Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

So glad to read that you enjoyed Hoop Dee Doo Review. We've been three times and have always had a great time with good food.

All too soon, it was over. It was about 9 then. There was no lingering around, as the staff turns the hall around very quickly for the 9:30 show. Before we left, a fellow Bama fan came by, stopped to speak, and volunteered to take a family picture.

Us Bama fans are just so kind...aren't we? That game was awful though. Can't believe we lost.

Great update.

Great update! We have never done HDDR. Do you think Mark and I would enjoy it just being the two of us? The food looks pretty good (and it has to be better than the food at WCC). A great family shot despite two of you looking the other way.

Hoop de doo looks like fun! I'm so glad you enjoyed it - and that you were able to keep it a secret from the kids! :goodvibes

It can't possibly be the last day already! :guilty:

Excellent update. We have Hoop De Doo on our list of to dos. We are waiting til the girls are a little older.

Thanks, Jill! :)

I would wait a few years, too, until your girls are a little older. Reid is 8 --but was 7 during this trip--and he loved it. He was completely entertained! :thumbsup2

Aww, looks like you guys had a lot of fun! I love that they call up the anniversary couples to dance!

:goodvibes Sweet---and LOTS of fun!

Woo hoo for having a wonderful time at Hoop De Doo! We've been several times and have a great time each time! I can't wait to go back in Dec!

We LOVED it! :thumbsup2 Next time, I will try to schedule it more toward the middle of the week. It's a nice break after doing several late nights at the parks.

Do they do the same show during December, or is there a special holiday version?

Could you see everything pretty well from your seats, or did the performers seem quite a ways away? We are considering Category 2, but due to Joe's low vision we might have to book Category 1. Decisions, decisions! :goodvibes

We could see fine from Cat. 2 seats, and like I mentioned, the cast does come out and mingle throughout the crowd.

However, if I was paying for it OOP, I would probably book Cat. 1, just to be a little closer. In using the DDP, I had to choose Cat. 2 or 3 since I didn't want to wait for the 9:30 show. :thumbsup2

Great update! We have never done the HDDR either so I loved seeing all your pictures! What a fun night!!!

Very fun night! :) You'll have to try it some trip!

We loved it, Lisa! :) The food was good, wasn't it? I really liked the fried chicken!

Great update.

Thanks! :)

The game was terrible! After watching it, though, I have to say that we deserved to lose---We played terribly---can't do that and win, when SC played as well as they did. :headache: Oh, well---We had a 19 game winning streak--great times---and we will continue to have great times. Bama's my team, no matter what. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Kathy! :)

I think you and Mark would love it! :thumbsup2 Y'all seem like you both like to laugh and have fun, so I think y'all would have a ball. You'll have to try it!

We did love it, Courtney! AND we did manage to keep it a secret! :woohoo:

Last day......I know.....How sad is that?

Day 7---Friday, May 28, 2010

Well, our last day arrived, and we celebrated (???) by sleeping late. How’d that happen with the early bedtime we had the night before?!?! :confused3 No one woke up until around 9 that morning! In typical fashion for our family, the children of our household could not get themselves to move very quickly, and it was almost 11 o’clock before we were all ready to leave the room.

I had left this day open with no scheduled park---just wanted to let the kids decide where they wanted to go. During our getting ready that morning, it was decided that everyone wanted to ride Expedition Everest again, so Animal Kingdom was the call. This was a complete surprise to me, because AK is really my family’s least favorite of all the parks (YIKES-I’m almost scared to admit that with all the AK fans there seem to be reading my TR!) But, anyway, we caught a bus to AK and arrived to AK around 11:30 that morning.

As we got off the bus, I remarked on how I really liked the plants they had potted around the bus stops. My sweet horticulturist-wannabe-husband snapped a shot of them. ;)

Pretty, aren’t they? But, I might add, I still don’t have any planted around here yet!

But, of course, the flowers were not the real reason we had come to AK that afternoon. We had something else we wanted to see---

We made our way as quickly as we could (not such an easy task near lunch time in this park) toward Expedition Everest. With the time that it already was, we had planned to use the single rider line, but when we got there, the stand-by posted wait time was only 25 minutes. :woohoo: We decided to ride together and got in the line. I looked at my watch, and it was 11:50.

As we made our way through the line, we spotted this little thing, which became the idea of a way to “make fun of mom.”

As soon as we saw this little field journal, Kevin told the kids that it was the same thing as my TR notebook that I had kept details in during our week. They all had a big laugh, and started calling my notebook –“the field journal.” So, thus the picture!

The line moved fairly quickly, and soon it was time to load up and start. The kids and Kevin rode together, and I rode as the odd man out. I was actually paired up with a dad and his two sons from Mississippi. They had never ridden EE before and they had a lot to say before we pulled out. I had a few chuckles at that comments, and the fact that I had not heard an accent like that in over a week!

I'm in the front with the daddy. Look how he's holding on to that lap bar! :lmao: Poor fellow!

We exited at 12:15, so not too bad on the wait time!:thumbsup2

Afterwards, everyone was hungry, so we tried to make a decision on some lunch. Since we were in Asia, I suggested looking at the Yak and Yeti counter service menu. Everyone liked the looks of that, except for Reid. So Kevin and the girls stayed there to order our lunch to go, and I took Reid to Pizzafari to order him some lunch. Right as I got to a table with his pizza, Kevin and the girls arrived with our lunches. We all sat and enjoyed our lunches. I didn’t get any pictures, but wow----a great use of counter service credits. If I remember, each meal was almost $9, and that was without a drink or dessert. If I wasn’t on the DDP, two adults could definitely share one of these meals. They were huge!!

We finished up around 1:30 and headed out. BUT, uh-oh! Something was reminding me of the AK day during our March trip!

UP NEXT---I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN……. AND IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT!!

Great update, Michelle. I can't believe your family chose AK for your last day. I think Hubby needs to get to work on those flowers or he'll need to take you back to DW so you can see the pretty flowers there.

I can't wait to hear what happened next.

Great updates. I haven't done the Hoop Dee Doo since I was a kid... ahem, some MANY years ago. :rolleyes1 So glad you had a nice time.

Love the field journal. :rotfl2:

What is happening again in the same place??!!

Shocking, isn't it? I was hopeful that we'd finish up in a different park watching one of my favorite shows...............:rolleyes1

Well, Since there isn't any sign of the flowers, we probably need to get back to DW so we can check them out again!

HDDR was great! We would do it again in a heartbeat! :)

Oh, if you read my March TR, something happened during our AK day, while we were heading into ITTBAB---and wouldn't you know it, the same thing happens to us again-and in the same line!!

LOL at "field notebook!" Makes sense, you were making observations to be compiled into an informative report ;) Your kids are insightful! :lmao:

What's wrong with a field journal? Every good DISer needs one! ;)

I'm searching and searching my memory banks for what happened to you at AK in March but I'm coming up blank! I thought about going back and skimming your old report but I'll refrain and be patient!

The HDDR does sound like a lot of fun. I'd love to try it!

LOL at the field journal comments.

Hi Michelle! Sorry for being MIA. Your review of HDDR is great. It looks so fun! We haven't done it yet but we will make it one of these days. I will have to put that on the agenda for our Oct. 2011 trip. Hope your week is going well. :goodvibes
