Ok Moms, I need some help. Jacob was outside playing and a couple of middle-schoolers starting throwing rocks at him and his friend. He threw one back and smashed the side window of our neighbor's van. How far off the deep end should we go? We have each talked to him about decisions and how you have to think through them. DH wants him to work to pay us back the cost of replacing the window (between $200-$300). My FIL says we are being way too harsh and what do you expect an 8 year old to do when 13 year olds are throwing rocks at him. Yesterday I gave him a brush and pail of vinegar water and he scrubbed the tiles in the kitchen. He has always been a good kid and never in trouble so I really don't know how long to punish him. Long enough that he "gets" it but not too long that it's unfair. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry, I am a little late to respond, but I think you are doing a good job. When we break something we have to work to replace it. I don't think it is being too hard on him. Even though he gets it, I think it is good to still instill responsibility.

Maybe work a deal where he pays half of it back with chores. Or you might let him trade privilages for a bigger amount of payback.

A few days ago my not quite 2 yr old threw a fit when I tried to put a white bow in her hair. She kept pushing it away I saying 'NO! Pink bow!'. I couldn't believe it. I can't imagine what she's going to be like in another year.

LOL! Sounds like my daughter. She has def always had her own sense of style.

I've been busy sewing for our trip. We leave Thursday! I'm so excited! This weekend, I've finished 2 dresses and 3 blankets. I'm now working on a dress for my DN2. Just keep sewing, just keep sewing.

Thanks to everyone for the kind compliments on the dresses! I do have exciting news. My DD9 just got invited to go the the Hannah Montana 3-D movie tomorrow night. I am considering tagging along with the two little ones??? We shall see.

OH my gosh, that is so cool!!! How long did these take to do?

Actually it wasn't long at all. I did both of them watching the Daytona Qualifying run. Maybe an hour or two. The girls loved doing it. DD5 wanted to sleep with it last night. I've had to keep them over near the sewing machine so they won't play with them. The hardest thing was cutting them off because the scissors go right up the back.

That's what I figured after I found it on imbd. My kids love that movie too -- they are getting it for Valentine's Day. I didn't even know the mice had names in the first Cinderella until we saw them in Animal Kingdom in '04 and they signed DS autograph book. I wonder if he will make the connection when he sees the movie again?

Okay, I need EVERYONE'S help please!!!!!! This year my husband and I are celebrating our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Don't know how that happened so fast! Anyway, we are planning a trip to JAMAICA in may! So I am on a mission to lose weight! I need to lose about 30lbs at least! So I need you guys to help me stay on track, so I am going to report each week how much I have lost that way I can be held accountable by someone! So if I report no weight loss or weight gain, you guys have to get on me! OKAY? Do you mind helping me out???? Pretty please with sugar on top?

I will help you stay on track, I just started my diet and exercise last week. I weighed in today and I lost 4.5lbs, still about 35lbs to go, but I was very happy with that!!! I will try to post here weekly with my progress. I agree it is much easier when others are holding you accountable! Good Luck!

Okay, you guys are inspiring me! But that means I"ll have to get on a scale I did WW 5 years ago. I lost 70 pounds and kept it off for 2 years. Then I had some major stress (my mom died while I was pregnant with Lily and we had a house to empty out and sell etc.) so I did not fall off the wagon, I jumped! I have gained most of it back and feel horrible about it, I just need motivation to get me going. I originally started WW with a friend and that helped, even though she quit after a few weeks. Hopefully we can keep this going and help each other out! My 17th anniversary is August 2, so even though I'm not doing anything great (went to Mexico last year) that will be a good goal to work towards. We can do amazing things in 6 months girls!
I checked out Wendy's weight-loss thread but felt kinda like a big old stranger there, so did not join.

I am a little behind on the thread(maybe it has been mentioned), but in fear of filling up our 250 pages quicker with the weightloss thing maybe we could start our own Disboutique Weightloss thread where we could log our weight at what not, because I felt like a stranger on Wendy's thread too! BTW sorry to hear about your mom while you pregnant, that is so sad!

The flu is on it's last legs here, DD is the only one left sick as she was the last to get it. I am hoping she'll make school by Valentine's day!
