I found clippies at walmart. They were near the "old lady" curlers. :rotfl: I looked in the hair accessories, the fabric area, the kids area, and finally was about to give up and then remembered that my grandma used to use these clips to hold her pink hair rollers in place. So look in the aisle with the hair accessories, but near the hair curlers. They were like a dollar a pack.

Thank You- I don't think I looked there!!! I gotta check next time I'm in there!!

Here is my youngest daughter's Minnie Dot outfit for Chef Mickeys.

I also found these purple shorts at WM. I decided to make a coordinating shirt. Older DD will have pink once the 6-7 shirts come in. They are for the diaper bag.

th_sopheemousepurple.jpg

I also finished the Fantasmic outfit. I am conflicted about the Mickey. Do you think I should add a red bow. I am going to do red, white and blue jewels and bows that can double for the 4th of July.

th_sopheefantasmic002.jpg

Very cute outfits Aimee! I think a red bow for the Fantasmic outfit!

Here is what I made DD last night.
th_CIMG0542.jpg

I made it while she was sleeping and when I tried it on her this morning she told me she didn't like it and that it just wasn't her. She is the one who picked out the fabric and she said that she had wanted me to make her a dress with it not a jumper (she wasn't being bratty it's just not what she imagined with that fabric). So I guess I will have to buy more fabric. She wanted a dress and a pair of capris, which I had a bought a dress pattern to use with it. So I guess it is my fault. Hopefully she will change her mind when she comes home.

Cute outfit! I hope your DD changes her mind!

Patchwork twirl w/ Disney Princess fabric that I made but I didn't make the Cinderella shirt though.

Lori
Love this! JoJo is a doll!

I've had a very bad morning. It looks like our poor dog, Pierre, is going to have to find another home. The girl I got him from (last week) said that he was great with kids (including her 1 year old niece). Well, he hasn't been real great with our kids. He was growling at Sawyer a lot. But, I just kept Sawyer away in hopes that he would get more comfortable with us. This morning, Pierre was sitting next to me when Sawyer came over and reached to pet him on the back. Pierre bit him right on the face, with no warning growl or anything! It's not a bad bite, but he has a purple mark on his eyelid. I have been doing a lot of crying because I now realize we're not going to be able to keep him. I've already contacted the local SPCA. They said to bring him in on Friday so they can meet him. Then, they will decide if they will look for a foster home for him. So, I don't know how long it will be before they actually take him. They asked me if he was up to date on his shots. I took him to the vet last Monday and got all of his shots, but he needs booster shots in 3 weeks. I also had him scheduled to be neutered on the 20th of this month. Anyway, the SPCA said they won't take him unless I make a "donation" to cover these vet expenses. Don't they generally ask for a donation from the people adopting the pet to cover these expenses?

Anyway, I'm pretty upset today. I feel so guilty about everything. I feel guilty that poor Pierre has to go to yet another home and I feel guilty that I brought a dog into our house that hurt my baby. :sad1: I really thought I did everything right- asking he right questions, etc...

So sorry to hear about Sawyer being bitten by Pierre! This must be soo hard for you! I hope that you are able to find somewhere to take Pierre and he can find a home with no kids.

Everyone's outfits looks so great!!!

We were just there last week. I looked for some familiar outfits ;) but I didn't see any. I did see some cute boutique ones though. :)

Here are some of my girls outfits. My mom helped me big time with these. LOL I even had Dh cutting out pieces. We had such a busy fall that I didn't have time to sew until after Christmas so all of these were made in a little over 2 weeks. Whew!! I had planned to have more outfits but time ran out! Next time I think I need to start 6 months in advance!

I have another outfit not pictured but my dd got the stomach bug during our trip and I didn't get a good pic of her in it before the "bug" hit.

Sorry about the blurs. I guess I am having a paranoid day. LOL

THANK YOU for all the ideas and pictures you all have posted! I feel bad that I didn't save names so that I could give credit, because I pretty much "tried" to copy many of the adorable clothes you all have posted! So to those I have coppied thank you!

Here are their Epcot out fits. A very nice lady from here let me buy some fabric from her. I made these 2 days before we left so I didn't have time to applique so I just made iron-ons for the tops, then sewed a ribbon bow on them. ;)

th_epcotata7.jpg

Here are the dresses I made for Ohanas. I also did the characters iron-on. If you look close you can see the Elvis Blue Hawaii fabric on the skirt.
th_lilonstitchags8.jpg

These skirts were supposed to be combined with toile but I failed miserabley. LOL I think we were able to save them pretty well. I ended up really liking them. You can't see it in the picture but there is a little red and white ribbon bow sewed on the bottom left of the skirt just above the ruffle.
th_minnieskirtaju2.jpg

I LOVE these overalls from afar but up close you can really see how unsteady my embroidery is. Poor Giselle's jaw line is all over the place.
th_overallsahv4.jpg

The entire time we were sewing these my mom complained about how ugly these were yet we couldn't get more than 5 feet without someone asking us about them or me hearing a comment about them. :goodvibes When dh was alone on Everest someone even said, "Aren't you the dad of the girls with the stripped animal dresses"? I even caught a few people taking pictures of them. LOL
th_safariabt8.jpg

Thanks for letting a lurker share with all of you!!! Thank you again for all your insperation!

