More cute pictures!!! Teresa and I will have to take some when we go tomorrow!!

That skirt is fantastic!! I LOVE it! Your girls are both gorgeous (even with a mullet ;) )

That is SOOO adorable! What a great idea!!

No fair that you posted a contest before I could get to the boards to see it! Don't you people know you're supposed to PM me and give me the answers before you post a contest?:rotfl2:

Anyway, even though I didn't win, I know all your kid's names- Luke(:lovestruc), Seth, Jayden, and Lily!

I’ll add my :worship: :worship: :worship: . And a big THANK YOU.
As for getting a sub-forum, I like the thread all in one big long list. If we HAVE to get a sub-forum, could we keep the big long list? When it hit 250 pages, it could be “stickied” to the top. So all of our bookmarks, links, pics, etc would always be there. Does that make sense?
Oh, and Heather, I just noticed your siggy. Married to the Disney-hater. Last time I looked at it, I think it said Love of my life.
Yeah, with the sub-forums we'll definitely lose this "family" feel and we'll have to click around to see everything. I like the chit-chat, the sewing questions, the pictures, and everything, all rolled into one.

I'm glad you like my siggy! :thumbsup2 Teresa is the one that's married to the love of her life, I'm just stuck with the Disney-hater! :lmao: I'm KIDDING!!! I better love him since we've been together for almost 18 years!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OMG! This is making me laugh sooo hard! She is sooooo cute, though! what can they say, they are bringing back the mullet! and making it look GOOD!
:rotfl: It's true, though!

Shhhh........ I am working on a Mulan custom for DD. She will wear her silk in "Disney's China" and then change to Mulan. She has no idea I am working on it (she has only asked me for a Mulan for a year :rolleyes1 ) I will be working on it tonight after she goes to bed and will try and post pics tomorrow.
Oohh!!!! I can't wait to see it!

I have been feeling ill and I went to the Dr. on Friday. I have something nasty called Cellulitis. He gave me antibiotics. But this morning things weren't better so I had to go back and he gave me some different antibiotics. Hopefully these will help. THe infection is on my right arm so typing and using the mouse hurts.
OUCH!!! I really feel for you! I hope these antibiotics work and you start feeling better soon.

I also have to share Miss. Katie's huge milestone. She went to "Pre-school" :sad1: We belong to a home school group and meet every Monday. The kids all go to different classes and since Katie will be 3 in a few weeks she was able to go to the pre-school class. She did well after the initial freak out. She cried for less than a minute (I was on the other side of the mirror and could see her) and then she was fine. She was so excited when I picked her up. She said she had fun. However, when I asked if she was going back she said "No, no, no I am not going back!"
How traumatic! Tessa's never went to school of any kind (well, except Sunday school) and I'm not looking forward to kintergarden. She is, but I'm not!!

All I can say is the thread made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!! It went from crapplique to applique!

I think I will have to invest in better thread then - I found the source of my being just "eh" about my appliqué's

oooooooooooooooooooh Total Cuteness!!

Wow... my computer broke and I get back and see over 40 pages! You gals have been chatty!
I have been working on a buzz lightyear jeans set for Nathan (2 yo ds) and I made a bunch of babylegs for Julia (9 week old dd).
I love all the stuff that you ladies and Tom have made recently! Beautiful.
Leslie, that stuff is awesome! I hope you guys have an awesome time!

Jham: how do you taper when you are appliqueing? I haven't figured that out yet.

I know that Teresa quoted someone here, but somehow it was lost when I quoted.

ACTUALLY, that thought HAS been brought up before:
http://disboutiquers.proboards106.com/index.cgi

I've invited anyone to join me. Many have joined, but few have posted. Perhaps when this thread goes under as well, others will see the value of a board that we can have a bit more control of.

I'm there! :-) As nice as it is to stay on the DIS, I have to say it's impossible for me to stay up with this thread. That means I probably miss questions I could answer and/or comments made to me. I love the idea of having a board where each question can have its own thread so it's less likely to be missed. Also, as much as I enjoy the general chatting, it's hard to keep track of things over the course of 10s and even hundreds of pages when the thread moves so fast.

Last night I made my first twirl skirt. I had a lot of issues. I think my main issue is that I don't really know how to sew. :rotfl:

A few problems I had:

-I gathered the skirt before I pinned it together. I didn't read the directions right. This resulted in uneven gathers.

I try to pin the layers in quarters or smaller sections to help keep the gathering area smallish so I'm better able to get even distribution of the fabric.

-My fabric wasn't long enough. I still don't know how I was supposed to fix this. :confused3 The directions said to buy one yard of each type of fabric, which I did. But then I was supposed to cut a stip that was like 80 inches long. One yard isn't long enough for that. Was I supposed to sew two strips together to make one strip? Because it wasn't long enough, it's not very "twirly."

