I did read that -

I got hardly anything done! I wrapped all my in-law gifts - which is a good bit - but my side is just waiting to go!!

There are 7 grandkids in my family - soon to be 8 and we SPOIL them rotten!! I am the only one who lives here - so my mom and I do all the shopping and wrapping - when my sisters show up - Christmas is ready and waiting for them - pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

Just got home from the ER with Brantley-Kate. She is still vomiting and having diarrhea. Gave her an IV and Phenergan. Also changed the antibiotic for her sinus infection and did breathing treatments. Poor thing has lost 4 pounds this week. Gotta go, she's sick again.

That's no fun right here before Christmas!! I hope she and you are on the mend today!!

I have another grandma story for you all!!!

Yesterday we stopped to visit her with my parents on a way to a Christmas Party - Julia had on her Christmas dress and cape and her hair was done up in a cute little matching bow - I THOUGHT she looked gorgeous

as my grandma is hugging Julia goodbye she says:

You have such gorgeous hair - its a shame your mother doesn't do it right?!?!

My parents were just cracking up!! I think I might send Julia to my grandma to do her hair for Chirstmas!!

The paper comes in plastic bags from her and has her contact info on direct buying - her prices are the same - I have tried to find the paper outside of ebay without any luck

Hi all - just got back from Matt's school. Today the kids went carolling through the halls. It was fun! However, Matt came home with me and is now in bed. We have another ear infection! Will the fun never end???

Hi, everyone. No, unfortunately I am really, really sick and Brantley-Kate has been vomiting for 24 hours... I can barely catch my breath from coughing. I'm on antibiotics and a nebulizer, but it's not helping. Hopefully, we'll make it to the Christmas Party at school tomorrow.

Oh, and we had a huge ice storm in Atlanta last pm. Roads are ok, but we lost tons of limbs off trees. It will likely refreeze tonight. Fun- NOT!

Denise! Was that ice storm on Thursday? I heard about it on the news at Disney and had a note to ask you about it! Hopefully it's passed, and you all are also feeling a little better!

OK, Marti, I'm gonna go out on a limb without researching it. I'll be embarrassed if I'm wrong, but if so, somebody please correct me.

Effect is usually the noun. For example, "This medicine may cause side effects." (More on why I said "usually" to follow.)

Affect is usually the verb. For example, "The moon affects the ocean tide."

As usual in the English language, there are exceptions to both of these rules. One is when you use the phrase "to effect change." Effect is the verb. The other exception is in psychology, where a person's mood/personality is described as their affect. Affect is the noun this time (but it's pronounced a little different then usual: "AF-fect" instead of "uh-fect").

Please give me the gold star, English experts. I would hate to get a rap on the knuckles for this one!

Right on! Another way we were taught, if I remember correctly is that E comes after A in the alphabet. The word Effect is something that happens AFTER something else, as in cause and effect.

Not to discourage all you that are hoping your kids outgrow croup soon but....the last time I had croup(that was diagnosed) I was 17....I now do my best to make sure my colds stay just that way but I know that I have had croup at least once since then and I will be 35 next year.

Pixie dust to all who are sick....please don't pass it this way

I still get it, too. At least once a year I get something that progresses to bronchitis... and once, instead I got croup. The barky cough that left me COMPLETELY unable to breathe without treatments. I was 18, and it was the scariest thing!

I was also a yearbook advisor for five years, and parents were able to buy congratulatory ads for their seniors. Oh, I nearly went insane typing out some of those messages!

School was cancelled today as we had no power. The kids were sobbing because they missed Santa and the Christmas Party (BK is feeling better). So, we went to the mall, saw Santa, got cookies, and rode the carousel. A fun morning! Except now I have a $50 platter of Subway sandwiches sitting in my refrigerator... won't be cooking for a while!

I just wanted to say goodbye to everyone on this thread. We will be heading to Baltimore in a few hours to spend the night before our flight leaves tomorrow AM at 7:10. Thanks to all of you for your friendship. You have made planning for this trip so enjoyable.

An extra special thank you to Kate, Denise and MidNite for their designs. I just know my t-shirts are going to add a lot of pixie dust to this trip. You guys are great. Also, thanks to Deb for sharing her tiedye techniques.

Julia and I made foam photo ornaments today with her and Nick's pictures in them -

she kept kissing Nick's picture and would say - My little brother is so cute -

one time she said to me - I love my little Cutesie - that is her nickname for him - my little cutesie

I finally called DH cause it was so cute and she got on the phone and said

Daddy - my little cutesie is my treasure!!

How sweet is that?

I won't be on tonight - we are going to the dojo. Matt is testing tonight for his green belt in karate. He is so excited we can hardly pin him down. Plus we are picking up his little girl friend Olivia and eating at Friendly's first (Matt's choice, not mine!) So I'll see you all tomorrow.

Phew! Recitals are all over, finally. Now I have to pack!

I missed telling Tammi goodbye, but we are planning to meet up at MVMCP on the 20th so I will tell her then

I will likely not be back on here before we leave tomorrow morning. Many thanks to MidNite, Lady Lucca, Kate and Denise for their awesome designs, and everyone else for laughter. I will miss "talking" to you all over the next 10 days or so. See you on the 27th!

Matt now holds white, yellow and orange in jui jitsu as well as white, yellow, orange and now green in ishinru karate. Not bad for 7 years old.
