Heyy everyone! I've been lurking this thread for a while now, and i am in awe of everyone's talent. I got a sewing machine last week, and have already become addicted to sewing. I don't have kids (i'm only 17) but i will probably end up making a bunch of stuff for my little cousins.

Here's what i've made so far, though they're not finished.

A dress for me (its a size or two too big, and I still need to finish it lol but i guess I can wear it to the pool)
SSL22335-Copy-1.jpg

And a skirt for my little cousin. I need to hem the bottom (and trim some threads), and make the top which is going to be out of a strawberry shortcake panel, i think. The green top was for picture purposes.

WOW that's really good for a beginner. Keep it up and welcome to the thread.

Sorry I feel like I will never catch up. On the plus side, I finished almost all of my PTA work so I can go back to sewing again! This is what I did today. I sewed six sashes together and cut out the words from sitcky back felt and stuck them on. They are for the Father/Daughter dance Friday. I let Megan try one on if she promised not to fuss if she didn't win. She sighed and said, Anna Gabrielle will win for kindergarten. She is the most beautiful. Awwww!

th_100_2233.jpg

Look at the dumb dog! He is in every shot!

Well, Megan would win for sure if Heather and I were voting! She is such a cutie!

Hmm, I wonder when they are having the Father Daughter Dance here, it's usually this month...

These look great! I am very impressed since you only started last week.

Yeah, yeah, me again! Photobucket is working at the moment, so here's the skirt I finished this morning. This is CarlaC's scaloppini skirt. I think it turned out really cute! Tessa is fresh from the shower.
It's not as short as the 2nd picture makes it look. It rode up when she raised her arms.

This one's just 'cuz I thought it was cool (she jumped, she's not falling)!

I'm not sure what kind of shirt to put with it yet. But, I'm thinking of something with a Chip applique.

Ok, ok, I said I was just going to skim, so I lied! I had to comment on this one!!!
Heather I loooooooooove it!!!! That was the perfect use of the precious Chip and Dale fabric!!! And, your secret is out!!!

TESSA CAN FLY!!!!!

I love the little bows you put between the scallops!!! You are so creative! :thumbsup2

Here is the Mulan dress I have been working on.

th_Mulan.jpg

Cindee, this is great!!!! And, I'm so happy to have something to add to the Mulan section of the Photobucket account!!!

Morgan is going to be so pretty in this!!!

Ok, really, I'm just going to skim now......

And, I've seen so many many cute outfits posted!!! You guys are amazing!!!

Everyone's outfits looks so great!!!

We were just there last week. I looked for some familiar outfits ;) but I didn't see any. I did see some cute boutique ones though. :)

safariabt8.jpg

Thanks for letting a lurker share with all of you!!! Thank you again for all your insperation!

Love all of your outfits! Thanks for posting!

Hi Ladies! I wanted to post pics of all the outfits my kids wore on our trip. We just got home on Sunday and had an AWESOME time!!

First up, minnie/mickey overalls. The minnie's I purchased. My ds outgrew the ones I bought for him so I CASE'd these. Can I tell you how long the hand applique takes? And how hard it is? I as NOT good at it at all but I got them done. I was actually hand sewing the last couple of letters the night we arrived!

IMG_1888.jpg

Thanks for looking!

amazing job on all the outfits!

Heather has probably allready mentioned it, but we went to the movie yesterday and had SOOOOO much fun!!! Lydia was so into it! As soon as Hannah said that she didn't want to look out an see anyone sitting, Lydia jumped out of her seat and started dancing!!! She is now in love with one of the Jonas Brothers, he blew her a kiss yah know!! (Please, someone help me out and tell me which one did that, Lydia wants to know the name of her future husband!)

I asked Jayden about the kiss-blowing and she quite confidently replied "oh yes, that was Joe!" I said "was it the guy in the purple shirt?" and she said "I think so". I'm pretty sure Joe was the one in the purple shirt (:rolleyes1 this is for Misty and Wendy :rolleyes1 ) but not positive he is the one who blew the kiss  I think Kevin is the one who looks like he should be in a Jane Austen novel with an ascot and all, and Nick is the baby one. :confused3They will be here in concert on Saturday, too bad I'm not going :rotfl:

Sorry to get so off-topic with the dog conversation. I know we have a "no apologizing" rule, but I know it gets annoying for some to have all the chattyness on here. Anyway, I have some good news. Henry's grandma wants to meet Pierre and if all goes well, she said she'd take him in. I'm so happy about that because we'd still get to see him (but not Sawyer!!) and I know she'd spoil him rotten.

Here's our bathroom photo shoot. That's Casey (10) and Tessa:

This is the fancy schmancy restaurant we went to afterwards. There was nary a loin cloth to be seen, which is probably a good thing! Teresa made Lydia a cute little Hannah Montana skirt.:
DSC06050Small.jpg

Teresa is still feeling pretty sick. She's feeling a lot worse today than yesterday. My poor sister!:sad2:

I'm glad you may have found a solution to the Pierre dilemna. I know it was weighing heavy on your heart. I hope it works out for all of you.