You probably did need to join two strips cut across the width for the 80" strip. My "formula" for twirl skirts is simple - double the waist measurement for the first tier, double the 1st tier measurement for the second and double the second tier measurement for the third. Once you get those basic lengths, you can start doing patchwork of multiple prints to get to the right lengths.

-I cut really uneven. I don't have a rotary thingy, because I don't know what it is. :rolleyes1

P2031833.jpg

A rotary cutter is like a pizza cutter for fabric. It's a round blade on a handle. You use a ruler to give a straight line and cut along it. It makes it so much easier to do a lot of straight strips but you just need to be sure the fabric is folded straight and the ruler is at a 90 degree angle from the fold or the strips will be wonky.

Okay, I finally got some photos uploaded. Here are a couple of my photos from Hannah Montana 3-D concert movie.

love your pictures I esp love the Jayedyn/Jayden pose

Okay, I finally finished my "Minnie Head" outfit :rotfl: I ended up doing the bodice twice. My first one, I lined with white then heat'n'bonded again to the floral and started appliqueing it with regular thread :scared1: So I started over. It had too many layers and was too stiff so I just used white for my background fabric on the front of the bodice. The back and the lining of the front are still the floral. Then I caved and bought some purple embroidery thread. I always use embroidery thread on my appliques but for some reason this time I tried regular first. All I can say is the thread made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!! It went from crapplique to applique! So I am much happier with it now! I still have to put buttons on it. I found some perfect ones today at Joanns and by the time I got to the checkout, Lily had tossed them out of the cart. Of course they were the last package of those buttons :headache: Lily refuses to try it on until I get rid of the "sharps" (pins) :rotfl: I wish it was fuller, but I ran out of fabric.

th_IMG_0924_edited-1.jpg

Here is a closeup of the applique. I did all the purple outlines (except the middle of the eyes). It was good practice! Especially on the tapering of the lines, although it looks like she has too much mascara on! I also used a purple fabric marker to change the bow from pink to purple.

th_IMG_0925_edited-1.jpg

And now A GIVEAWAY!!!

I have a few of the Minnie Head panels to give away. I have one with the pink background and three with the purple background to give away, so for the first 4 people to PM me and correctly guess the names of my 4 kids (spelling doesn't count) I will mail you a Minnie Head panel. They are a great size for a toss pillow.

th_IMG_0928_edited-1.jpg
omg!!! that turned out way cute , great job on the applique

DS5 wore a custom/costume in Disneyland that coordinates with a "character"
he shares a name with. This custom helped him get picked to participate in a fun activity :rolleyes1
I know i know !!!

Hi Ladies! I haven't been posting much. My DD loved all the AG doll clothes so she typed my last message.

Calypso! I love your puppies! They are so adorable. How do you get them all to look at the camera at once?

She also liked the I (heart) Mickey Head shirt.

I  ::MickeyMo I will definitely case that!

Stephres I loved your butterfly outfit. It is adorable I am glad you got the stains out.

Thank you for sharing the Hannah Montana concert photos! It looks like a lot of fun. The restaurant you went to was neat. But I only wonder what kind of food do they serve in a restaurant with cliff divers?:confused3

CampbellScot, thank you for the compliments on my Sophie! She has been in a bad mood today and is hiding in her crate with her favorite toy. If you go near her she barks her head off. :headache:
Mexican food it is so good.....

Wow!!! You girls have been busy :) I can hardly keep up, but I am trying. I can not multi-post because my ancient computer has issues! I love all of the new stuff that has been posted.

I LOVE the Hannah movie pics. I am now a little excited to take my kids to see the movie. As excited as a person can be after spending $60 on movie tickets. It's a good think I feel really guilty about not getting tickets for the concert or I would have never paid to see this movie. I am cheap, cheap, cheap!!!

I have been working on a Minnie dot dress for Princess Katie. I think it is turning out very cute. I am also in the middle of an Easter dress, finishing a VD dress and skirt (we have two Valentine’s events and girl can not wear the same thing twice) and I ordered fabric for her B-day dress. I ordered 2 yards of Robert Kaufman Sweet tooth on Blossom (cupcakes on pink) and it is so beautiful. I can not wait to get it here.

I also have to share Miss. Katie's huge milestone. She went to "Pre-school" :sad1: We belong to a home school group and meet every Monday. :rotfl:

Congrads to the winners!!! Hey, do you happen to remember where you purchased the panels, I'd love to make some for my DN's - they would go NUTS over minnie!!!! Thanks, Wendy
CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS:thumbsup2
