DisMom Princesses in training for the Princess 1/2

I am hoping that training at a higher altitude will be an advantage once I get to Florida. :)

I live in Charlotte NC which has rolling terrain. I too am hoping that when I get to Florida I'll be at an advantage since its' so flat there. The other day I did a 6-mile run here with an elevation gain of 333 feet!!! I thought I was gonna faint. :scared1:

You ladies are incredible with the hills! Do I have to start paying attention to that too? We have some hills here but I certainly don't know the elevation.

VirataMama4-I hope you have a speedy recovery and get back to going soon!

TMcDwyer-Where are you staying for the Wine n Dine. I am not running but I will be in WDW at that time :)

I also want to give a shout out to my momma who ran a 14min mile today. She was very proud of herself as she started at a 16m mile.

If you use an app like RunKeeper or a Garmin it will tell you your elevation.

For the W&D we are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. I can't wait!!!:woohoo:

I have just gotten interested in running this summer. I will be 53 in August. I have lost 50lbs since last Sept. A friend suggested the Jeff Galloway book Running Getting Started. Then I was browsing on the internet and found out that Jeff Galloway was doing a meet and greet and a one day running school right here in Austin, TX. I met Jeff and told him, I am a total beginner, I am over 50 and I want to run in the Princess Half. He signed my book with "Yes you can!" I am so excited. I am going to start running with a Galloway training group here in Austin on July 23! I am super excited!

Thanks! That is awesome! (Taryn's avatar) My work schedule got a little crazy this week so I didn't get a chance to stop at any of the T-shirt places. That might look really cute on a shirt! What do you all think? And Taryn, would your friend mind if we used it on shirts?

Could you post the big image here so everyone can see it. It's so cute! I love it!

I just got done doing W1D1 AGAIN... :) Since I was on vacation and then sick its been about 4-5 weeks since I was able to run. I was worried that I wouldn't make the full time, but I pushed myself to finish. Now its time to keep it up and finish C25k!

Have a great weekend ladies. :flower3:

You can do it! :) Congrats on starting again. That's the hardest part. I'm off to the gym to do W2D3--but of course I had to check the boards first! :thumbsup2

Those doing C25k...would you mind telling me what your schedule is? Right now I run Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with other various aerobics classes that I enjoy, but I really need to get some cross training in. How do you all do it?

I do C25K on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday also. I have Taekwondo on Monday, Wedensday, and some Fridays too so that is my version of cross training. :rotfl:

Hello All,

Please count me in! :thumbsup2I started running back in May. I did my first 5k on June 11 and I set two goals for myself -1 to run the whole race and 2- to finish in under 35 minutes. I'm proud to say I did both!:cool1: clocking a time of 32.25. The next goal I set for myself was to run our local Freedom run 4miler on July 4th- which I completed in 42.23, four days later I ran a cross country 5k with my 11 year old son and clocked 32.13! My son clocked a time of 31.19 for his first ever 5K. :yay:He and I have joined a local kids and parents running club that meets every Saturday -training kids for a 5K and we can't wait to run our next race together! My longest run training was 5.5 miles in just over an hr and I'm planning for my first 10k on September 11. I've never considered myself to be the princess type princess: though my favorite is Belle but I am totally excited to run this 1/2 marathon as my first and have been reading all I can about it. :surfweb:This race is my birthday present to myself and my husband and son will be comming to cheer me at the finish line! :cheer2:I'm debating between staying at a value or springing for the moderate and plan to officially register before the Aug price increase.

Welcome! It sounds like you are off to a great start in your training.

Sorry I haven't gotten to posting this. I have been sick with strep throat since Thursday. I knew I was sick when I was freezing and shivering and the temp outside was over 100  Antibiotics are a wonderful thing.

So I found a local t-shirt shop that can make tech shirts. They are Hanes cool dry shirts. They said though they can only do one color or the fabric will melt. They had a pink that was about the same color as the lettering in Taryn's way cool avatar. They said they could do that design (Taryn, of course if it is ok with your friend who designed it) but make the crown an outline and the letters whould show through as pink. Or if someone here is design savy we could do something else all together. They need a minimum of 12 shirts at $10.05 a shirt and a $40 set up fee. So if we ordered 12 shirts the cost would be $13.38. The only thing I'm not sure of is if NJ sales tax needs to be added (7%) and I'm not sure what it would cost to mail them. Maybe $1-2.

Let me know who is interested. And if pink is the color of choice. I can double check on what other colors are available. And if anyone has an idea for a design, please share it.