GREAT outfits! Y'all did a fantastic job on all of them.

Hi Ladies! I wanted to post pics of all the outfits my kids wore on our trip. We just got home on Sunday and had an AWESOME time!!

First up, minnie/mickey overalls. The minnie's I purchased. My ds outgrew the ones I bought for him so I CASE'd these. Can I tell you how long the hand applique takes? And how hard it is? I as NOT good at it at all but I got them done. I was actually hand sewing the last couple of letters the night we arrived!

th_IMG_1888.jpg

Next up Epcot outfits. It was super chilly out that morning!

th_IMG_1922.jpg

Animal Kingdom. What I noticed about these was that the darn Mickey heads looked goofy b/c I think I enlarged them too much. Oh well.

Allie's minni dot twirl and top. Getting WAY too small so I put a white t-shirt underneath to keep her belly from showing. Guess we will have to retire it now.

I actually had a tinkerbell outfit I just couldn't get finished in time. Well, I did finish it but it looked like a sack and had some other issues. So, I need to fix it.

Thanks for looking!

I love all of the outfits. I am not a Tigger fan (I'm not big on anything Winnie the Pooh except the ride) but that outfit is adorable!

LOL...of course project runway is my favorite show...I love to design, but can't draw, sketch, to save my life...LOL
Thanks for the compliment.

not all designers can draw...and your stuff is good enough to stand on it's own merit!! Seriously!!! Your stuff is so great! I bet you could design for a children's line...Carters!!! OshKosh...Gymboree...oh my GOSH, Gymboree would SO sell your stuff!!!:)

You are such a sweetheart! Thank you for searching for a picture for me! Those are the pictures I had found before. I would love to find a bigger picture that I could blow up a little more for the applique pattern.

I was curious what Clarice Chipmunk looked like... this isn't a great picture of her, but it might give you a little something to go on:

Sorry to get so off-topic with the dog conversation. I know we have a "no apologizing" rule, but I know it gets annoying for some to have all the chattyness on here. Anyway, I have some good news. Henry's grandma wants to meet Pierre and if all goes well, she said she'd take him in. I'm so happy about that because we'd still get to see him (but not Sawyer!!) and I know she'd spoil him rotten.

Okay, here are some of the pictures from the Hannah Montanta show last night. The kids all had a total blast! So did Teresa, my mom, and I! It was just great to watch the girls. Lydia was absolutely beside herself the whole time. You would have thought she was actually at the conert! My niece, Casey (our brother's daughter), is a HUGE Hannah Montana fan and she was super-excited, too!

Here's our bathroom photo shoot. That's Casey (10) and Tessa:

Teresa is still feeling pretty sick. She's feeling a lot worse today than yesterday. My poor sister!:sad2:

Here is what I did yesterday. DD2 got invited to her first birthday party. I know, she's young, but she is good friends with this girl that is turning 4. Her friend is going to Disneyworld over Easter, so we thought we would make a custom for her birthday present. I did not have a lot of warning, so this is what I came up with using only stuff I already had at home. (Okay, I sorta cheated on the buttons, I had to cut them off a coat of mine because I have no time to get out and buy buttons before the party :scared1: ). I hope it fits. Ths girl is turning 4 but she is really big for her age. I got some quick measurments, but I'm still worried about the fit. I serged the ruffle instead of hemming but I think I really like it! I may sort of CASE this for DD2 (can you CASE yourself? :confused3), but I'm not sure if I have enough Minnie Dot left. :rolleyes1 sorry to be so chatty :rotfl: I'm just waiting for photobucket to upload my photos. My internet has been a nightmare lately.

Hey! I've been "serging" my ruffles lately too...I REALLY like it! And I have a bone to pick with you! I know your kids names, middle names AND birthdays!!!! grrrrrrr..... no minnie panels for me......:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I'm so happy you may have found Pierre a home and it looks like ya'll had a great time at the HM concert.

