DisMom Princesses in training for the Princess 1/2

Hi Ladies! I am not a DisMom but I am planning on doing the Princess 1/2 (with my momma) and you all look like a friendly bunch so here I am!

I haven't started the C25K yet but have it downloaded and ready to go. It's in the plans for this week! I did start it once before about 2 months ago. I am NOT a runner but I do work-out (well I have a 5 month old so I'm not in shape right now!). My mom will be doing this 1/2 with me as well. She likes to do work-out videos and take short runs (1mile) so we are both new to distance running.
I hope we can do this!!

DisneyChix - You can totally do it!!! I am not a runner either and I do W4D2 tomorrow. The thought of running 13.1 miles still terrifies me at times, but I figure I will take it one run at a time. When I finish the C25K program I plan to do a Bridge to 10K program and then move on to a Galloway 1/2 trains program. Welcome and I can't wait to follow your progress. :)

Hop on in DisneyChix! I've never been a runner either, but started C25K at the end of May and I'm on week 8 now. It's amazing how in just a few weeks you can build up your endurance. I really started from doing nothing as far as exercise. Now to go out and run 30 minutes or so is no problem at all. Usually it's my legs that give out before my breathing.

Today I booked our room at Saratoga Springs for the half! I am so excited. Now I just have to wait to next Monday to register. I'm holding off till the next billing cycle of the credit card starts.:rolleyes1 I can't wait to sign up. Did any of you order the necklace? I think I will. I'm hoping it's a mini version of the medal. I'm definately getting the pin. No one is trading that one on me! If they want it, they gotta run for it!

Colleen - I am getting the necklace and two pins. I want to have one to wear and one to frame with my bib. :)

That's a great idea. Now I'm gonna have to order 2 pins! :thumbsup2 Somewhere I have to find what I did with my bib from the Father's day 5K I did. Not that it was that exciting but still nice to have.

I still have to get DHs first 10K bib framed...

Thanks for the words of encouragement!! :)

Yesterday I sort of started running again. The whole family went to the local HS track. I started off running 100m/walking 200m. I didn't have a watch with me so I figured this was close to walking 90sec/running 60sec. That lasted about 1/2 mile before DS started chasing another runner! DH had to go after him and I ended up with the jogging stroller. I walk/ran probably another lap but it was more walking than running. Oh well, it's a start!

Can I ask what resorts are the official resorts for the Princess 1/2? My computer at work isn't updated for me to get on the WDW site. I know SSR is but I wanted to try a different DVC resort if possible.

I did C25K - W4D2 this morning. Not my best workout. I decided to do a run that involved a hill. I thought I would hit the hill on my cool down, but instead I hit it right as my last 5 min run started. It pretty much SUCKED! I had to stop twice to walk because my legs were so shaky and then ground was gravely. I have a feeling I will be avoiding that area for awhile. Onward and upward! :)

Thanks!
Great job for even attempting that hill! That's one thing that scares me about training on a treadmill this winter-I won't be ready for the hills.

We live about 2 miles from the beach so it is pretty flat here. So for me what is a hill is probably like a bump on the road for a lot of you guys. I tried it about a week ago and thought I was going to die and my legs would fall off. Going over the bridges is the closest thing we have to hills. I can't imagine running up a real hill.

LOL! I live outside Denver in the foothills of the Rockies. According to RunKeeper the elevation change of today's run was over 200 feet. :scared1:

Holy Cow! I think the change in elevation on most of my runs is maybe 5 feet. Not sure how far above sea level we are here, but it's probably not more than 20 feet, if that. It's really flat here!

I am hoping that training at a higher altitude will be an advantage once I get to Florida. :)

I would think it's gotta be. There will be so much more oxygen! At the very least it will be a lot flatter. Don't know if you can tell, but I like flat!

Me too! I loved running in South Carolina last week. :)

You'll get there! Just keep going at it! You'll probably kick all our butts when it comes time to the half!

I am not worried about kicking anyone's butt...I just want to have an amazing time with a bunch of AMAZING women!!!

I think I'm finally on the mend. I am so anxious to get back to training, but I know waiting till I'm fully well is the best option. I am going to give myself today and hopefully I will be up to at least walking on the treadmill tomorrow for 15-20mins. I'm hoping that I can start C25k, again, on Friday.

TMcDwyer, You'll be able to out do us all after training on all those hills. :worship: :)

Keep up the good work ladies! Just 225 days left! :cheer2:
