Disney allowing people in deluxe resorts more headliner attraction with fastpass +

Disney seems ready to limit the combinations of fastpasses you can have, preventing some guests from using fastpass on the park’s headliner attractions. Again while the rules have not been finalized, we are hearing that Disney’s computer systems may enforce different rules depending on whether you are staying off- site or at a value, moderate or deluxe Disney resort. Here is how these rules might shake out at the magic kingdom:
Off-site/day guest: none Disney Value Resort:1
Disney Moderate Resort:2 Disney Deluxe Resort:3
To prevent class warfare, we are hear Disney’s computer system won’t even hint at the distinction among hotel guest. You’ll simply be presented a list of available Fastpass+ opportunities, without futher explanation. Disney may also allocate more Fastpasses to guests staying at higher priced hotels. For example, Grand Floridian guests may get five passes , while guests of other Deluxe resorts get three or four.

If this rumor comes true, you can guarantee there will be a lot of local passholders up in arms ... I will be right there along side them!

I spend ~$1800/year for my family to have AP's, we drive 40 minutes to get to Disney from where we live and we visit no less than 10 x's a year .... we stay offsite ALL the time because Disney's hotel prices are rediculous and I can get far more for my money at an offsite than I can onsite .... so because of that, they are going to tell me I cannot get any Fastpass+ for Headliners?

This better be a rumor! Having only 1 FP as a value customer is OBSCENE. We used to be able to get 6 or 7 in a day....this is NOT an improvement! Even 3 at a deluxe STINKS.

Word was you could perhaps get only 14 days a year with your AP and then once you show that you actually USED the 14 days by entering the park....then you'd be granted more access. So unlimited access but only to a degree.

I would never go back if they did this. I've said before that I don't mind paying extra but I can't stand the thought of being blocked from the fast pass system or potentially getting less fast passes when we stay in a moderate.

That Texas location really intrigues me. I must check it out soon.

I can tell you we are in a moderate over Thanksgiving week and were able to book all 3 as headliners at each park.

I don't see how anyone living in this country (or most of the world) can expect anything less than "you get what you pay for".

The argument can be made that the prices are already inflated, but they are so across the boards. There is a premium to pay just in going to disney, but the more you pay, the more you get.

The lobster costs more than the spaghetti.

What is happening right now is testing. When the system becomes fully functional, there may be some tiered structure for FPP, and there may not. As far as I have heard, Disney has said nothing about what will be in the future. I don't think they even know yet.

This thread is made up of posts supposing what may happen in the future.

they've had fastpass for 15 years now. They could have easily rigged the system in that time to "benefit the rich" but they never did.

I even seem to recall Disney higher ups busting on the likes of universal and six flags becasue they're front of the line programs are not equal for all comers.

Disney isn't as evil as all the theories posted on this forum- lol. Just go back and read all the things people have posted over the YEARS, it will make you laugh.

~Class warfare. LOL. This is somewhat pedestrian, but not all rooms cost the same. A preferred room at Pop Century during the peak Holiday season can cost more than a discounted Contemporary wing room in September or January. Disney has no intention of doing that, but I wouldn't mind if they opted to monetize MagicBands by providing more options and selections to *anyone* who wants to pay more!

I think this sounds like a great idea!

I don't see why they would do this without advertising it, though. If the whole point is to make the deluxe resorts more of a benefit than the value & moderate resorts (or staying offsite), why would they not mention it? It would be like not mentioning that a resort is on the monorail line.

I think this goes back to the idea that they still don't know exactly what they are going to do yet.

I think you hit it on the head...

On a side note...woke up in a empty house at 5:45 this morning...which took me to the bad place

and the bad place was the fast pass selection site.

I'm still completely against scheduling vacations...but that being said i'll tinker with it maybe a day or two and try it because its there.

Well after about a half and hour...the ship is turning hard to port on this thing for me. I do see the appeal...and i'm actually thoroughly impressed that the website is as together as it is at this point. Disney's technology is notoriously inefficient and overpriced for a long feel out period (took them till about 2006 to get a windows based resort system...22 years after mac and 20 after windows)...but the site is pretty good.

A few things will take some getting used too...mainly that you have to take one of "their" times sequences...which is annoying...but then you can go back and modify the times. Pretty good idea...maybe a tad confusing.

The second is i can't figure out how you don't make 3 selections in a particular park...is it possible not to?

hmmm...its worth tinkering with...at the least. And i'm convinced that they might have something here (90% of the game is 50% mental)
