DISGUSTING! How dare the police do this...UPDATE #70!!!

Man oh Man! I Totally agree with Dawn and Alex on this one and I'm wondering which one's of us is wrong. :rotfl2:
First, WHY were they going after pot and not "X" or "acid" or "coke?" Those are the really dangerous drugs and they are pretty easy to get in school too. Second, I too wonder why boys were the primary target.
Third, I've NEVER agreed with the definition used for "sale." When a friend asks you to secure some pot for personal use and that's what you do, it should not be labeled "sale" the same as the dealer who has bales in their garage. These boys should be charged with possession and sharing. They were clearly coerced into their "sale" and although it IS a crime, they should not be sent to prison for this "crime." Children this age can successfully move through the drug use phase and come out as model citizens EVEN if they secured some pot for a friend in need-really. :hippie:

PEOPLE: WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHETHER IT WAS ONE GIRL and THAT SHE WAS HOT???????? :confused3 :confused3

THOSE STUDENTS GOT CAUGHT! BUSTED! ARRESTED!

THEY PLAYED WITH FIRE AND THEY GOT BURNT...oh excuse me BUSTED!

DRUGS ARE ILLEGAL! I L L E G A L

While I get that you think the police officer was a woman made a difference in what these boys did, do you really believe they have never gotten drugs for anyone else? She just happened to go to these boys and they all sold her drug, but it as their 1st time doing it?

I'm sure it wasn't their first time. I'll bet there was a reason they were targeted, probably because they were suspected of doing it before. I doubt they were just randomly picked out.

IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME IF IT WAS THEIR 1ST OF 50TH TIME DOING IT. It was still illegal know that seems very black or white but it is how I feel..

It makes me sad to think people can make excuses for them. If they can just do whatever a girl asks for then they will get in so much more trouble in their life!

I have said for years, DD, you do know how to say things well. :thumbsup2

You know, I can't even read this thread anymore, some of these responses are so ridiculous.

It's not rocket science.

Drugs are illegal, Everyone knows that. If you get caught with them, you will be arrested and charged with a crime. If you do not want that to happen, then don't get caught with drugs. And I don't care if it's $10 worth of pot or $10,000 worht of pot.

It's illegal.

so you securing some pot for the rest of us? :) Possession and sharing - that's a new one!! Can alcohol be shared too?

Dawn and Alex - are you under the impression that these boys only did this for the planted cop and for no one else? and since a pretty girl asked them to get her some they turned to a "life leading to crime"? I only ask since repeated responses from you seem to lean that way and I just want to clarify that is where you are coming from.

I don't think that I have enough information to make that judgement. I do know that things aren't always as they appear and I am concerned that the PD seemed to want to create a dog and pony show rather than seriously tackle the issue of drugs in the school. It appears that boys were targeted. It appears that they went no further than arresting youths from the ages of 14 to 17. Now they may be very bright, precosious boys (and one girl) but I don't think that they are "the brains" behind a drug distribution ring and that is where they should have focused their efforts.

Again, I am not saying that they should not be punished, I just don't want to see them thrown in a jail cell as such a young age.

Ditto.

They may NOT get thrown in Jail for this incident...BUT it may be a HUGE
WAKE UP CALL to some if not all of them. This may have been the "turning point" for some of the students. Instead of going down a road to arrests and jail sentences, this incident may very well turn things around for these boys that were involved in this "RING" as some have referred to it.

WHY ARE PEOPLE SCREAMING? AREN'T PEOPLE ALLOWED TO HAVE A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION ON THIS THREAD WITHOUT BEING SCREAMED AT?

Wait ...

Boston area.

Screaming in posts.

This reminds me of someone.

Nah. Nevermind. He'd be screaming on the side of the kids. :teeth:

I know I will be flamed but, I have to somewhat agree with the op. I think it is fine to send in the police dog if they want to get the drugs out of the school, but I don't think it is ok for a police officer to trick a kid into bringing the drugs to school. Almost every highschool student knows where to get drugs. The officer asked them to get it and bring it to school. It does not necessarily mean they are doing drugs or selling drugs. They may not have made a profit and just picked it up for her. It was a stupid thing to do. They will be punished for dealing drugs. They will be expelled from school. This is going on thier records. We will have to wait and see what thier punishment is, but it seems to me that they will have a severe punishment for doing this officer a "favor" Although it was a stupid favor in thier eyes it was a favor.

Well, geez. By this logic, if I asked person A to beat up person B, person A shouldn't be punished too "harshly" because person A was doing me a favor??? :confused3

Forgive me for being a bit cynical of Boston area law enforcement. After a quarter century of catering to the Bulger Brothers, (Billy and Whitey) and a pattern of going after "the little guy" and letting the big fish swim away, I can't help thinking that history may be repeating itself. Not that there is a pattern here....

I don't get many of the responses in this thread.

Illegal drugs are illegal for a reason. Think about it - if they were safe enough to sell to the public, I bet you the Government would start it off with heavy tax.

Governments like tax.

One other thing - these kids were pedalling these illegal drugs to other students. That's horrific. Hard drugs can kill you and the remainder can make you turn schizophrenic. By selling these drugs they may have put the health of their friends seriously at risk - we don't even know the extent of the damage yet, as many drugs take years to activate, as so to speak.

I digress. My point is - there is no excuse for this..

Rich::

Rich, I don't disagree with everything you have said about drugs. What I question is did the police get the right bang for the buck? If their goal was to eliminate drugs from school and ultimately the community, it seems that with the arrests of 14 to 17 year olds they came up a day late and a dollar short and worse yet, blew their cover, instead of going after the big fish in the pond.

DAWN: They may offer to these students LENIENCY if they(the boys) were to OFFER up the names of everyone involved in the purchasing and distributing of the drugs. If the students give them all the names of all the offenders (of whom the police may already have a lead on who exactly they are) then maybe these students will only be facing some minor punishments.

AND DAWN: I absolutely agree with you! YUP, and maybe just maybe the Police here in Beantown can get a grip on some of these illegal activities and enough with patterns.....

Cigarettes are illegal for those under 18. Should they have had a sting on this as well or would that have been a waste of money?

There are many illegal things in the world that are illegal and are not gone after by the Law Enforcement.

I guess my point is that it is always not black and white.

Again, I am not saying I am not glad they got the drugs out as I support drug free zones in schools 100%, but to say that there was no entrapment, I don't buy into.

Just my 2 cents.

YMMV.

Wouldn't person A & B be equally punish since both knew the activity was illegal which is a term that is being thrown around this thread a good bit?
