure to say hi!:thumbsup2 I will try to make it visible even at the Raddison on Saturday by the pool so if you are there look for us!

Great ideas! So basically the way to spot one of us will be either the bag itself has a DISign on it OR the tag on a bag will have a DIS-something on it...You all have my creative juices flowing again...I had that Mango Rum Run bag made so long ago...I might need to add another one...something with more lime green! :thumbsup2

DontRushMe - When are you all planning on arriving at the Radisson? We hope to get there sometime after lunch...and hopefully be able to check-in. And then we will be hitting the pool! Nachos, drinks, the sun, VACATION! :cool2: We will be sure to say hi!

Jetskigrl - As far as the terminal...yes...we could figure out a semi-location to meet. It's really just a big open warehouse like feel. The check-in counters line one entire side...the other side is lined with chairs and some TV type stations...the middle is entirely open. We could say...meet at the chair section closest to where you enter the ship...that would be to the left when looking at the section. This area may end up being quite crowded because it is where people start to line-up to get on the ship...OR we could say meet at the right section (Closest to the restrooms)...this would be less crowded...but not as close to the entrance. Those of you that know what I am talking about...please chime in! :rolleyes1

Any other items that need to be worked out? Let us know...we are definitely at countdown time! :yay:

Oh, I forgot about my Mango Rum Run bag. We will be doing a grocery stop on our way to the hotel for water and Mixers (for the rum, LOL). I will use my Rum Run bag (with that logo on it) at the port to bring our water and stuff in. Then I will attach my DIS tag to that. That should definitely make me identifiable ;)

Speaking of Mango Rum.... :rotfl2: What should we be using for mixers? I was looking at recipes and it seems like anything sweet (sprite, juices, etc) LOL. Hum, I like regular rum and coke. I wonder how Mango rum and coke tastes?? :cool1: At least I will know where to find the soda on the ship :thumbsup2

I love the idea of a terminal meet up, but when we sailed in 2004, our group met up on deck 7 aft (wonder) in the outside deck / viewing area. It was a public deck but we were the only ones on it. We decided on a time and all showed up , wine in hand. Havent looked if something like this is available on the dream, but I just thought I would mention it.
A little mishap happened to us yesterday. My poor Tyler (13) fell down a flight of stairs at school yesterday and broke his left wrist and right elbow. he is in two casts from wrist to elbow.....Ugh!! This trip will be a bit challenging, but considering, what could have happened, we all feel blessed!! K..soo behind in everything but will commit to being on more this weekend to catch up!

:scared1: Oh no! Glad he is relatively ok though. Will he be able to swim during the cruise?

I will also have my Mango Rum Run bag and possibly a lime green mickey head in line. Not sure we'll be able to meet in the terminal, since the pictures I have seen look chaotic at best, and plus we all may arrive/board at varying times throughout the day. I am all for the 9 am Rum Run meet up (don't forget your Minnie Ears! :earsgirl: )

{{{{{{hugs}}}}} Sending more hugs for Ty!!!!!

I loved the secret deck on the Wonder too but I think I read that there isn't anything like that on the Dream
I'll search the board again but I don't think there have been too many posts about good places to meet (I have been watching for that too).
