That's how I feel about all of Kevin's loans too! :teeth: I was fortunate enough to have two sets of parents help me with college and the school I taught in helped pay for my masters, so I'm loan free. :goodvibes

Are you home Jennifer?

Amy :)

yes, I'm home. Exhausted, but home. It's ok, though, because today I'm working in the 2's and 3's at church, so I don't need any energy  :rotfl:

I'm virtually loan free. I have, I think $2000 or something from this last year. After my wedding, I didn't quite think my parents would pay for schooling. Nor did I really want them too

Kyle's balance, however, is another story............................. I think he had almost his entire undergrad, which didn't look terrible. But then there's UC's med school tuition.... and they KNOW that they're a good school, let me tell ya' :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Oh, well. We try not to be too concerned, because we don't plan on getting into residency for like a month and rushing out to buy 2 or 3 luxury cars, a second home, etc like some goofballs do! (NOT that luxury cars or second homes are for goofballs.... someday that'd be great. It's just that some start getting their residency check and are like, "Whoa, I'm loaded" and spend it all before it even comes in. And the loan bills pour in, and they take 50 years to pay off..... you get the picture). We plan on trying to pay them down pretty quickly before any other major purchases, except (hopefully) a house. That should be do-able. But boy, doesn't the real world stink? I miss living in Oxford..... :rotfl: :rolleyes1

Marti........O.K......say I buy 150 points ($15000e).....put down 5% use your 15% off spread my payments over 10 years then my monthly payment would be about $160e....give or take. How long do I get to spend my 150 points?? do they expire?? what happens after I am paid in 10yrs??

As you can tell I have done some homework....ordered the DVD....but still not sure.

Lynn

Hope Marti doesn't mind if I chime in here!

You can use your points as soon as your paper work officially goes through. Your points renew every year. You can either spend them all every year, bank (save them for the next year) all or some of your points every year for additional use in the next year, or you can borrow points from the following year if you need more points in your current year. Basically- you have 3 years of points to play with one way or another. Personally- I'm ALWAYS in the borrowing mode- and I have 200 points! Time to add on I guess!!!
Don't forget that in addition to making your monthly payment, you'll have an additional payment for "dues" which pays for upkeep etc. on the resort. We own at BCV's and pay about $600.00/year for that maintanance fee. You can pay that in 1 lump sum or break it into 12 monthly payments. When you pay of the BIG loan ($15,000) you will get a deed- and only have the maintananace fee to pay until the 40 or 50 year contract has expired.

My DH and I bought into the DVC in 2002 as well. We did it AFTER the kids were all in college. It is by far one of the best decisions we have ever made. We LOVE the DVC!!

Thanks so much! I only "paged back" about 50 pages when I slapped myself onthe forehead and said -- "just change the URL dummy!!!!"

Working at night is NOT my forte.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I saw your new tag and wondered what it meant... I spent a good 20 minutes yesterday "paging back" to the 30 October so I could catch up - all the while saying to DH "there must be a quicker way to do this"!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm only on 9644 by the way... catching up very slowly...

LOL! We were hanging out with some of my Miami friends last night (another merger :goodvibes ) and we were reminiscing about the care-free days of life in Oxford!

Oh, and Kevin went to UC Law School, and they think they're worth a pretty penny too! :rotfl:

Glad you're home safely. Try to rest up for the week ahead. Kevin suggested taking me and Alyssa out for breakfast after church (I'm a heathen :teeth: ), so I better get cleaned up!

Amy :)

Oh my! You sound like my DD! She got married this summer. Her DH went on a mission for our church a year out of high school- for 2 years, came home and had been in school for a year when they got married! Initially he was going to med school, but has since changed his mind and is now majoring in accounting and then going to apply to law school. Alissa has no loans for her education except maybe $2000.00, but they will be financing Kyle's until he graduates! My DD graduates in the spring!!! YEAH!!!!!!!

Sounds like you're going through school with your DH- just how hard is that financially??? Will yuou ever get to see him once he hits residency???

I don't drink any of those and they let me hang out too. Only problem is I can't stay awake at night for the "hen parties" as Rosiejo calls them!

So, as long as you can stand us... I mean stay with us I think you are automatically "accepted." :rotfl:

:rotfl: I'm a sprite drinker which might be why I miss the late nights too! :rotfl: I love the fact the fairy visited us all while I was away :cheer2:

I'm so impressed you're not skimming through though. We are off-topic about 98.9999% of the time now-a-days!!! I'm sure after a while, all the words look like "blah blah blah blah blah!!!" :rotfl:

I didn't know your DH was an attorney! Maybe you can tell me what married life with a DH in law school is like???

Actually, Kevin was already working for the prosecutor's office when we met, so I can't give you any insight. Sorry!

Knowing Kevin's personality though, it wouldn't have been too painful. He is the most laid-back person EVER! My sister is taking the bar in February, and Kevin just keeps telling her it was "no big deal." Right....

Amy :)

I married my DH after he had already graduated and was working as well.

The bar..... no big deal?!?!? HA! He must be brilliant! My DH has that type of personality as well- and I can finally say that after 25 years of marrigae, I am FINALLY becoming a little laid back. And quite honestly- I enjoy it a lot! Of course, it helps that all the kids are grown now and I'm only 46 and can still play! :)

Over on the TPAS board there's an awesome picture of the castle - perfectly centered and NO PEOPLE. It's on a thread called "Anyone Surprised at CRT Availablity?" - post 19.

Wow this is great - would you be able to post it without the text? That would be a great image to make a Christmas card design with :goodvibes

I saw this before & had to laugh..they raised the price & now CRT os 2 TS not 1. I wondered if adr's would drop off with the price increase & I guess they have. We did CRT in Oct before the change & I am sure glad we did since I wouldn't pay that much for breakfast even with Cindy.

We had our first snowfall here this morning in NY. 6:30 am this morning all 3 kiddies came into out room & shouted "it snowed, it snowed!!!"...they were so excited!

Clare -- LadyLucca has a thread on this board with her designs. I know she checks in there regularly and you might get a response more quickly from her that way. I would love that without the text too!

Also, thanks for taking so much time going back and reading the posts. I couldn't remember exactly "why" I got the tag I did! Now I know :rotfl:

BTW - loved your wedding pictures and blog. How lovely. :goodvibes

It's not too bad. UC has a policy (as do most med schools) that you can't work AT ALL, because of rotations, studying, etc so they fix you up with a pretty income when your rebate check comes in. It's really a nice "salary", but unfortunately it all comes in the form of loans (excpet a few grants), that have to be paid back.

As for seeing him, his 4th year of med school (current) has been pretty much exactly what residents do. As "Acting Interns" (4th year) they follow the same schedule as residents, etc so we're pretty used to it. It's really not terrible, except a few rotations. Sometimes we're even at the same hospital so we'll meet for lunch, etc. It's not bad. And in residency, he'll actually get vacation (a COMPLETELY lost word around here)... about 3 weeks a year, so we'll be thrilled for that, too. That and a real paycheck (which is just OURS, and -- save taxes, of course -- not owed to the government), we couldn't be more thrilled for it to get here. :p