It looks like you all had a great time at the concert/movie - AND at the fancy schmancy no loin cloth restaurant! :rotfl2:

TERESA - so sorry you're feeling icky. I think that the ick has made it's way all over the country. I know it's really bad to feel so icky. I hope you feel better real soon!

So here's what I've been working on the last few days. Again appliquing isn't my thing, but I'll keep practicing. Next a HM shirt for DD8.

Can I just tell you guys how much I love shirring!?!?!?! I wouldn't have had the nerve to try it if it wasn't for y'all. So thank you!! I made my middle daughter a 2 tier skirt and then she said she wanted a shirt so I made her a peasant top and lengthened the sleeves a little. I shirred the sleeves and across the chest. But now I can't decide if I should put the shirring in the front or on the back. :confused3 I'll include pics of both sides and tell me what you think. Oh, and the classic pooh is that lightweight corduroy.

I'm not sure who the girl chipmunk is. Do you know if she has a name? I'd like to find a picture of her!

Well, since you mentioned it....;) Here's a picture of Tessa, dressed as Tink, "flying" in our backyard when she was almost 3:

I know I'm a day behind, but I'm going to answer your question anyway, just because it's my right to, cause I'm your sister and all, and even if someone else answered allready and posted a link, you aren't going to believe them until your big sister tells you too, right??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
It's Clarice

And, I was hoping you'd post that picture of Tessa! I've always loved it!

Here you go :)

I like the look of complete embroidered face but since I have basically no clue what I am doing I wasn't even going to attempt it. I created a pic of Giselle the size I wanted to make the piecing, printed it and did the piecing. Then in my photo program I took the same picture and erased everything but the face. Made it a mirror image and printed it on transfer paper. It doesn't look as good but it was much easier.

LOL don't laugh at my crocked lines and threads that are still hanging out. :rotfl:

OK, one more question. Is the ENTIRE face an iron on? Or did you do the face and iron it on to the same flesh colored fabric that you used for the rest of the body parts? It looks like it matches perfectly.

Okay, here are some of the pictures from the Hannah Montanta show last night. The kids all had a total blast! So did Teresa, my mom, and I! It was just great to watch the girls. Lydia was absolutely beside herself the whole time. You would have thought she was actually at the conert! My niece, Casey (our brother's daughter), is a HUGE Hannah Montana fan and she was super-excited, too!

Great job -- it's looks GREAT!

:wizard: I've had a very bad morning. It looks like our poor dog, Pierre, is going to have to find another home. The girl I got him from (last week) said that he was great with kids (including her 1 year old niece). Well, he hasn't been real great with our kids. He was growling at Sawyer a lot. But, I just kept Sawyer away in hopes that he would get more comfortable with us. This morning, Pierre was sitting next to me when Sawyer came over and reached to pet him on the back. Pierre bit him right on the face, with no warning growl or anything! It's not a bad bite, but he has a purple mark on his eyelid. I have been doing a lot of crying because I now realize we're not going to be able to keep him. I've already contacted the local SPCA. They said to bring him in on Friday so they can meet him. Then, they will decide if they will look for a foster home for him. So, I don't know how long it will be before they actually take him. They asked me if he was up to date on his shots. I took him to the vet last Monday and got all of his shots, but he needs booster shots in 3 weeks. I also had him scheduled to be neutered on the 20th of this month. Anyway, the SPCA said they won't take him unless I make a "donation" to cover these vet expenses. Don't they generally ask for a donation from the people adopting the pet to cover these expenses?

Anyway, I'm pretty upset today. I feel so guilty about everything. I feel guilty that poor Pierre has to go to yet another home and I feel guilty that I brought a dog into our house that hurt my baby. :sad1: I really thought I did everything right- asking he right questions, etc...[/QUOTE]

Awww, I feel really bad for you - Glad Sawyer is okay - I feel bad for Pierre too, I wonder what in his past made him get this way. Maybe a nice older person will really love him!!! I hope it all works out in the end. Pixie Dust, Wendy

You are way too hard on yourself - think it looks spectacular and that you did a great job!

OK, one more question. Is the ENTIRE face an iron on? Or did you do the face and iron it on to the same flesh colored fabric that you used for the rest of the body parts? It looks like it matches perfectly.

I guess I should have said that I erased everthing except the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth. I DID erase the skin on her face.

I printed it onto transfer paper for WHITE shirts. I cut around everything leaving a small strip down the middle (where the nose would be) to hold them all together. So when it was all cut out it resembled a T in a way, just wider at the bottom where the mouth is. If you look close you can see she has a shiny unibrow where the transfer paper is. I risked the chance that the flesh fabric would also show through the eyes and mouth but it doesn't really show.

Does that make any sense?

Wow, I'm all caught up!!! Thanks guys for all you nice words, I hope I get feeling better too! Yesterday, I thought I was all better, but then I got home and actually went to bed at 10:00!!!! Most of you late nighters know how unusual THAT is! I got up and got Arminda off to school at 7, but then I slept until about 11AM, and had to drag myself out of bed even then! I'm pretty sure I could have slept all day! I'm feeling a little better now, thank goodness!

We took dd to see the Hannah Montana movie last Sat and here are some pics. She had a blast and is having a Hannah Montana birthday party in two weeks
