DISGUSTING! How dare the police do this...UPDATE #70!!!

Forgive me for being a bit cynical of Boston area law enforcement. After a quarter century of catering to the Bulger Brothers, (Billy and Whitey) and a pattern of going after "the little guy" and letting the big fish swim away, I can't help thinking that history may be repeating itself. Not that there is a pattern here....

I doubt Flemmi would agree with you at this point. Patterns are meant to be broken and I think that one is at least 10 years done, which is slightly less time than Whitey has been on the run from said Boston area LE.

We have an incredible group here on the DIS. No drop of alchohol EVER touched their lips before their 21st birthday. Nobody ever lit a cigarette before turning 18.
Nobody drives 61 in a 60 zone
Everybody went through high school without even knowing anyone who knew anyone that sold pot
because IT'S ILLEGAL!!!!!

Well I must be a real oddball because I did know people that sold pot! I'm not talking about major drug traffickers trying to get innocent kids hooked, I'm talking about people selling little bags of the stuff.
They are now lawyers, doctors, engineers and fairly productive members of society.
In America just because something is... OMG Illegal doesn't mean we can't question the law or the application of that law. Police officers do it every single day when they let someone go for a minor speeding violation etc.
Are they wrong?

Flemmi has outlived his usefulness and is out of the loop. I think it remains to be seen if the pattern is broken.

Well said Alex.

DAWN: They may offer to these students LENIENCY if they(the boys) were to OFFER up the names of everyone involved in the purchasing and distributing of the drugs. If the students give them all the names of all the offenders (of whom the police may already have a lead on who exactly they are) then maybe these students will only be facing some minor punishments.

That might be difficult now that the students have no more anonimity and may be at risk. I hope that they are able to provide them "protection". I don't know how comfortable I would feel about a child of mine fingering a major drug distributor after his picture had been plastered all over the evening news.

and now that everyone can ID your undercover person!

If they wanted to do that it should have been done quietly

But seriously do you think the Falmouth Police really want to punish these kids that are age 14-17. I can almost guess it was the only way they could get to the real culprits, to the real "pushers"! Was to go in to FHS and set up this sting! If the officers (or attorneys hired by the kid's parents) said "we will drop all charges if they will release the names of those responsible" I bet the kids would give up the names.

NOTHING is done quietly in MASS....really nothing...!!

Nope I think the Falmouth Police wanted to put on a huge media show so everybody would know how wonderful they are.

ALEX: I just looked at your siggy and realized you are from Plymouth. This is practically your back yard. So there must be allot more on the News about this in your area than actually Boston.

And there (like you said) and I agreed NOTHING IS QUIET IN MASS....or Falmouth for that matter.

There is no way I would allow my kid to finger a drug kingpin or at least the next in line. You know who is involved in drug running, gangs, the mob. Yeah sell out your supplier. That's a good way to get a bullet in the head.

Were the kids dumb. Of course. Should their be some punishment, of course but come on what 14-17 year old doesn't do something stupid?
I'm with Alex. I'm amazed at the innocence on this board. I didn't really do drugs in HS but you better beleive I knew which kids to ask if I wanted to. My HS boyfriend is now a cop, his dad was a cop and he was the biggest pot head I knew and I'm sure if anyone asked him for something he would let them buy in.

No different I am afraid from most towns who want to justify "another position, their jobs, their salaries, their raises" but its a bit too risky to go fishing for the sharks. They stick to the minnows.

Correct me if we are not allowed to link here, I'm truly not sure.

If ok, read this article that sheds light on the problem of drugs in this very area, which I'm sure is the same nationwide. I find it hard to read this and not agree that any and all measures to fight this growing problem shouldn't be used with no excuses for anyone.

I don't get many of the responses in this thread.

Illegal drugs are illegal for a reason. Think about it - if they were safe enough to sell to the public, I bet you the Government would start it off with heavy tax.

Governments like tax.

They do and that's why it makes no sense that marijuana isn't legal! It truly is baffling. I guess politicians don't have marijuana growers lining their pockets yet?

so you securing some pot for the rest of us? :) Possession and sharing - that's a new one!! Can alcohol be shared too?

As a 52 year old adult-no, I'm not getting anyone pot. As a 16 year old listening to a friend say they needed it to help with an emotional problem, I might get you some and YES I still know where to get it after all these years. Sharing is not a new one, it's an old one. For the record, I'm much cooler with pot use than alcohol use in teens. One is highly addictive and one is not. I realize the legality issues and for that reason, I have given my child the drugs(including alcohol) are evil information on many occassions. I hope he is never tempted but I will stay vigilant and stay educated on the drugs of choice and methods of use. Currently, I don't drink in front of my 10yo son nor do I use illegal drugs at all. If pot were legal, would I use it? On a rare occassion, yep. Would I share? yep. :teeth: :hippie:

Hi Alex!! I know kids who "sold" pot and are now police officers!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, eh?!

I don't think anyone is saying these kids didn't do something wrong, but should they get the same punishment as a drug dealer selling drugs on school property?

It is really nieve to think that a highschool student wouldn't know where to get some weed. As an adult, I can tell you where to get it if asked and I don't smoke it. I wouldn't pick it up for someone now that I am an adult, but as a teenager I would have done it in a heartbeat. What teenager thinks they will be caught with a little bag of pot when they are picking it up and dropping it off? What teenager thinks a little pot is going to hurt somebody?

Maybe this is thier first time maybe not, but I seriously doubt they ever make a profit off it. They felt they were helping a friend out. They were doing her a "favor" in thier eyes, the same as running to the store and picking up a loaf of bread for her. They found $3500 in one house. That could be anyones money in that house. Maybe the kid actually has a job and is saving up for a car. Nobody knows, but a drug dealer would have way more then $3500. Why didn't they find any money anywhere else? Why didn't they find anymore drugs? These kids are not drug dealers. They may smoke pot and if the police know that and want to arrest them for that fine, but don't arrest these kids with a class x felony. That will be on thier record for the rest of thier lives. These kids could have grown up to be very successful adults and they are going to have thier lives ruined over this as the drug dealers are still out selling drugs to everyone else.

If they want these kids to drop names, the kids are better off going to jail then having a bullet put in thier head. You can't just go around ratting out gang bangers and the mob and expect to live a normal life. The kids pictures are posted everywhere.

If they really wanted to put a stop to drug dealing they would have secretly taken these kids in and got the names of the people that actually need to be in jail, but instead they decided to show off how well they can trick a stupid teenager into selling a little weed to an undercover police officer.

Again I didn't say these kids didn't do something wrong. Yes drugs are illegal and if they want to arrest them with some minor drug charge fine, but they should not have tricked these kids into selling the stuff.

Well, geez. By this logic, if I asked person A to beat up person B, person A shouldn't be punished too "harshly" because person A was doing me a favor??? :confused3

All I was saying is they aren't drug dealers. Yes they should be punished for something, but not have thier lives ruined with a class x felony

good job cops. Keep our schools safe. IMHO any kids who supplies her multiple times is not doing it because she is hot - he is dealing. Help them straighten up their lives now before they are adults

Between 9 kids she was only given drugs 31 times in 4 months it averages out to less then one time a month per kid. I don't think they were dealing drugs. I do think they were picking them up for her but that is it
