Good Morning Angels!
I'm back to my early morning gym workouts before work, so I'll be out of her before 6:00 a.m.
My best friend, Nan. left Sunday morning for the Outer Banks for a week's vacation from her stressful government job. I have to wonder if she's going to stay or pack it up.
I wasn't around at all last night. Had a meeting with our Financial Advisor for over 3 hours that just left my head spinning. I now know more about Variable Annuitites (except how to spell it, LOL)
than I ever wanted to.
Tonight we have an appointment with the photographer for the wedding. Should be more fun than last night!
We're having a gorgeous sunny day today, rain is due here tomorrow.
Have a great Day everyone!

I'm up but I'm not up for long.................I woke up at 5:00 just in time to get sick:( I'm gonna get the twins out the door & go back to bed.
My friend got a fever yesterday of 101. They aren't sure why but she did develop a sore throat so maybe it's another illness on top of the problems she's already having.

Sorry, Gail....I guess I should have checked our "angel" area before making my request for an upday in the RIDDLE section....:o

Morning Everyone!

Lars - hope you are feeling better today!

Gail - thanks for the weather update. going to the local football game Friday night, and I'm praying that I don't have to sit in rain.

Sandi - are you working out for me too?!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all :)

Merry, I started walking several weeks ago and it has become habit. The only thing that stops me right now is rain. I just hope it stays clear at night for a while :)

Sandi, sounds like you are very busy! Good luck with the photographer!!!

Lars, so sorry you are sick! Feel better soon!!!

Lars, sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon.

Gail, thanks for the update. Looks like we should have band day at University of Delaware on Saturday. And hopefully Friday night's football game too.

DD and I went out looking for white tights for her to wear with her drum major uniform. It is the easy sounding things that are hard to find. It took 4 stores before we found white. Picked up the jacket from the dry cleaner. Now just waiting for the UPS guy to bring the skirt and shoes.

I wish I could get motivated to walk or exercise. I lost all my weight by improving my diet but I really should add in the exercise component.

Off to work.

A 'Bernie update'......

As posted just now on today's riddle thread.........

Riddle Meister update......

Just talked to the RM, and he is taking a bit of a break from the place. We all have been there, I am sure, I certainly know I have.

He said work has been a bit busy also. His DD (Katie, I think) has made the JV volley ball team, and that is making him smile too. Sharon is fine, the kids are great, and the RM is OK. He will return when his is rested. He passes on his good wishes to everyone and hopes all are well. As said, Bernie just needs a break from the place.

Dan

Thanks for the update Dan...we appreciate your efforts on our behalf!!!

Dan, thanks for the Bernie update!

Special hello to Stephanie!:smooth:

Must be a Laura thing today - I woke up feeling yucky, sore throat and overall tiredness. After the kids left for school, I took a looooong nap on the couch. I wanted to go to exercise class this morning, but I just didn't feel up to it.

I'll be back later.

Thanks Dan. Don't stay away too long Bernie, we miss you.

Many of you know that Allen is losing his job in the spring (or at the latest next summer). We are terribly nervous about him finding another IT job. There just aren't many around and it looks like we are going to have to take a huge cut in pay. So much of IT is headed overseas. It's cheaper to hire someone in India than pay our folks here at home. Leaving Oklahoma may be part of the plan, but the cost of living is so much lower here, that the pay would have to be enough to almost make up for the cost of living increase.

Allen has considered going back to school, but we don't know what he should study. He has 2 degrees in computer science and is VERY good at what he does. He is probably over-qualified to be doing what he does right now. He can solve problems or learn a new computer language in the blink of an eye. He was offered a management position a couple of years ago and turned it down. Now I'm almost wishing he had accepted it. It might give us a stepping stone to something else.

So, to make a long story short (shorter ;) ), I have been wondering if I need to go back to work. Unfortunately, I am trained as a teacher and they are laying them off right and left. I could sub, but it doesn't appeal to me much. I could go back to teaching preschool, but it doesn't pay very well. I used to have a children's clothing consignment sale, but I quit and started selling clothes through ebay. Lately the sales aren't what they used to be.

Here is my idea. I like to smock. I made Amy tons of dresses when she was littler. I think it's fun. Do you think there would be a market for renting special christening/dedication dresses or rompers? I know there is a market for wedding dress rentals and this is the same sort of thing. It's an outfit that you use once and the fancy ones are expensive. Do you think anyone would be interested? Thanks for any ideas you might have on the subject.

Melissa, I wish I knew. Any new school for him would depend on what is in demand around you if you don't want to relocate.

Can he hire on with a consulting firm? A lot of our IT work is outscourced to consultants.

I'm sure it will work out for you in the end. I certainly can't help with the smocking demands...

Dan, thanks for the update on Bernie. I am a worrier and my mind can come up with many things. I am glad he and his family are well.

Merry, don't want to ignore your question but I really don't have an opinion right now. Maybe later. Just stopped home for lunch and have to get back on the road.

I just had to show y'all Daddy's little princess

Whoops..looks like I'll have to use the DIS albums...

Each class at her school designs their own Constitution that they will follow for the year.

You can see the whole event atConstitution Day

Thanks Dan for the update. I know that Bernie's priority number one is his family, and his daughters activities are probably number 2. Dis is not even in the top 10! But he'll be back..............

Alan, what a surprise seeing the princesses sans tiaras. Very cute. THey take after their mother, obviously. And Winston is one handsome animal. How long has he been a member of the family?

Merry, it's always a mystery as to what to do in this suck job market. I would recommend that he get with a recruiter now, find one that specialized in IT. They (if they are good) do not charge for their services, and it's amazing what jobs they have available, companies that use recruiting firms often do not advertise any other way. As far as the "Rental Business", I see the point of people not wanting to pay a fortune for a one time thing, but a lot of people use the family dress for all christenings. However, the best way too find out is make a few, and advertise, like on the church bulletin boards. You know, the people that can afford to buy one may want a custom made by Merry one too. Also, see if there are any maternity consignment shops. Anyone using those would be more open to rental of something like that, IMHO. Actually, any maternity store might be willing to display the flyer. And of course, specialty baby boutiques, they may be willing to sell a few of them. Anyone who can afford the designer frunishings for the nursery might be looking for the one of a kind custom gown. Good luck in whatever you decide. And if you relocate here, it's still a cheap housing market!

Yesterday was bad dog day, today is sick Angel day. ALl of you feel better soon.

She's a honey, Alan.

DH has been offered jobs through consulting firms in the past. Unfortunately, they aren't hiring at the moment. He's about to drive me up the wall with his worries about all of this. I know it's not good for him to worry so much, but there is nothing I can do. My hands are tied. I just keep hoping that he'll make the right contact next month in Orlando when he presents his paper.

I don't mean to sound like such a downer. I believe in my heart that something wonderful could come from all of this. All is not lost. :p I keep telling Allen that he has to have faith that something will turn up that is the right fit for him.

I just got some Isabel news: I've got email friends from another board in Newport News and they had to leave last night.
