Disney will keep doing this as long as people keep forking out cash.

I understand they are a for profit business and not a charity, but they've done a really good job of sucking every penny they can out of every guest that walks into the parks.

True, and sadly there are people that will charge anything whether they have the money, or not, to say they do the whole 'shebang'. Being able to afford the ridiculous add ons is one thing, but I know those that 'will not' be left out if they have to sell their 'first born' (sort of kidding ) and sacrifice necessities to do it - paying (when they can) long after the trip is history.

I must be missing something here..so for a family of 4 this would be around $650. And at 10:15pm, most young children would be tired and cranky as they are eating their expensive dessert. Sounds like a good time Or is this just for adults

If somehow events like these fund new attractions or if they hold ticket prices at bay, I'm cool with it. I'm also cool with it from an I won't buy it perspective.

If they were wise, they'd use these profits to improve the general WDW experience.

I get what you're saying but I don't think these parties are a band-aid for lack of construction. It's special access. It's special atmosphere. Special interactions that people are paying for. I highly doubt anyone is thinking "oh I wanna pay $100 for dessert." They're paying for things they don't normally see. They're paying to see CRT turned into a dungeon. They're paying to see Lady Tremaine put on a show. They're paying to have special interactions with characters. Quite honestly I've paid $100 for dumber things. This could quite possibly be a phenomenal experience. Disney world isn't going to crumble to dust. I think there is still value in the price of admission. We just don't agree.

I couldn't agree more. I have signed up and it's not for the desserts cause I've been at a dessert party before and I was not impressed with the food. I am going cause I feel it will be a different experience. I've never been to CRT and being older than their normal clientele and not having kids this feels like an ideal opportunity to go inside without feeling slightly out of place. Plus there's much more chance of meeting the characters. Having been to MNSSH previously it can be a free for all which I'm just not up for. $100 helps insure against the loss of my sanity. As far as overpriced add on arguments go, where have you people been? What about the people that pay much more to get trouped through under ground corridors, you don't hear much moaning about that and they've been charging far more and doing it for years. On top of that they don't do anything it's just there to be looked at, no effort whatsoever. Every time Disney does something these days all you hear is moan moan moan. Nobody forces people to attend special events but they are highly popular and yet, moan moan moan. I start to get the impression that most of these complaints are from jealousy rather than a valid viewpoint. Not agreeing with something is slightly different from the view that some have posted that this is a elitist thing. Quite the contrary, it's a hard core fan thing and Disney and many other companies rely on those patrons. The next time something new comes along to the parks in general it will be in part because of the extra contributions made from guests attending events like this so in that sense also it seems silly to criticise something which may benefit you in the future.

I was told by a CM on the phone when I called yesterday that it is definitely geared towards adults and teens. That's why they don't have different pricing for children.

The 'moaning' you're referring to is about as far from jealousy as you can get, and more along the lines of going against Disney's policy of repackaging the old instead of building the new.

You mention that we will see benefits in the future, however I feel (and I believe others do as well) that Disney won't provide the 'benefits' that most of us seek, which is new and impressive attractions that remind us of what put The Mouse at the top of the amusement park world. I mean why go through the effort of funding a new land (or single attraction for that matter) in any of the four parks - which isn't cheap by any standards - when you can provide minor additions like the ones mentioned in this so-called 'premium' package and charge what amounts to a full admission price to see it? AND on top of the sixty or so bucks you've already paid? Hard ticket events are becoming the norm as far as enhancements to the parks are concerned because it provides the easiest and quickest rate of return. As long as this effort pays Disney will have no incentive to bring new and better things in.

I'm going to be amongst those who can't/wouldn't fork out extra money for this dessert party on top of what I've already paid for me and my boys to get in to MNSSHP, which is on top of what we've paid for our parkhopper tickets. While my reasoning is at least partly financial (yes, okay, the credit card is already screaming and there are only so many overtime shifts this single parent can work), my real reason is a shameful:

I haven't the faintest clue who Lady Tremaine is or why the devil I would want to hear her sing. Neither do my boys.

This is the part of your quote that is causing everyone to "moan, moan, moan". I honestly don't believe this thread would get the reaction it's getting if Disney was putting in new and creative attractions in a timely fashion. Disney is looking at short term profits and that is it. There's little room for the long investments because the company wants their money now with minimal risk. If there was constant improvement in attractions along with new exciting attractions, parties like this are just add ons. And to be clear, I don't even think people have a problem with Disney wanting short term profits. It's when you see little or maddeningly slow new development along with that, people start to get ansy.
