I found a brown top that I came home and modified a bit for my AK shirt to match Chris. Here it is. I found the necklace and earrings too.

I have 5 pages to catch up on but . . .

Here is Mary Mouse for the baby. We are meeting some friends for fruity drinks. All the girls are going to be sporting Cinderella customs. Cindy, her Stepsisters, the Fairy Godmother and Mary Mouse will be present.

That is so cute! Sophee will look adorable!

I just thought I'd share the picture of Lydia and Mulan. This was right after we had our Princess lunch in Norway. She had been dressed as Ariel, but when we saw Mulan, we pulled the Mulan dress out of the backpack and threw it on over the Ariel. I've always loved this Mulan dress anyway!

so cute! I love it.
ok so this is what I have been up to since I was MIA for a few days!!!
IMG_0699.jpg

fantabulous! Just love how fun it looks!

Beautiful work!

My 16yo dd and I have been taking sewing classes together to refine our skills and learn more. I am working on a bag, but it is slow going since I am so busy.

Now I am so curious how your sewing rooms are set up. If anyone wants to share - a description or even a pic - I would be most appreciative. I am sure I am not the only one thinking this either. ;)

ooh how much fun! I want to take a sewing class to get better. I haven't found any around here.

I just wanted to say I scroll through this thread almost every day looking at the adorable clothes - you are all so talented! I love sewing for my daughter and am wondering if you all use patterns or make the patterns yourself? I'm not good enough yet (i don't think) to make a pattern on my own, but if there are patterns out there i'd love to be pointed in the right direction! Thanks!

The party was a blast. Georgia had so much fun! She loved both her cakes and her outfit. It was a little long on her, but it actually looks cute that way. at least she can wear it for a bit.

Here are the crayon roll ups I made this morning, instead of goodie bags. I printed up a bunch of skull and heart coloring pages, and the kids were totally in heaven! hahaha

I know I'm weird, but does anyone else snicker when they see VD as the abbreviation for Valentine's day?
No you are not weird. I used to work in a bakery and everytime a person would want to have Happy Valentine's Day on a cake the person taking the order would write the request like this: Happy VD. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Oh man the first time I saw that I couldn't help laughing my butt off.

Brian caught this fish this summer, and had me take a picture of him holding it. I swear this thing turned to look at me and HISSED! It scared me half to death! I couldn't eat it after he cooked it up! I am no fish person, but I think he said it was a pike. The picture still creeps me out! (the fish part, not Brian!)
th_FreakySnakeFish.jpg
that fish scares me!

Here is the pirate costume. It's out of focus sorry. I don't know what was up with the camera. Also ignore the kitty head coming from the top of the corset.

totally love this!! Awesome for the pirate and princess party!

Hi and welcome! I think that some of us will sometimes use measurements instead of patterns to make some of the more simple things. I think that more often than that we use a pattern and add or adjust to it a little to make it our own. It is very simple to add a ruffle or rick-rack or something a little special like that to make each outfit a one of a kind and your own special design!

I agree. Sometimes I add things, or mix and match patterns and sometimes if I'm not in a hurry I will make up my own pattern.

I have a hard time reading patterns myself, so more times then not I make my own. Or alter the pattern to make it more me. I like simple its easy. haha but still cute and doable.

I finally uplaoded the pics of my DD in the Mulan dress. She was a big hit, all the CM's kept saying "Hello Mulan" to her. Mulan herself got a big kick out of the dress and came over to the line took my DD by the hand and walked to the temple with her. Where they just had a lovely chat. Mulan did not seem to want my DD to leave:love:

I also got some pictures of her in one of her silks

Cindee,

Morgan looks beautiful! I love the Mulan dress even more on than in the first picture.

I was thinking of you today, we hit a local Chinese New Year celebration, complete with dragon and lion dancers. It was amazing and the best thing was that the local group had just gotten a new lion so they did the whole bringing the dragon to life ceremony, it was fabulous.

You could do a t-shirt with an applique of a large number 4, maybe in some sort of gymnastic print fabric?
.
That is an idea, thanks. I will need to see if I can find any sort of gymnastics print.

I think one of those tulle tutu's would be adorable. You could make it a little shorter than usual. Depending on how many guests she's having you could even make them for all the girls.
I was wondering whether something like that might work. Too many guests to make one for each but maybe I could try one for my DD. Oh and it is a co-ed party so I don't think the boys would want tutu's...well lets hope not anyway! Hahaha!! Thanks for the suggestion!!!

My vote goes to tulle tutus too!! They are super easy and adjustable, everyone can have one!! You could also bling or embellish a leotard.

Oh I like the idea of adding some "BLING" to a leotard!!! That is very cool!!! Thanks!!!

I am going out tomorrow to try to buy a table for my sewing spot! I'll post some pics. when I get it all together.

BEAUTIFUL! Thanks so much for posting the back of the dress. It is beautiful. The pic of her walking away with Mulan is just priceless! Love it!

Very cute! Man, are you on the ball! I'm not sure I'm gonna get around to St. Patricks Day. I REALLY need to get started on Easter, but I've got no inspiration in my head right now.

Just wanted to share a picture of dd in her Valentine's Day outfit. The ruffles on the pants was a very last minute job. I decided to take a pair of her old pants that was getting a little short on her, and added ruffles on it last night...I think it turned out OK..dd loves it.

and here's a picture of dd and ds together:
IMG_3794t.jpg

Oh..and I also decided to make a new capri for the princess top that I made dd...the first pair of "capri" that I made turned out too short.

IMG_3755t.jpg

I have a few other things that I will post once I am done with them...

I will be back to catch up with the board in a little bit..

Jenny

LOVE the Valentine's Day set (NOT VD! - haha!)

Here is some more pic. The black onsie with the mickey head goes with a red tutu that I sewed white pompom's on. My 2 yr old is going to be Minnie Mouse for pirate and princess. I'll post a pic of older DD in her pirate costume. My friend made that costum. She did such a great job.

Lovely as always, Aimee! Very ingenius of you to do a non-main character. And the workmanship here is amazing as always!

I love lots of the patterns at youcanmakethis.com . I find them fairly simple to follow, and I love the results.

I finished the Ariel pants on Friday and even took pictures on Friday and then I got behind Friday night.

Here they are:

For the life of me I have no idea why those pants are sideways, they aren't in photobucket, so I don't know why they post sideways. Hopefully it's enough to see them. :confused3 Computers make my head hurt sometimes.

Yesterday we had two birthday parties to go to, 30 miles apart, and overlapping in time. I won't do that again. If I could go back, I'd have skipped the first one. The second one was Delaney's little boyfriend's, they are moving to Michigan the end of the week, so it was our last chance to play together. I think his mom and I were going to cry as they ran off to the playground together hand in hand. WAH! :sad1: I'm going to miss her, we both understand each other really well, and how demanding "high spirited" kids are, we always had each other to lean on.

I think I'm all caught up!

I loved Georgia's birthday! It looks like she had a great time! I love the crayon holders as the goodie for the guests. I might have to do those come May. Is that pattern a link on Teresa's links page?

I think most of us do a mixture of both! There are lots and lots of free patterns in my bookmarks that you could check out. I have not been using store bought pattersn as much since I found this thread.

The Ariel outfit came out great!!!!

Where are your friends moving to? We are in Southwest Michigan. What a HORRIBLE time of year to move here! :cold:

There are instructions in my bookmarks for crayon roll ups. Let me know if you can't find them. If you do a search for crayons, they should come up.

AND, they just cancelled school for tomorrow!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I can't believe it, our school district rarely closes school at all, let alone the night before!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
