DisMom Princesses in training for the Princess 1/2

Taryn, my sister might not be able to make it. I'm still trying to figure out what I am going to do. If just DH and I will go or do we bring the kids? My sister said they are planning a trip to FL in Feb to visit mom and dad, so she might come up if they are down there then. I just want to be able to book my room and make plans. So if you end up solo let me know I might be solo-ish too.

Hi everyone,
Great to read about everyone and it'll be fun to follow your journeys. My daughter is running her 1st half with me and I am very excited to help her train. I am an experienced runner(running NY marathon in NOV) and just so happy to see everyone running and having fun at their own pace.

Suggestion: If you have a running club in your area check it out. I run with the Annapolis Striders and for a $15. membership there are all kinds of training groups. My daughter will probably continue her half training with them in Dec to prepare for Princess.

Good luck everyone and please feel free to ask me questions. Have fun and take your time!!!:cool1:

Ok, I am a total planner and need to have everything planned yesterday, especially when it comes to a Disney trip. Now my sister can't go to FL at all in February since her DH is locked in to a work thing that he cannot get out of under any circumstance. SO, I think our plan for the Princess will be to go down to Mom and Dad's earlier in the week for a few days, then go up to Disney on Friday or Saturday and stay till Tues or Weds, then leave from there. The next bit question is drive or fly. We are go to The World the last week of August and it will be our first time driving and staying off property. (I'm more worried about the off property than the driving). So depending on how that goes will determine if we drive or fly in Feb. All I know is I am getting myself there come hell or high water! :thumbsup2

When does everyone else plan on arriving? We should try to do a meet up some time before the race.

My other question is, is anyone getting a special DisMom shirt made up? I saw the wish board has there own lime green shirt. I was thinking something in pink for us Moms.

Maybe we could get someone from the DiSign boards to make a cute logo that we could use to put on shirts. There are a bunch of T-shirt shops around here. I could look into how much they would charge. I don't know about you ladies, but I much prefer to run in tech shirts. I don't know if we could just give them shirts and they can print on those? I will do some investigating and report back.

That sounds great! I would love a tech shirt. :)

How reasonable (or not) is it to think that a beginner could start this week and actually train effectively for the Princess Half Marathon? Maybe I am just a bit too optimistic, but DH doesn't think it's possible. Maybe not, but there's a part of me that wants to prove him wrong. :thumbsup2

Its VERY possible! The Jeff Galloway program that they will put on the Princess Web site starts I think in Sept. I started C25k last year in July and it ended just as my princess training began. I got my princess medal last year. Was it a record breaker, NO, but I finished strong.

YOU CAN DO IT!

Last year...I dropped DD off at preschool, drove to the airport. Went to race expo on Friday. Went to parks with friends on Sat. Ran race and went to parks on Sunday. Work up monday and flew home in time to pick DD up from preschool. Same general plan for 2012.

Totally doable!!! I just started training on 6/16. DH just started running in March and is doing the W&D 1/2 on 10/1. You can totally do this!!!!!

What a great preschool, you can leave the kids for the whole weekend! :rotfl2:

You can definitely do it. And what better satisfaction is there than proving a husband wrong! Go fot it!

ooooh!! Thank you! You've given me a goal!! :) If nothing more than to prove DH wrong. Well, better get off to bed so I can get up early and start C25K in the morning. Dh just started P90X and he's almost done with his first week. I can't have him looking better than me... ;)

I'm going to add you to the list!

I have been having a really hard time training the past 3-4 weeks. I was on the vacation from H*ll for 2 weeks and have been sick ever since I got home almost 2 weeks ago! I have finally agreed with DH that if I'm still sick I'll go to the Dr's on Monday. As soon as I'm better I'm going to start C25k all over again and hopefully I'll make it past week 3 this time!

Oh no! I am sorry that you have been so sick. I hope that you are feeling better and back on your feet again soon. I agree with your DH that a trip to the doctor is a good idea at this point.

Thank you! I've been putting off the Dr, which I know isn't good, but I know he's going to tell me that I have bronchitis and I just don't want to hear it! ;) I use to get it all the time about 5-6 times a year when I lived in Oregon and have only had it once in the past 2 years since living in Maryland! I go to Oregon to visit and BAM I've got it again! :scared1: At least I know where I'll never live again...

Ha! Thanks! I haven't signed up for anything yet, though, does that matter? I did get to the gym today and do W1D1 of C25k. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, right?? :)

Thank you all for the encouragement. It was nice, too, to say to my husband, "See? I got up and did it." pbbbt. ;)

Hi Ladies! I am not a DisMom but I am planning on doing the Princess 1/2 (with my momma) and you all look like a friendly bunch so here I am!

I haven't started the C25K yet but have it downloaded and ready to go. It's in the plans for this week! I did start it once before about 2 months ago. I am NOT a runner but I do work-out (well I have a 5 month old so I'm not in shape right now!). My mom will be doing this 1/2 with me as well. She likes to do work-out videos and take short runs (1mile) so we are both new to distance running.
I hope we can do this!!
