Disney break-ins, burglaries, & thefts?

Well, nothing bad has ever happened on my trips but I have left things there. While staying at the Swan I left my beloved leopard Chuck taylor all-stars (hightops) converse tennis shoes there. They are my favorite and they were mailed back to me in Oklahoma free of charge! The funny thing is, the ended up behind a chair, just where I had left them and three other people had already stayed in the room! :earsboy:

Our first trip with the kids (so that is 10 years ago more or less), 2 hours up the road toward home my son discovers he doesn't have his pillow. Now, it may have looked like an ordinary pillow...it did have a Thomas the Tank Engine pillow case. But my son had an emotional attachment to this pillow!

When we realized it was gone, I remembered leaving it on the corner of the bed as we were leaving the room. Two kids under 4, luggage, hubby in a hurry...it just happens sometimes. So I called back lost & found at the next stop (before we had cell phones, but my son LOVED this pillow so we couldn't wait). They said it hadn't been turned it yet, but probably the mousekeeper had it. I checked again when we got home....checked several times in the next few weeks.....no one ever saw that pillow!

Jackie, your story reminded me of the time my DS left his pillow in our rental home in the Outer Banks. We were just driving down the driveway when DS remembered he left the pillow on the bed. DH was already in a bad mood from packing us up like sardines in the van. He backed up the driveway too fast and HIT THE HOUSE!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The house was still standing, but boy did the van look bad!!! :teeth:

Last weekend when we returned to our room at POR the door was not closed all the way. I was really nervous that we would be missing stuff from the room, but everything was there. The door must not have closed when housekeeping left.

But still Was crappy!
Ya'know, as soon as I read this I said, Fellow New Yorker...I looked at your sig, I was right :rotfl:

When I'm home, I use a regular purse, but on vacation I am transformed into :worship: Fanny Pack Girl :worship: - I have carpal tunnel, so carrying a bag all day is out of the question. But everything I need is at my disposal right in front of me on my waist and as soon as it is unzippered to retrieve something, I quickly rezip it closed. I know there is a level of Coolness most people need, but when I'm on vacation, I Love my Fanny Pack. I've also got my 11 & 12 year old daughters convinced it's the Vacation Way to go

It was determined to be mousekeeping (stole $300 and my son's Gameboy). We were finally reimbursed by Disney but it did put a bit of damper on our first trip. (Note....we HAVE been back and had a GREAT time). In fact, we leave again on Saturday!

you've made me think about where i leave my things in the room, I admit I am one who leaves things lying around, it never dawned on me that things would be stolen. I do admit that we rent out a box at the desk for money and tickets etc, but I have never though of putting my ipod or video camera in there. definatly will this time. luckily my money is in travellers cheques and not much use to anybody else