I may not be posting tonight, because I have obligated myself to making a HM dress for DD. I bought the HM satin fabric to make a four tiered ruffled shirt with matching purple capris. I have no idea what I have gotten myself into. I did however go and by a rolled hem presser foot to hopefully ease the pain of doing the four ruffles. Wish me luck I may not come back alive.:rotfl:

Hey! There you are! And what do you mean serging? Did you go off and get a serger without telling me????? I'll be emailing you tonight, so keep a lookout! Oh, and you have to actually show up around here to win a contest!

ANGELA CAMELOTCATS Thank you, thank you, thank you for the strips of Minnie fabric! I can't wait to make DD a skirt! She LOVES Minnie! I should be mailing your Buzz Lightyear appliques out tomorrow, depending on when the daily snowstorm hits and other usual emergencies. I was waiting to get the Minnie fabric so I could also reimburse you shipping. I didn't trim around the appliques because I wasn't sure how much "room" you wanted around them. Thanks again!

Great pics today Heather!!! Love all of the outfits ladies!!! Hope you feel better Teresa. Hope it works out with Pierre!

Also,
I hope no one was affected by todays tornados....:scared:

Heyy everyone! I've been lurking this thread for a while now, and i am in awe of everyone's talent. I got a sewing machine last week, and have already become addicted to sewing. I don't have kids (i'm only 17) but i will probably end up making a bunch of stuff for my little cousins.

Here's what i've made so far, though they're not finished.

A dress for me (its a size or two too big, and I still need to finish it lol but i guess I can wear it to the pool)
SSL22335-Copy-1.jpg

And a skirt for my little cousin. I need to hem the bottom (and trim some threads), and make the top which is going to be out of a strawberry shortcake panel, i think. The green top was for picture purposes.

Just getting onto this thread. I know that you crafty ladies can help me. I tried my hand at making Disney vacation shirts for DD (and our friends kids)on our last trip and they didn't come out so bad if I do say so myself. We got quite a few compliments. However, I used fabric and my own drawing skills to make my shirts before. I've decided to try to expand my shirt making for this year's trip. DD is a huge Stars Wars fan (that's right...and 4 year old Star Wars fan...go figure). I have seen pics of the Princess Leia Minnie and would love to make her a shirt...but I definately can't draw that well. I'm thinking there is a way to print out a copy of the picture and transfer it to a shirt but I'm not sure how to do this. What do you use and where do you buy the products? I'm assuming craft/fabric stores carry the necessities? For those who have done this, do you then stitch around the edges of the iron on to make it neater? HELP!!!!

:welcome: to you, too! If you want to iron a picture onto a shirt, you'd need to buy some t-shirt transfer paper. You can buy this at lots of different stores- WalMart, Best Buy, pretty much anywhere. Then, you'd save a copy of the picture you found online and use whatever picture editing software you have to add words, etc...Then, you'd flip the image (or if the program you use has a t-shirt transfer printing option, you wouldn't have to do this) and print it onto the transfer paper. After you iron it onto the shirt, you wouldn't have to stitch around the edges or anything, but it would look pretty cool if you did, or if you added some ric-rac or something! I hope this is what you were asking!!

Well, we went to the Hannah Montana Concert Movie tonight and the kids loved it -- so did I! There was only about 50 people max in the movie with us so we got a great seat and the kids were able to do whatever they wanted!

Before the movie!

After the movie.

I figured all the kids would be more into it but I guess not. I saw one little girl way up at the back dancing once but that was it. Through the first half of the movie we just kind of sang to ourselves and clapped but when she did the change to Miley, Parker started performing. She would sit in her seat and start banging on the armrests like she was playing the drums. After the "moving bug" bit her she couldn't resist it anymore, she had to get down and dance, then Michael joined. When Miley had on the black pettiskirt, Parker yelled "mommy, she has a twirly dress just like me" and just started spinning and spinning! We all had a great time -- definitely worth the $15.00 tickets!
Hi guys! I'm skimming again today, and trying to get caught up. I'm feeling pretty awful. But, I had to comment on these cute pictures!!!!

Parker is soooo adorable dancing around!!! Micahel too!

Heather has probably allready mentioned it, but we went to the movie yesterday and had SOOOOO much fun!!! Lydia was so into it! As soon as Hannah said that she didn't want to look out an see anyone sitting, Lydia jumped out of her seat and started dancing!!! She is now in love with one of the Jonas Brothers, he blew her a kiss yah know!! (Please, someone help me out and tell me which one did that, Lydia wants to know the name of her future husband!) I have some pictures I took that I should upload later, even one of my Mom! Mom paid for it, thanks Mom! Althouh, our tickets were only $10. :thumbsup2

Ok, back to playing catch up here!

And, I have to say thanks to everyone for saying thank you about the bookmarks and photos! You guys all made me feel a little better on my icky day! :thumbsup2

I love you Heather! :lovestruc
