I went to the website www.gotfabric.com that a previous poster had mentioned - the site that has a lot of good Hawaiian prints. Right now they seem to be having a 10% sale on many fabrics and then until tomorrow (5/14) everything is 25% (in addition to the 10%) with the coupon code MOM. You do have to pay shipping, but it is still a pretty good deal. Including shipping I got 5 yards for about $25 and that includes a Michael Miller fabric! I have had difficulty finding Hawaiian print at many stores. Just wanted to let you know and give you the opportunity to spend more money!!!

Just wanted to post to those of you that want to use their cricut to cut fabric. I know there were some worries that it would void the one year warranty and thought you might be interested in this line of one of their surveys I took today..
"16. Knowing that the cricut expression can cut from 1/4 inch images to 23.5 inch images; and it can cut paper, vinyl, card stock, chip board, some fabrics, wall papers, pre-pasted boarders, some stencil materials, window clings what do you think the cricut expression would cost, if we threw in 2 free cartridges with it?"

A freind of mine is making a casual princess outfit for for her dd for their trip to Disneyland in a couple of weeks, but she's not sure she likes the finished outfit.

Any suggestions on how to maybe make it better?

I'll admit it took me a minute to realize it was Ariel. (Got it saying it wa sa princess, I think if I didn't know that, I'd have just thought it was a striped top... :()

What if she did something (sequins? Embroidery? Applique with a slightly lighter or darker purple?) to suggest a seashell on top? I can understand not wanting to emphasize the seashell bra look :) but even one big one in the center of the purple would get you thinking under the sea.

Or, as said, an Ariel applique...

I was thinking of she changed the hem (not sure how much she's wanting to play with it at this point) so instead of straight across, the sides went up a little, making a V shape in the front? (a la Ariel?)

I see it's already been answered, but Joanns had the crab fabric and a lot of coordinates. I found itin the baby/nursery section too. For the hoodie I used a McCall's sweatshirt pattern and just left the sleeves off.

Do you mean this fabric?

It is Alexander Henry's "Smiles around the world" and I think it is out of print. I found it on ebay. It also comes in a pink background.

Thanks! Just went and found some on :wizard: :thumbsup2 Who knows if and when I'll ever see epcot again, so it will be a Small World ride for DL.

How about some sequins or beads. That might help it to shine some.

Maybe an applique of some kind? Flounder, the name Ariel out of a cute fabric?

My Joann's has a pre-made big Ariel applique that would look really cute on this outfit. I think the casual Princess outfits are a great idea for comfortable park touring!

Thanks everyone. I'll pass the suggestions along & when she gets it finished I'll try to post a pic of the end result.

Question on how to store fabric....I bought some fabric at Joann's on Sunday and want to store it until next year when we go to disney October 09. Any suggestions on the best way to store it? I know to keep it out of direct light because of fading but is there anything else I should think about?

I use those big plastic rubbermaid type totes. I usually put it in the closet or the attic.

I could tell it was Ariel, even though it was a bit dark to see the bottom. If it were me, I'd add elastic to the waist and to the bottom of the purple part. So it would seem a little more fitted. Then look for an applique for the middle of the top. I think it's cute.

Elisa, your daughters are stunning! I love that rose print you used for their crown tops. Where did you get that pretty please???

The rose print is my absolute favorite fabric of all time...it's a nice heavy cotton..I got it in the quilting section of JoAnns...I bought tons of it, and sadly it's almost gone...LOL

I'm so excited, DH cleared the ok to book hotel at Disneyland, the week of Christmas!!!   Woo Hoo!!!! :woohoo: So we're confirmed & finalizing flights. Yes!!!!

What a ray of sunshine on this otherwise bleak week & 1/2!!!! I've had both ds' home sick with a stomach virus. Blah! House bound & cranky Mommy = bad, very bad....need I say more?? ;) Now I can look forward to planning the next 7 months away!:goodvibes

Need some Disboutique help here, especially from those that frequent the "Land" more than the "World" (such as myself). Or any that have been in So. Cali at Christmas. What should I be thinking for wardrobe?:confused3 I'm thinking it could potentially be cold, cold & don't want tons of work to be hidden under coats? I'm thinking right now of making matching family fleece vests or decoupage jean jackets? Then also make Dis pjs for Christmas Eve. Boring.....

Would you mind telling me what pattern you used for the halters? I am looking for a good pattern for a halter top.

My husband and I went to DL in Dec a few years ago. We froze!! We had our heavy coats and we went and bought gloves at Kmart. One night we took our blanket from the hotel so we could huddle under it to watch fireworks. The days weren't as cold but the evenings were down right frigid. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

I think Teresa was telling me her kids are missing 10 days of school, so I don't think they get back until the weekend. I miss them too!

Oh thanks Steph! Yikes, 10 days of school??? :teacher: Gee I hope they can catch up. popcorn::

Love all of the outfits posted and Elisa, I love the girls  princess tops and skirts! My girls have the skirts too .... I will have to make them something to go with it! The skirts are so easy to wear and fluffy enough to twirl in nicely :dance3:

Wow, I am almost afraid to post after all that wonderfulness! Beautiful dresses!

Here is what I made today. A friend sent me a picture (I think from :wizard: ) and asked if I could make it so I practiced on Megan first:

She got lots of compliments tonight (it was achievement night at school) from the moms. DH thinks it it ridiculous, what do men know about fashion?

Elisa, I picked up that diamond rosebud fabric several times but thought if I was going to copy you, I shouldn't copy exactly so I put it back. I did find something suitable to copy your cute halter tops, so don't fear, you will be CASEd! :rotfl:
