Merry, I hope everything turns out the best for Allen and your family. The good news is he has time to prepare for what is going to happen. I just hope he is able to find something that matches his qualifications, and there is a smooth transition between this job and the next. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I agree with Marsha about the smocking business - start out small and see if there is any interest and then you will be in a better position to judge how far you can take it.

Alan, thanks for sharing the pictures! What a great looking family. Your girls are precious - love the curly hair! Good luck with renting out your former home.

Big load off of my mind - I was able to purchase two more tickets to The Lion King, so now the whole family can go. Tickets went on sale last Saturday, and I was going to walk over during my lunch break yesterday to buy mine when I found out that every show for the whole six weeks had sold out. I figured that "sold out" doesn't necessarily mean "sold out" if you have connections, so I put the word out to a few people and it worked! They are a little bit more expensive than I wanted to spend, but it is worth it to me for all of us to go.

Carol, I found motivation to excersize when I started walking at night. For me, I love the night and the stars & moon and all that... well that was my motivation, to go look at all them that is. And now clear night or not, I am in a habit of doing it So if you can find a way to do something you love at the same time, it might work for you.

Merry, I have no idea if that would be a good thing to market or not. I guess I just don't have a clue because I don't have kids and well, don't think along those lines. But no matter what, I wish you all the best... it is a scary world out there right now with jobs and I hope something comes both of your ways soon!
I am with Marsha though, Luis had the best luck with someone who worked solely in the IT field... he was able to get a decent temp to hire job that he now loves and has been promoted in a lot. Wish we had the warning you did though because once he found a good recruiter, he had a new job within a few months!!!

We have had Winston with us since the Summer of 97. Rebecca retired her first guide dog, Gabriel, and told the school she would wait as long as necessary to get another Australian Shepard. He's a wonderful dog!

Interesting idea Merry.....I agree with Marsha that people may not want to rent something but there should be many who would want to buy a hand-made dress, christening gown, etc. I certainly empathise with your concerns with the job market right now, especially oursourcing work to India. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all works out well.

Just got back from Newark, DE where DH and I went for a quick late dinner. I saw something I had never seen this far inland. A CVS was completed boarded up, preparing for the hurricane. And, because the University of Delaware which is in Newark, is closed Thursday and Friday for the storm, it was party time in Newark. Oh, to be young and free.

Ahoy!!

Final pre-storm update for our Mid-Atlantic friends. Little if any change from last night. Expect rain and winds in the 40-60 mph range in MD and southern NJ. In central and northern NJ expect rain and winds in the 30-50 mph range. The worst weather will be Thursday night and Friday morning. After that you will enjoy a glorious weekend with hopefully little if any cleanup!!!!

Mr. Weather is anxious to learn how accurate his predictions are.....if he's on the money with that I'm sending him out for lottery tickets.....and no quick picks either!!!

Stay safe everyone in Isabel's path, and keep your angel friends updated.

THanks for the update, DAn. I thought I saw him getting a bit frazled before Riddle Con. He usually takes a summer break, so maybe he needs a fall one this year! Bernie has always put a LOT of work into the riddle, getting just the right ones with just the right curtains etc. Kind of like when he used to do the Friday Posts and had so much detail.

If your looking in, OK, we miss you, but we understand. Rest up so you can come back and play for real some day!

Busy day too....I'm working and donating blood. The RI Blood Center has mobile coaches, fondly referred to as blood-mobiles, and it will be at my office today. Tonight my guys & I are going to the Sox game in Boston!!! We were kindly given 3 tickets and Miss EB doesn't mind staying overnight with Grandma. Tonight is the last regular season game at Fenway...but we're looking forward to playoff games to watch from there this year!
